  • The NGN(Next-Generation Network) structure has been considered from various points of view as all If wireless-wired integration network and its performance is one of the main issue in these days. In this paper, various wired and wireless integrated networks with voice service are designed and simulated to obtain problems and factors affects the network performance using OPnet simulator. The characteristics only showed in the wired and wireless integrated networks are measured and analyzed compared with the single networks such as a wired or wireless networks. Especially, in the wired and wireless integrated networks showed degrading performance even if there are few transmissions in the network and furthermore, the various networks of increasing numbers of the nodes and transmission are simulated and evaluated.

  • This paper describes measurement of energy consumption when various size of data packets, on the both broadcast and point-to-point of Wireless network interface, are transmitted, received and discarded in the environment of Ad-hoc network. This experiment measures energy consumption using IEEE 802.11 wireless network interface with each condition. Since the measurements induces linear equation, it can provide useful information for protocol designer and developer. And this paper analyzes the information of behavior of energy consumption for the energy-aware design and the evaluation of network protocol on the practical wireless environment.

  • This study compared the structures and changes of help network between pre-service secondary teachers and pre-journalists who participated in the class related to network analysis to seek ways to activate a professional learning community. For this study, we used Exponential Random Graph Models (ERGM) based on ties as being interdependent and not conventional regression models requiring assumptions of independence between observations. The analysis subjects were 43 pre-service secondary teachers and 29 pre-journalists who responded both early and late in the help network survey. The main results were as follows. First, full models with network structural terms were better than simple models with no structural terms. Second, the effect of transitivity was not statistically significant in the pre-service secondary teachers' network. However, it was statistically significant in the pre-journalists' network. Third, there were effects of reciprocity, indegree popularity, and outdegree activity in the early help network of pre-service secondary teachers. On the contrary, there were only the positive effects of reciprocity and the negative effect of outdegree activity in the late network. Finally, this study demonstrated the possibility in educational fields' application of network structural effects and provided limitations and directions for future research.

  • This study demonstrates how social network analysis can be used for identifying potential buyers in technology marketing; in such, the methodology and empirical results are proposed. First of all, we derived the three most important 'seed' keywords from 'technology description' sections. The technologies are generated by various types of R&D activities organized by South Korea's public research institutes in the fundamental science fields. Second, some 3, 000 words were collected from websites related to the three 'seed' keywords. Next, three network matrices (i.e., one matrix per seed keyword) were constructed. To explore the technology network structure, each network is analyzed by degree centrality and Euclidean distance. The network analysis suggests 100 potentially demanding companies and identifies seven common companies after comparing results derived from each network. The usefulness of the result is verified by investigating the business area of the firm's homepages. Finally, five out of seven firms were proven to have strong relevance to the target technology. In terms of social network analysis, this study expands its application scope of methodology by combining semantic network analysis and the technology marketing method. From a practical perspective, the empirical study suggests the illustrative framework for exploiting prospective demanding companies on the web, raising possibilities of technology commercialization in the basic research fields. Future research is planned to examine how the efficiency of process and accuracy of result is increased.

  • This study analyzes the network structure of the Metropolitan Seoul subway system by applying complex network analysis methods. For the purpose, we construct the Metropolitan Seoul subway system as a network graph, and then calculate various indices introduced in complex network analysis. Structural characteristics of Metropolitan Seoul subway network are discussed by these indices. In particular, this study determines the shortest paths between nodes based on the weighted distance (physical and time distance) as well as topological network distance, since urban travel movements are more sensitive for them. We introduce an accessibility measurement based on the shortest distance both in terms of physical distance and network distance, and then compare the spatial structure between two. Accessibility levels of the system have been getting up overall, and thus the accessibility gaps have been getting lessen between center located subway stops and remote ones during the last 10 years. Passenger traffic volumes are explored from real passenger transaction databases by utilizing data mining techniques, and mapped by GIS. Clear differences reveal between the spatial patterns of real passenger flows and accessibility. That is, passenger flows of the Metropolitan Seoul subway system are related with population distribution and land use around subway stops as well as the accessibility supported by the subway network.

  • It was required Integrated Network Management Architecture(INMA) with consistency and standardization in order to support efficiently communication service for operators and users. In such ITU-T(International Telecommunication Union - Telecommunication) recommended TMN(Telecommunication Management Network) which is Network management architecture for telecommunication, and intended to achieve uniform and comprehensive network management using standardized network management interface. This paper proposes C31 management services and management functions based on ITU-T and RACE project. This designs C31 INMA based on TMN concept in order to manage efficiently C31 communication network. The C31 INMA supports to manage C31 LAN and WAN devices and lines with global and correspondence, and helps Integrated Network Management system design and implementation.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose and verify a spatial network construction method that integrated roads and subway lines to improve the predictability of the urban spatial analysis model. The existing axial map for urban spatial analysis did not reflect the subway line that serves as an important moving space in modern cities. To improve this axial map, proposed a Ground-Underground Spatial Network by integrating the underground spatial network with the axial map. As a result of the integration analysis, the Ground-Underground Spatial Network(GUSN) were similar to the movement frequency. Correlation of GUSN was 0.723, which showed higher explanatory power than correlation coefficient of 0.575 in axial map. The result of this study is expected to be a theoretical basis for constructing spatial network in urban space analysis with subway.

  • As review text contains the experience and opinions of the customers, analyzing review text helps to understand the subject. Existing studies either only used sentiment analysis on online restaurant reviews to identify the customers' assessment on different features of the restaurant or network analysis to figure out the customers' preference. In this study, we conducted both sentiment analysis and network analysis on the review text of the restaurants with high star ratings and those with low star ratings. We compared the review text of the two groups to distinguish the difference of the two and identify what makes great restaurants great.
