GELIM: An Integrated System with Genetic Network Analyzer and LIMS (GELIM: 유전자 네트워크 분석과 데이터 관리를 위한 통합 시스템)

  • 생물학적으로 의미 있는 결과를 도출하기 위해서는 많은 실험 데이터가 필요하다. 최근에는 마이크로 어레이 실험 기술이 발달함에 따라 대량의 데이터를 얻을 수 있게 되었고, 이로 인해서 데이터를 체계적으로 관리하고 필요한 정보를 습득할 수 있는 시스템이 필요하게 되었다. LIMS(Laboratory Information Management System) 는 이러한 요구 조건을 충족시키기 위한 시스템으로 기존의 파일 시스템에 의존해서 비효율적으로 실험 데이터를 관리해 오던 것을 체계적이고 효율적으로 관리해 주기 위한 시스템이다. 대량의 유전자 발현 데이터의 생산은 유전자의 조절 네트워크 예측을 가능하게 하였다. 유전자간의 상호 작용을 분석하는 것은 세포의 활동을 이해하는데 매우 중요한 요소라고 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 LIMS 기능과 유전자 조절 네트워크 분석 시스템을 통합하여 사용자가 쉽게 데이터를 공유 및 습득할 수 있으며 편리한 사용자 인터페이스를 이용하여 컴퓨터에 익숙하지 않은 실험들도 쉽게 사용할 수 있는 GELIM(an Integrated system with GEnetic network analyzer and LIMs) 을 소개한다.

Study on the UHF-band Variable Attenuator Using the 3-dB Coupler (UHF대역 3-dB 커플러(Coupler)를 이용한 가변 감쇄기(Attenuator)에 대한 연구)

  • A design and implementation method for the UHF-band(800MHz) variable attenuator using the 3dB coupler is proposed. The 90 degree, 3-dB Coupler is used for the variable attenuator. The principal theory for the 3-dB coupler is introduced. The 3-dB Coupler is designed by the mathematical analysis and a computer simulation tool. A PIN diode is used for the variable resistor at UHF-band. The variable attenuator using the 3-dB coupler and the PIN diode is designed and implemented. The measured results for the variable attenuator by a network analyzer show that the insertion loss is below -l0dB, and the continuous variable attenuation range is about 10dB.

  • An accurate method to measure shielding effectiveness(SE) of EMI spray coating film is presented. After high frequency simulating, Circular coaxial standard test fixture is fabricated. A sample of EMI spray coating film was fabricated for insertion into a circular coaxial standard test fixture. The measuring instrument used an Agilent 8722ES vector network analyzer for the SE measurement. The exact SE of copper and silver mixed spray coating sample was measured by the composition of the measuring instrument and the measuring sample. The SE of copper sample was measured at 70 dB and the SE of copper and silver mixed spray coating sample was measured at 60 dB. As a result of the measurement, the reliability of the circular coaxial standard test fixture was confirmed.

  • The distortion of picosecond pulses caused by dispersion as it propagates along microstripline and CPW(Coplanar waveguide) is investigated and measured using time domain measurement. Especially, this study presents that the distortion of these lines is analyzed and compared considering the relation between the dispersion effect and cut-off frequency(f$\_$TE/) of fundamental TE mode for the substrate of line. To verify theoretical results, several samples of 50 $\Omega$ lines are fabricated on the two kind of substrates with the different values of f$\_$TE/. The propagation characteristics of picosecond Gaussian pulse on thess lines are simply measured using VNA(Vector Network Analyzer) with the time-domain analysis function.

A Free-Space Method for Measurement and Analysis of Dielectric Characteristics of Electromagnetic Absorbing Materials at Microwave Frequencies (자유공간 기법을 적응한 마이크로파 대역 전파흡수재의 유전 특성 분석)

