  • The interfacial features of suspension system made of $CaCO_3$ particles have been investigated for the purpose of designing its effective treatment process. For the examination of variation of electrokinetic potential as a function of pH. the value of potential was observed to shift in the negative direction, which was thought to be due to the adsorption of hydroxide ion on the particle surface. Adsorption of surfactant on suspended particles resulted in the change of surface charge and shift in electrokinetic potential, which was dependent upon the sign of head charge and concentration of surfactant. Addition of inorganic salts affected stability of suspension greatly and sedimentation rate of suspension was influenced by the electric valence and amount of ions produced by dissolution of inorganic coagulants. DLVO theory made it possible to construct a energy profile diagram and a close correlation was found between experimental result and theoretically derived consequences. Non-specific adsorption of indifferent electrolyte resulted in the compression of electrical double layer and specific adsorption induced the shift of IEP and PZC in the opposite direction.

  • In this study, the electrical characteristics of Ni/CNT/$SiO_2$ structures were investigated in order to analyze the mechanism of carbon nanotubes in 4H-SiC MIS device structures. We fabricated 4H-SiC MIS capacitors with or without carbon nanotubes. Carbon nanotubes were dispersed by isopropyl alcohol. The capacitance-voltage (C-V) is characterized at 300 to 500K. The experimental flat-band voltage ($V_{FB}$) shift was positive. Near-interface trapped charge density and oxide trapped charge density values of Ni/CNT/$SiO_2$ structure were less than values of reference samples. With increasing temperature, the flat-band voltage was negative. It has been found that its oxide quality is related to charge carriers or defect states in the interface of 4H-SiC MIS capacitors. Gate characteristics of 4H-SiC MIS capacitors can be controlled by carbon nanotubes between Ni and $SiO_2$.

  • SiOC films made by the inductively coupled plasma chemical vapor deposition were researched the relationship between the dielectric constant and the chemical shift. SiOC film obtained by plasma method had the main Si-O-C bond with the molecule vibration mode in the range of $930{\sim}1230\;cm^{-1}$ which consists of C-O and Si-O bonds related to the cross link formation according to the dissociation and recombination. The C-O bond originated from the elongation effect by the neighboring highly electron negative oxygen atoms at terminal C-H bond in Si-$CH_3$ of $1270cm^{-1}$. However, the Si-O bond was formed from the second ionic sites recombined after the dissociation of Si-$CH_3$ of $1270cm^{-1}$. The increase of the Si-O bond induced the redshift as the shift of peak in FTIR spectra because of the increase of right shoulder in main bond. These results mean that SiOC films become more stable and stronger than SiOC film with dominant C-O bond. So it was researched that the roughness was also decreased due to the high degree of amorphous structure at SiOC film with the redshift after annealing.

  • This paper examines the export structure of Gwangyang Port and evaluates its comparative advantage from 2005 to 2016 using the Comparative Advantage by Countries (CAC) index. It is found that: (i) Gwangyang Port has a comparative advantage in HS 39 and HS 28, an unstable comparative advantage in HS 29 but a comparative disadvantage in HS 72; and (ii) 4 items have the common features of losing their comparative advantage. Constant market share analysis allows one to evaluate why the exports of one region may grow faster than world exports. This consists of the commodity composition effect, the scale effect, and the competitive effect. Constant market share analysis shows that the commodity composition effect influences exports negatively while the scale effect does exports positively. Shift-share analysis can help evaluate the change in a region's performance relative to the nation over a given period of time. The result indicates that HS 28 has not only favorable industrial mix effect but high competitive share effect, while HS 29 has unfavorable industrial mix effect as well as low competitive share effect. This paper also reveals that industrial mix effect of HS 39 is positive but its competitive share effect is negative, whereas the former is negative but the latter is positive in case of HS 29.

  • Recently, Metal/Alumina/Silicon-Nitride/Silicon-Oxide/Silicon (MANOS) structures are one of the most attractive candidates to realize vertical scaling of high-density NAND flash memory [1]. However, as ANO layers are miniaturized, negative and positive bias temperature instability (NBTI/PBTI), such as the flat band voltage shift, ${\Delta}V_{FB}$, the interfacial trap density increase, ${\Delta}D_{it}$, the gate leakage current, ${\Delta}I_G$. and the retention characteristics, in MONOS capacitors, becomes an important issue in terms of reliability. It is well known that tunnel oxide degradation is a result of the oxide and interfacial traps generation during FN (Fowler-Nordheim) stress [2]. Because the bias temperature stress causes an increase of both interfacial-traps and fixed oxide charge could be a factor, witch can degrade device reliability during the program and erase operation. However, few studies on NBTI/PBTI have been conducted on improving the reliability of MONOS devices. In this work, we investigate the effect of post-annealing gas on bias temperature instability (BTI), such as the flat band voltage shift, ${\Delta}V_{FB}$, the interfacial trap density shift, ${\Delta}I_G$ retention characteristics, and the gate leakage current characteristics of MANOS capacitors. MANOS samples annealed at $950^{\circ}C$ for 30 s by a rapid thermal process were treated via additional annealing in a furnace, using annealing gases $N_2$ and $N_2-H_2$ (2 % hydrogen and 98 % nitrogen mixture gases) at $450^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. MANOS samples annealed in $N_2-H_2$ ambient had the lowest flat band voltage shift, ${\Delta}V_{FB}$ = 1.09/0.63 V at the program/erase state, and the good retention characteristics, 123/84 mV/decade at the program/erase state more than the sample annealed at $N_2$ ambient.

