  • This study aims to analyze the impact of learners' usability perceptions of topic modeling-based visual feedback and generative AI interpretation on reflection levels in online discussions. To achieve this, we asked 17 students in the Department of Korean language education to conduct an online discussion. Text data generated from online discussions were analyzed using LDA topic modeling to extract five clusters of related words, or topics. These topics were then visualized in a network format, and interpretive feedback was constructed through generative AI. The feedback was presented on a website and rated highly for usability, with learners valuing its information usefulness. Furthermore, an analysis using the non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test based on levels of usability perception revealed that the group with higher perceived usability demonstrated higher levels of reflection. This suggests that well-designed and user-friendly visual feedback can significantly promote deeper reflection and engagement in online discussions. The integration of topic modeling and generative AI can enhance visual feedback in online discussions, reinforcing the efficacy of such feedback in learning. The research highlights the educational significance of these design strategies and clears a path for innovation.

  • Planning support systems(PSS) add more advanced spatial analysis functions than Geographic information systems(GIS) and intertemporal functions to the functions of spatial decision support systems(SDSS). This paper reports the continuing development of a PSS providing a framework that facilitates urban planners and civil engineers in conducting coherent deliberations about planning, design and operation & maintenance(O&M) of water-distribution networks for urban growth management. The PSS using dynamic optimization model, modeling-to-generate-alternatives, value engineering(VE) and life-cycle cost(LCC) can generate network alternatives in consideration of initial cost and O&H cost. Users can define alternatives by the direct manipulation of networks or by the manipulation of parameters in the models. The water-distribution network analysis model evaluates the performance of the user-defined alternatives. The PSS can be extended to include the functions of generating sewer network alternatives, combining water-distribution and sewer networks, eventually the function of planning, design and O&H of housing sites. Capacity expansion by the dynamic water-distribution network optimization model using MINLP includes three advantages over capacity expansion using optimal control theory(Kim and Hopkins 1996): 1) finds expansion alternatives including future capacity expansion times, sizes, locations, and pipe types of a water-distribution network provided, 2) has the capabilities to do the capacity expansion of each link spatially and intertemporally, and 3) requires less interaction between models. The modeling using MINLP is limited in addressing the relationship between cost, price, and demand, which the optimal control approach can consider. Strictly speaking, the construction and O&M costs of water-distribution networks influence the price charged for the served water, which in turn influence the. This limitation can be justified in rather small area because price per unit water in the area must be same as that of neighboring area, i.e., the price is determined administratively. Planners and engineers can put emphasis on capacity expansion without consideration of the relationship between cost, price, and demand.

  • Compact Network Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) is a method that combines compact RTK and network RTK, and it can effectively reduce the time and spatial de-correlation errors. A network RTK user receives multiple correction information generated from reference stations that constitute a network, calculates correction information that is appropriate for one's own position through a proper combination method, and uses the information for the estimation of the position. This combination method is classified depending on the method for modeling the GPS error elements included in correction information, and the user position accuracy is affected by the accuracy of this modeling. Among the GPS error elements included in correction information, tropospheric delay is generally eliminated using a tropospheric model, and a combination method is then applied. In the case of a tropospheric model, the estimation accuracy varies depending on the meteorological condition, and thus eliminating the tropospheric delay of correction information using a tropospheric model is limited to a certain extent. In this study, correction information modeling accuracy performances were compared focusing on the Low-Order Surface Model (LSM), which models the GPS error elements included in correction information using a low-order surface, and a modified LSM method that considers tropospheric delay characteristics depending on altitude. Both of the two methods model GPS error elements in relation to altitude, but the second method reflects the characteristics of actual tropospheric delay depending on altitude. In this study, the final residual errors of user measurements were compared and analyzed using the correction information generated by the various methods mentioned above. For the performance comparison and analysis, various GPS actual measurement data were collected. The results indicated that the modified LSM method that considers actual tropospheric characteristics showed improved performance in terms of user measurement residual error and position domain residual error.

  • While the future warfare is expected to be appeared as network-centric, effect-based, and coordinated cooperative, most current M&S systems reflect only the unit behaviors and interactions of each weapon system. There are limitations to analyze the behaviors of managing weapons cooperatively and sharing the situational awareness over the networks of distributed sensors, C2, and shooters using them. Therefore, we introduce the new design of the networkcentric warfare modeling system using the agent-based modeling and simulation approach. We have developed a system for engagement-level warfare models and tested with multi-platform battleship warfare. In this paper, we propose the method to design battle agents, environments, and networks for network centric warfare modeling.

  • In this paper, we propose a researcher modeling technique based on ontology and construct social network for researchers using diverse relational properties. User ontology schema is created by extending the existing HR-XML model for a researcher model. User ontology schema and instance are created by OWL. We compose social network model for efficient cooperation between researchers using static relational properties such as educational background and dynamic relational properties such as co-authors and co-workers, etc. Closeness has direction because researcher network is differently configured by the researchers. We define inferencing rules using SWRL and inference ontology rules using racer inference machine to compose direct relationships between researchers. The proposed model for researchers can be applied to the cooperation model for researchers by retrieving common expert group dynamically.

  • This paper describes a lateral guidance system of an unmanned vehicle, using a neural network model of magneto-resistive sensor and magnetic fields. The model equation was compared with experimental sensing data. We found that the experimental result has a negligible difference from the modeling equation result. We verified that the modeling equation can be used in the unmanned vehicle simulations. As the neural network controller acquires magnetic field values(B$\_$x/, B$\_$y/, B$\_$z/) from the three-axis, the controller outputs a steering angle. The controller uses the back-propagation algorithms of neural network. The learning pattern acquisition was obtained using computer simulation, which is more exact than human driving. The simulation program was developed in order to verify the acquisition of the learning pattern, learning itself, and the adequacy of the design controller. A computer simulation of the vehicle (including vehicle dynamics and steering) was used to verify the steering performance of the vehicle controller using the neural network. Good results were obtained. Also, the real unmanned electrical vehicle using neural network controller verified good results.

  • During the past decades in South Korea, there have been several projects to reduce water demand and save water for paddy irrigation system by automation. This is called as intensive water management system by telemetering of paddy ponding depth and canal water level and telecontrol of water supply facilities. This study suggests a method of constructing topology-based irrigation network system using GIS tools. For the network modeling, a typical agricultural watershed included reservoirs, irrigation and drainage canals, pumping stations was selected. ArcHydro tools composed of edge, junction, waterbody and watershed were used to construct hydro-network. ArcHydro Model was then designed and the network was successfully built using the HydroID. Visualization using ArcHydro tools could display table property of each object. ArcHydro Model was linked to Agricultural Water Demamd and Supply Estimation System (AWDS) which developed by Korea Rural Community and Agriculture Corporation (KRC) to extract information of the study area. And menu of supply facilities information, demand analysis and supply analysis constructed for information acquisition and visualization of acquired informations.

  • To guarantee the quality of service for user request, we should consider various kinds of things. The important thing of QoS is that response time of service is transparently suggested 'to network users. We can know the response time of service using the information of network latency, system latency, and software component latency, In this paper, we carried out the modeling of network latency and analyzed the effects of packets loss to the network latency, Also, we showed the effectiveness of modeling using the NS-2. This research can help to provide the effective methods in case of SLA(Service Level Agreement) agreement between service provider and user.