  • For measurements and analysis of dielectric characteristics of planar slabs of microwave absorbing materials, I have applied a free-space method in the frequency range of 8~14 GHz. The measurement system for free-space method consists of transmit and receive antennas, mode transitions, precision coaxal cables, the network analyzer, and a computer Special Spot-focused horn lens antenna was used to eliminate diffraction effects. Diffraction effects at the edges of the sample are minimized by satisfying the condition for minimum transverse dimension of the plate and the beamwidth of the antennas at the focus. The time-domain gating feature of the network analyzer and the thru, reflect, and line(TRL) calibration technique were used to eliminate the effects of undesirable multiple reflections. The complex coefficients of reflection and transmission, $S_{11}$ and $S_{21}$, of planar samples were measured for standard materials such as Teflon, Rexolite$\textregistered$ 2200. The results were compared with existing measurement method. And I applied a free-space method for measurement to measure dielectric constants of some electromagnetic absorbing materials. Dielectric properties for the same samples were also measured with a 7mm coxial transmission line method for purposes of comparison with the free-space method.

  • An accurate technique to retrieve HEMT modeling parameters with measurements of S-parameters and DC characteristics of HEMT is proposed. The extrinsic series resistances among HEMT modeling parameters are determined by the FUKUI method using the measured DC characteristics. And other parameters are determined by the measured S-parameters by HP 8510C Network Analyzer with various values of DC bias. The transconductance retrieved from the measured S-parameters, however, shows only 0.078% error comparing with the measured gm values. Therefore, the S-parameters measured directly for an individual transistor should be used for an accurate determination of the model parameters. The procedure for the retrieval of the circuit modeling parameters redescribed in detail in this thesis.

Development of Batteryless SAW-based Integrated Microsensor and Wireless Measurement Technique (무전지 SAW 기반 마이크로 통합센서 및 무선 측정기술 개발)

  • We developed a 440MHz surface acoustic wave (SAW) microsensor integrated with pressure-temperature sensors and ID tag. Two piezoelectric substrates were bonded, in which ${\sim}150\;{\mu}m$ cavity was structured. Four sides were completely sealed by JSR photoresist (PR). Pressure sensor was placed on the top substrate, whereas ill tag and temperature sensor were placed on the bottom substrate. Using network analyzer, the developed microsensor was wirelessly tested. Sharp reflection peaks with high S/N ratio, small signal attenuation, and small spurious peaks were observed. All the reflection peaks were well matched with the coupling of mode (COM) simulation results. With a 10mW RF power from the network analyzer, a ${\sim}1$ meter readout distance was observed. Eight sharp ON reflection peaks were observed for ID tag. Temperature sensor was characterized from $20^{\circ}C$ to $200^{\circ}C$. A large phase shift per unit temperature change was observed. The evaluated sensitivity was ${\sim}10^{\circ}/^{\circ}C$.

  • Electromagnetic simulation was compared to the measurement with a network analyzer in the cavity resonator method which has been used for determining microwave quality factor. Scattering matrix $S_{12}$ obtained from the network analyzer was compared to the $S_{12}$ obtained from the simulation. The effects of the pore and the secondary phase of the dielectric resonator on the microwave quality factor were studied. From the simulated results, the dominant resonant $TE_{01\delta}$ mode was determined and the quality factor was observed to decrease with the pore and the secondary phase in the dielectrics.

  • The modern society has become full-fledged entry into the information age since spread of Internet. In the information age, internet was developed from the wired access to the wireless Internet access. When a surge in demand for wireless Internet access, efficiency and performance of 2.4GHz band which leads to saturation of the communication was significantly fall. Accordingly, the communication of the 5GHz band came to be interested. In this paper, we studied the design and fabrication of u-slot microstrip patch antenna to be used in wireless communication systems operating at around 5GHz band. To obtain antenna parameters such as patch size, inter patch space, antenna was simulated by HFSS(High Frequency Structure Simulator). From these parameters, u-slot microstrip patch antenna is fabricated using FR-4 substrate of dielectric constant 4.4. The characteristics of fabricated antenna were analyzed by network analyzer.

  • This paper presents a method to measure reflection coefficients of microwave devices or antennas based on time domain analysis with sampling oscilloscopes. The reflection coefficients were extracted by the Fourier transformation of echo pulses from devices with respect to the 20 GHz incident pulse signals. The three-error terms, which are commonly used for the correction of a microwave network, were determined using a 3.5 mm calibration kit. In addition, a modified error-correction model associated with a directional coupler for reflection coefficient measurements is introduced. The results were compared with those of measured with a commercial vector network analyzer.
