  • Since the Internet has grown into a large communication infrastructure, the network management system to systematically manage the large number of network components has become an essential part of the Internet. The rapid growth of network size has brought into question the scalability of the existing centralized model, such as SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) and CMIP (Common Management Information Protocol). Thus, for efficient network management, researches about mobile agent have also been performed recently. This paper presents analytical models of centralized approach based on SNMP protocol, distributed approach based on mobile agent, and mixed mode to make up for shortcomings of SNMP and mobile agent. We compare the performance of these analytical models based on network management response time. Experiment results show that performance of mobile agent and the mixed mode is less sensitive to the delay in WAN network environment. However, SNMP is more efficient for the simple network environment like LAN.

  • Integrated management model (SNMP/SMI) for lubiquitous egacy remote communication network or service make possible combination of various architecture. However, legacy management system cannot be applied some problems such as inefficient, complexly, implement and large network by reason of integration of voice and data, wired and wireless, and service area between service provider. For improve this, supplied JMX(Java Management eXtensions) on network management technology from SUN. JMX is integrated architecture for existing network management and monitoring. In this paper, we design and implement for integrated network management through multi-protocol agent using JMX.

  • This paper analyzes mobile agent performance in network management compared to the client-server model used in the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). Prototypes of an application that gathers MIB-II (Management Information Base-II) variables have been created and tested on a LAN. After acquiring implementation parameters related to network management and to the mobile agent infrastructure, simulation results have been obtained on large topologies similar in shape to the Internet. Response time results show that mobile agents perform better than SNMP when the number of managed elements ranges between two specific limits, an inferior bound and a superior one, determined by the number of messages that pass through a backbone and by the mobile agent size which grows along with MIB-II variables collected on network elements. The results also show that a significant improvement is achieved when the mobile agent returns or sends data to the management station after visiting a fixed number of nodes.

  • In this paper, the network management system is implemented based on the analysis of reguirements and network operation and management for Flexible Automation. Network management is necessary, which controls and supervises the network resources in the communication network. By means of both analytical methods and queueing model, the delay time distributions due to the increasement of transmission data are obtained and analyzed. The operations of this network management system are certified through the test environments with the network adaptor and softwares for each layer.

  • ATM is the transport method for the broadband integrated services digital networks(B-ISDN). It may replace existing LAN, MAN and WAN technologies such as CSMA/CD, FDDI, Frame relay, X.25, etc. But it is more complicate than existing network technologies. One of the main difficulties in ATM network is performance management. Specifically, the problems are evaluating the performance and tuning the values of the performance parameters, The goal of this paper is to introduce a system architecture designed for ATM network performance management, The major ingredients of the system are generic performance parameters In be measured from ATM network, performance evaluation models and decision criteria concerning the network performance. In this paper, general requirements for performance management application in ATM network are discussed.

  • Traditional configuration management involves complex labor-intensive processes performed by experts. The configuration tasks such as installing or reconfiguring a system, provisioning network services and allocating resources typically involve a large number of activities involving multiple network elements. The network elements may be associated with proprietary configuration management instrumentation and may also be spread across heterogeneous network domains thereby increasing the complexity of configuration management. This paper introduces an architecture for the self-configuration of networks (SELFCON). The proposed architecture involves a directory server, which is uses to maintain configuration information. The configuration information stared in the directory server is modeled using the standard DEN specification thereby allowing effective exchange of network, system and configuration management data among heterogeneous management domains. SELFCON associates configuration intelligence with the components of the network, rather than limit it to a centralized management station. The network elements are notified about related changes in configuration policies, based upon which, they perform self-configuration. SELFCON is able to provide automation of configuration management and also an effective unifying framework for enterprise management.

  • To build a flexible network than traditional transport network, the carrier ethernet technology is emerging in network industry recently and MPLS-TP technologies are being applied as a major standard technology for the carrier ethernet. However, network management technologies required to handle equipment installed in MPLS-TP network are not clear. This paper propose an efficient method to build a management network automatically without any additional configuration when network equipments are installed in MPLS-TP network. The proposed scheme reduce cost required for both equipment installation and network maintenance by minimizing configuration procedures of connecting management system with network. We evaluated the effectiveness of the proposed scheme by applying the scheme to a real MPLS-TP equipment.

  • In the forthcoming next generation highspeed networks, the provisioning of broadband mobile multimedia services is the most important issue while an efficient network management architecture, which can manage the network resources efficiently, is essential. The next generation highspeed networks will be composed of the ATMand SDH-based transport network systems and the H-based interworking systems. The management functions of these network systems are implemented various technologies, such as TMN and SNMP. In order to integrate these network resources efficiently with heterogeneous management functions, the distributed network management architecture such as TINA is most appropriate. In this pape, we propose an interworking architecture for TINA manager and TMN agent. where the TINA-based EML subnetwork management operations mapped into the related management operations of the TMN NE agent. The proposed interworking architecture is simpler than JIDM, and the processing overhead is minimized.

  • Much of work on network externality assumed network effects are dependent on the network size. Therefore, very little consideration is given to the view that marginal benefits from joining the network may not increase with the network size if consumer benefits come from the direct interaction with neighbors, namely local network. In this study, we used the agent-based simulation method to reexamine the effectiveness of the traditional network market strategy under the presence of the local network where two incompatible technologies compete. We found that the strategy of growing an initial customer base is not effective under the presence of the local network. Our study also showed that targeting customers based on their technology Preference is not as effective as targeting customers within the same local network. As a result, the focus of a network market strategy should be directed to taking advantage of the customer network.

  • This paper mentions a centralized approach based on SNMP protocol and distributed approach based on mobile agent in network management s system. And it presents a few Quantitative models for systematically evaluating those two different approaches. To do this, we propose model m that is applicable under a uniform network environment, and compare network execution times of each paradigms based on parameters from s simulation. The model is then refined to take into account non-uniform networks. We show that it can reduce overall network execution times b by determining the best interaction patterns to perfo$\pi$n network management operations from this model. We believe that the model proposed h here should help us to decide appropriate paradigms and interaction patterns for developing network management applications.