  • The purpose of the study was to explore the nurses' perception of flexible working and present an operational guideline for implementation. The data were collected from a survey of 532 nurses conducted from 10 February to 24 February, 2015, using simple random sampling. SPSS 21.0 was used to analyze the data. This study found that the demanding for shorter hour shifts was highest ($M=3.89{\pm}0.87$) and 242 participants (46.2%) intended to apply the shift, followed by a fixed night shift, fixed weekend shift, and 12 hour shift. The common reasons identified were the poor environment of shift work and the challenges of child care. The increased time for personal development, relaxation activity to improve the quality of life and child care was highlighted and work-life balance was noted as a positive impact of flexible working. The negative impacts of flexible working were being likely to become temporary workers. These results can help establish uniform working conditions of nurses in the future by providing a standardized operational guideline as a precondition for reasonable compensation and working environment according to a flexible working pattern.

  • Papiliocin, isolated from the swallowtail butterfly (Papilio xuthus), is an antimicrobial peptide with high selectivity against gram-negative bacteria. We previously showed that the N-terminal helix of papiliocin (PapN) plays a key role in the antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activity of papiliocin. In this study, we measured the selectivity of PapN against multidrug-resistant gram-negative bacteria, as well as its anti-inflammatory activity. Interactions between Trp2 of PapN and lipopolysaccharide (LPS), which is a major component of the outer membrane of gram-negative bacteria, were studied using the Trp fluorescence blue shift and quenching in LPS micelles. Furthermore, using circular dichroism, we investigated the interactions between PapN and LPS, showing that LPS plays critical roles in peptide folding. Our results demonstrated that Trp2 in PapN was buried deep in the negatively charged LPS, and Trp2 induced the ${\alpha}$-helical structure of PapN. Importantly, docking studies determined that predominant electrostatic interactions of positively charged arginine residues in PapN with phosphate head groups of LPS were key factors for binding. Similarly, hydrophobic interactions by aromatic residues of PapN with fatty acid chains in LPS were also significant for binding. These results may facilitate the development of peptide antibiotics with anti-inflammatory activity.

  • This paper presents an efficient face recognition method using both first moment of image and basis images. First moment which is a method for finding centroid of image, is applied to exclude the needless backgrounds in the face recognitions by shifting to the centroid of face image. Basis images which are the face features, are respectively extracted by principal component analysis(PCA) and fixed-point independent component analysis(FP-ICA). This is to improve the recognition performance by excluding the redundancy considering to second- and higher-order statistics of face image. The proposed methods has been applied to the problem for recognizing the 48 face images(12 persons*4 scenes) of 64*64 pixels. The 3 distances such as city-block, Euclidean, negative angle are used as measures when match the probe images to the nearest gallery images. The experimental results show that the proposed methods has a superior recognition performances(speed, rate) than conventional PCA and FP-ICA without preprocessing, the proposed FP-ICA has also better performance than the proposed PCA. The city-block has been relatively achieved more an accurate similarity than Euclidean or negative angle.

The proposed methods has been applied to the problem for recognizing the 60 face images(15 persons *4 scenes) of 320*243 pixels. The 3 distances such as city-block, Euclidean, negative angle are used as measures when match the probe images to the nearest gallery images. In case of the 45 face images, the experimental results show that the recognition rate of the proposed methods is about 1.6 times and its the classification is about 5.6 times higher than conventional PCA without preprocessing. The city-block has been relatively achieved more an accurate classification than Euclidean or negative angle.

  • This paper presents a hybrid face recognition method of both the first moment of image and the independent component analysis(ICA) of fixed point(FP) algorithm based on Newton method. First moment is a method for finding centroid of image, which is applied to exclude the needless backgrounds in the face recognitions by shifting to the centroid of face image. FP-ICA is also applied to find a set of independent basis images for the faces, which is a set of statistically independent facial features. The proposed method has been applied to the problem for recognizing the 48 face images(12 persons o 4 scenes) of 64*64 pixels. The 3 distances such as city-block, Euclidean, negative angle are used as measures when match the probe images to the nearest gallery images.
