Cloud computing is a technology for delivering information in which resources are retrieved from the internet through a web-based tools and applications, rather than a direct connection with the server. It is a new emerging computing based technology in which any individual or organization can remotely store or access the information. The structure of cloud computing allows to store and access various information as long as an electronic device has access to the web. Even though various merits are provided by the cloud from the cloud provides to cloud users, it suffers from various flaws in security. Due to these flaws, data integrity and confidentiality has become a challenging task for both the storage and retrieval process. This paper proposes a novel approach for data protection by an improved auditing based methodology in cloud computing especially in the process of cloud storage. The proposed methodology is proved to be more efficient in auditing the threats while storing data in the cloud computing architecture.
As network resources have become faster and demands for multimedia service through network have increased, the demand for Media server system has increased. These kinds of media server solve their bottle neck problem of internal storage device by using parallel system which takes advantage of fast network resource. Many vendors have suggested each of their media server system to solve these problem radically, but most of them require major modification of infra component and additional drawback has added. For example, storage mechanism for specific media requires new file system which is totally different from traditional one, and algorithm for enhancing performance may not suit for traditional operating system environment. In this paper, we designed a parallel media server based on web interface of traditional system and implemented a program for media server. Implemented server system performs parallel processing through web interface without any modification of traditional system, and controls which is related to merging load by distributed data is charged only to client and control server and consequently load of storage server can be minimized. And also, data transfer protocol for streaming media includes Retransfer algorithm and client Admission control policy relevant to performance of whole system.

In this paper I analyzed two decoding algorithms of decentralized LT codes for distributed storage by simulations in small-scale wireless sensor network. From the simulation results we can see that when the decoding ration is above 2.0, the successful decoding probability of OBP decoding is about 99%, while that of BP decoding is below 50% with n=100, and about 70% with n=200. We showed that OBP decoding algorithm is an efficient decoding scheme for decentralized LT codes for distributed storage in small-scale wireless sensor network.
Recently, with the development of data communication techniques and storage devices, many researches have been done to process a large amount of data. As the size of storage media has been increased because of the storage technologies such as NAS and SAN, the efficient backup for a large amount of data is required. In this paper, we design and implement a disk based backup software that fully supports NDMP(Network Data Management Protocol) which is an open standard protocol for network based backup. The proposed backup software supports various types of backup and restore. In addition, it manages multiple network connected devices and supports a disk based backup by extending the NDMP protocol.
This paper describes the implementations of the application service based on embedded Linux; Personal Audio Recorder (PAR) which uses WiBro network for data communications and CDMA network for voice communications. At PAR, when PAR client starts voice recording on a dual-mode terminal, the CDMA voice data of caller and callee is transmitted to storage server located in the Internet through WiBro network. Then, PAR server stores voice data on storage server according to the call number and call time. In case of shortage of storage space on terminal, PAR makes user to store voice data. And, PAR can search a catalog of stored data on server and play the specific content.

Drivers for Increased Need for Digital Content ■ Falling cost of computing -Multimedia capability at reasonable cost ■ Decrease in digital storage cost -Magnetic, optical and tape -Cost of digital storage decreases 40% / year ■ World Wide Web users explosion and falling cost of communications -17M web servers(1/97) -Number of users doubles every 6 months - Network bandwidth triples every year(omitted)
An effective methodology is reported for the optimal design of multisite batch production/transportation and storage networks under uncertain demand forecasting. We assume that any given storage unit can store one material type which can be purchased from suppliers, internally produced, internally consumed, transported to or from other plant sites and/or sold to customers. We further assume that a storage unit is connected to all processing and transportation stages that consume/produce or move the material to which that storage unit is dedicated. Each processing stage transforms a set of feedstock materials or intermediates into a set of products with constant conversion factors. A batch transportation process can transfer one material or multiple materials at once between plant sites. The objective for optimization is to minimize the probability averaged total cost composed of raw material procurement, processing setup, transportation setup and inventory holding costs as well as the capital costs of processing stages and storage units. A novel production and inventory analysis formulation, the PSW(Periodic Square Wave) model, provides useful expressions for the upper/lower bounds and average level of the storage inventory. The expressions for the Kuhn-Tucker conditions of the optimization problem can be reduced to two sub-problems. The first yields analytical solutions for determining lot sizes while the second is a separable concave minimization network flow subproblem whose solution yields the average material flow rates through the networks for the given demand forecast scenario. The result of this study will contribute to the optimal design and operation of large-scale supply chain system.
A new architecture coiled the Storage Area Network(SAN) was developed in response to the requirements of high availability of data, scalable growth, and system performance, In order to use SAN more efficiently, most SAN operating system support storage virtualization concepts that allow users to view physical storage devices attached to SAN as a large volume virtually. A logical volume manager plays a key role in storage virtualization. It realizes the storage virtualization by mapping logical addresses to physical addresses, In this paper, we design and implement an efficient and flexible mapping method for logical volume manager. Additionally, to aid flexible mapping, we also design and implement free space management method, The mapping method in this paper supports a snapshot that preserves a volume image at certain time and on-line reorganization to allow users to add or remove storage devices to SAN even while the system is running.

An effective methodology is reported for determining the optimal lot size of batch processing and storage networks which include uncertain demand forecasting. We assume that any given storage unit can store one material type which can be purchased from suppliers, internally produced, infernally consumed, transported to or from other sites and/or sold to customers. We further assume that a storage unit is connected to all processing and transportation stages that consume/produce or move the material to which that storage unit is dedicated. Each processing stage transforms a set of feedstock materials or intermediates into a set of products with constant conversion factors. The expressions for the Kuhn-Tucker conditions of the optimization problem can be reduced to two sub-problems. The first yields analytical solutions for determining lot sires while the second is a separable concave minimization network flow subproblem whose solution yields the average material flow rates through the networks for the given demand forecast scenario. The result of this study will contribute to the optimal design and operation of the global supply chain.

Our mapping method supports a snapshot that preserves a volume image at certain time and on-line reorganization to allow users to add or remove storage devices to and from the SAN even while the system is running. To justify our mapping method, we compare it with the mapping method of the GFS (Global File System) through various experiments.
