  • The intelligent PVR(Personal Video Recorder) is an enhanced PVR that provides viewers with some advanced features as well as pause, instant replay, search and skip forward found in conventional PVRs. By embedding a home server into a PVR, it is possible for an intelligent PVR to provide a powerful web-based management user interface constructed using HTML, graphics and other features common to web-browsers. When applied to other embedded systems, web technologies offer graphical user interfaces which are user-friendly, inexpensive, cross-platform and network-ready. It is the purpose of this paper to introduce implementation of intelligent PVR which is control by internet. We present the architecture of an home- server with a simple but powerful web-based network interconnection.

  • Security weakness in PLC network can be made up for by authentication and management scheme of PLC modules introduced in this paper. Each PLC module must pass the authentication procedure to work normally in PLC network as soon as being installed in the spot. Based on this scheme, all PLC devices are registered, certified, and managed automatically in central control center - AMR server, authentication server, NMS server, and DB server.

  • In this paper, we propose a stream based patching technique in order to reduce demands of network output bandwidth required to provide the true video-on-demand (VoD) service in a Multimedia server. The proposed scheme calculates required streams to clients accurately by analyzing temporal relationships between already arrived requests in a multimedia server and still progressing streams, and then transmits streams freshly. Since our stream based patching technique induces new linking stream which is playing a link role between long and short patching streams, it reduces demand of network output bandwidth required to provide the true VoD service in a multimedia server. Accordingly, we know that the proposed scheme improves service latency and defection rate than those of existing patching technique by a simulation study.

  • Most Embedded Web Camera Server products currently deployed on the market adopt JPEG for compression of video data continuously acquired from the cameras. However, JPEG does not efficiently compress the continuous video stream, and is not appropriate for the Internet where the transmission bandwidth is not guaranteed. In our previous work, we presented the result of designing and implementing an embedded web camera streaming server using MPEG4 codec. But the server in our previous work did not show good performance since one CPU had to both compress and process the network transmission. In this paper, we present our efforts to improve our previous result by using dual CPUs, where DSP is employed for data compression and StrongARM is used for network processing. Better performance has been observed, but it is found that still more time is needed to optimize the performance.

  • An automatic remote water measurement system was developed. This system sends automatic remote measured and collected water meters data automatically from the transmitter with CDMA modem through SK-Telecom network The water meter data are received through LAH TCP/IP and displayed as test file on IE(Internet Explorer) window. The existing water meters of mechanical type have so many problems to measure data. The person must visit the location of each water meters and write down the data records manually. In this system the RF module has attached each water meter Client/Server programs are developed by network socket programming.

  • The purpose of this study are changing wired medical instrument's terminal into wireless and implementing BSS of Wireless Local Area Network. the wireless terminal using frequency hopping spread spectrum in ISM band transfers patients medical information data such as ECG data, Patient Disease Indication Message to AP(or Server) and it also performs that as a response of transmission request in server. we made Clinet-Server network structure support only BSS service and patient's terminal controlled by polling in server. Wireless Terminal will guarantee mobility and give doctors real time monitoring capability in office.

  • Currently, lots of research s going on in the field of the load distribution within HTTP. RR-DNS and SWEB are the most representative load distribution research. But, there are still many problems: unbalancing of load, load increase of web server and cost increase. Also, clients that require lots of data like multimedia happens to increase network load. To solve these, research about client/agent/server architecture is going on. But, the clients must know the agent's address and there are complexity and migration problems for design of such as protocol. This paper proposes TBSMS that is capable of choosing the optimal server considering the service capacity of the server as well as the network load. This paper demonstrates that TBSMS uses the web to solve the problem that client must know the agent's address and uses SNMP to solve the complexity and migration problem.

  • As the usage of wireless LAN becomes common in working environment, the number of database systems that support both wired and wireless users increases rapidly. The characteristics of wireless LAN that its speed is slow relatively comparing to wired network and the users in its environment connects to different communication points as they moves creates another challenge to be resolved in database systems. In the environment of hybrid communication systems, wired and wireless for voluminous data amount and a number of users, the two layer architecture of the conventional client-server database systems has limitation in the system performance. This is due to that server is the only point of data service in client-server database systems. In this paper, we discuss a new extended database system architecture that data services are distributed among servers and clients based on user database access patterns in order to improve system performance. We analyze the expected system performance by using simulation technique and prove the practical utilization of the system by demonstrating experimental results.

  • In this paper we implement a robot system consisted of mobile tole robot to be controlled by client through web browser Newly Internet is connected to all network of the whole world. If client uses the network like this, client can control direction of a robot that is selected in free place. In this study, system is embodied in using robot that can move freely in plan place and cod camera that can grab robot image. System transmit image data of cod camera to java server that is placed in web server of internet that is used by client. Java server display incoming data in home page using java applet. Then web browser offer robot image to client and client send remote control signal to robot. Control signal is transmitted to robot by java server and robot receiving signal moves toward direction wanted by client.

  • Among the driving methods of CALS, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), the pivot of procurement and logistics, is becoming the standard of data interchange. In this article, we examine the standard, growth, and status of EDI, and present a scheme to make it available via Internet that grow to be a standardized network, in comparison with a method to use a Value Added Network(VAN). So we studied an implementation of EDI system to exchange and process the business intra-works in order to integrate it into Intranet environment. As well, we present a client/server model running under Intranet environment, and a system with a format server to share the load of server and client. To do this, we list the functions and requirements of EDI system, connect a database to the Intranet, and develop applications using $Java^{TM}$.
