  • The circulation of unwholesome information such as obscene and violent information is gradually increasing based on the rapid expansion of information communications infrastructure. Those kinds of information are harmful to the adolescents and even cause social problems so that active countermeasure is requited. In order to cope with the spread of unwholesome information, appropriate regulating methods are absolutely in need by establishing or revising information communications-related laws. In this paper, we had analyzed domestic and foreign programs with existing harmful information blocking method, and then designed and implemented a selective blocking program based on Platform for Internet Contents Selection(PICS) by using selective blocking technology based on Internet contents rating system. We also proposed a compromised rating system blocking method that consists of selective filtering function by age and the popular blocking list. The proposed system has advantages in that there would be no increase in network load resulting from blocking list update and inquiry, it is possible to perform active selective filtering considering user's age, and it may introduce self-imposed rating.

  • Vehicular Ad Hoc Network(VANET) is a communication technology between vehicles and vehicles(V2V) or vehicles and infrastructures(V2I) for offering a number of practical applications. Considering the importance of communicated information through VANET, data authentication, confidentiality and integrity are fundamental security elements. Recently, to enhance a security of VANET in various circumstances, message authentication is widely researched by many laboratories. Among of them, Zhang. et. al. is an efficient method to authenticate the message with condition of anonymity in dense space. In the scheme, to obtain the vehicular ID with condition of anonymity, the k-anonymity is used. However it has a disadvantage, which conducts hash operations in case of determining the vehicular ID. In the paper, we present a location based algorithm using received signal strength for the location based authentication and encryption technique as well, and to enhance the accuracy of algorithm we apply a location determination technique over the 3-dimensional space.

  • In this paper, we propose a smart meter that uses GRU model, which is one of artificial neural networks, for the efficient energy management. We collected power consumption data that train GRU model through the proposed smart meter. The implemented smart meter has automatic power measurement and real-time observation function and load control function through power consumption prediction. We determined a reference value to control the load by using Root Mean Squared Error (RMS), which is one of performance evaluation indexes, with 20% margin. We confirmed that the smart meter with automatic load control increases the efficiency of energy management.

  • Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) gradually becomes a technique for ensuring the health and safety of civil infrastructures and is also an important approach for the research of the damage accumulation and disaster evolving characteristics of civil infrastructures. It is attracting prodigious research interests and the active development interests of scientists and engineers because a great number of civil infrastructures are planned and built every year in mainland China. In a SHM system the sheer number of accompanying wires, fiber optic cables, and other physical transmission medium is usually prohibitive, particularly for such structures as offshore platforms and long-span structures. Fortunately, with recent advances in technologies in sensing, wireless communication, and micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS), wireless sensor technique has been developing rapidly and is being used gradually in the SHM of civil engineering structures. In this paper, some recent advances in the research, development, and implementation of wireless sensors for the SHM of civil infrastructures in mainland China, especially in Dalian University of Technology (DUT) and Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), are introduced. Firstly, a kind of wireless digital acceleration sensors for structural global monitoring is designed and validated in an offshore structure model. Secondly, wireless inclination sensor systems based on Frequency-hopping techniques are developed and applied successfully to swing monitoring of large-scale hook structures. Thirdly, wireless acquisition systems integrating with different sensing materials, such as Polyvinylidene Fluoride(PVDF), strain gauge, piezoresistive stress/strain sensors fabricated by using the nickel powder-filled cement-based composite, are proposed for structural local monitoring, and validating the characteristics of the above materials. Finally, solutions to the key problem of finite energy for wireless sensors networks are discussed, with future works also being introduced, for example, the wireless sensor networks powered by corrosion signal for corrosion monitoring and rapid diagnosis for large structures.

  • The investigation of retaining wall structures behavior under dynamic loads is considered as one of important parts for designing such structures. Generally, the performance of these structures is under the influence of the environment conditions and their geometry. The aim of this research is to design retaining wall structures based on smart and optimal systems. The use of accuracy and speed to assess the structures under different conditions is one of the important parts sought by designers. Therefore, optimal and smart systems are able to have better addressing these problems. Using numerical and coding methods, this research investigates the retaining wall structure design under different dynamic conditions. More than 9500 models were constructed and considered for modelling design. These designs include height and thickness of the wall, soil density, rock density, soil friction angle, and peak ground acceleration (PGA) variables. Accordingly, a neural network system was developed to establish an appropriate relationship between data to obtain safety factor (SF) of retaining walls under different seismic conditions. Different parameters were analyzed and the effect of each parameter was assessed separately. According to these analyses, the structure optimization was performed to increase the SF values. The optimal and smart design showed that under different PGA conditions, the structure performance can be appropriately improved while utilization of the initial (or basic) parameters leads to the structure failure. Therefore, by increasing accuracy and speed, smart methods could improve the retaining structure performance in controlling the wall failure. The intelligent design process of this study can be applied to some other civil engineering applications such as slope stability.
