성역할의 관점에서 조사한 과학자와 자선에 대한 이미지의 격차 및 과학 관련 태도와의 관계생 조사 (The Differences between the Image of Scientists and Self-Image in Terms of Sex-Role and Their Relationships with Science-Related Attitudes)

  • In this study, the image of scientists and the self-image in terms of stereotypical masculine and feminine characteristics were investigated for 562 primary and secondary school students. The perceived differences between the image of scientists and the self-image were quantified and compared across grade levels and gender. Their relationships with science-related attitudes were also studied. The results indicated that students hold more masculine characteristics in the image of scientists and more feminine characteristics in the self-image. The perceived differences between the image of scientists and the self-image were greater for female students than male students. Female students also had more negative attitudes than male students on Career Interest in Science and Enjoyment of Science Lesson of the Test of Science-Related Attitudes. It was found that the differences between the perceived images were negatively correlated with science-related attitudes. Although the relationships were found to be statistically significant, the magnitudes were relatively small. Educational implications are discussed.

Improved Spam Filter via Handling of Text Embedded Image E-mail

  • The increase of image spam, a kind of spam in which the text message is embedded into attached image to defeat spam filtering technique, is a major problem of the current e-mail system. For nearly a decade, content based filtering using text classification or machine learning has been a major trend of anti-spam filtering system. Recently, spammers try to defeat anti-spam filter by many techniques. Text embedding into attached image is one of them. We proposed an ontology spam filters. However, the proposed system handles only text e-mail and the percentage of attached images is increasing sharply. The contribution of the paper is that we add image e-mail handling capability into the anti-spam filtering system keeping the advantages of the previous text based spam e-mail filtering system. Also, the proposed system gives a low false negative value, which means that user's valuable e-mail is rarely regarded as a spam e-mail.

신체이미지와 과시소비성향에 따른 명품구매행동 연구 (The Role of Body Image and Conspicuous Consumption Tendency on Luxury Brand Buying Behaviour)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out if body image and conspicuous consumption tendency influenced luxury brand buying behaviour. A survey questionnaire was used to collect information from 430 females in their 20's. Collected data were subjected to descriptive analysis, factor analysis, and path analysis. Results showed that body image and conspicuous consumption tendency consisted of five factors. In terms of body image, attitude towards changing appearance, attitude towards changing body figure/weight, and interest in health/appearance had a positive effect on conspicuous consumption tendency, which ultimately influenced luxury brand buying behaviour. In contrast, body cathexis and physical self-concept had a negative effect on conspicuous consumption tendency, which also directly influenced luxury brand buying behaviour.

야구 유니폼의 이미지 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on Image Evaluation of Baseball Uniform)

  • The objectives of this study were to investigate the differences of image evaluation of baseball uniform by uniform design and perceiver's gender. and to examine how baseball uniform preferences vary according to perceiver's gender. Stimuli consisted of 12 color photographs of a male model wearing a baseball uniforms which were manipulated according to the color of shorts and pants. A semantic differential scale of 23 items were used to evaluate the image of the stimuli. Subjects were 288 males and females. Five dimensions derived to account for the image of baseball uniform. These were manly, ability, activity, preference, and visibility. Wearing of red shirts had a positive effect on the evaluation of ability, activity, and visibility. Dark blue shirts had a positive effect on the evaluation of preference. Grey uniforms had negative effects on the evaluation of ability, activity, and visibility. Men liked white uniforms and vertical stripes uniforms of black and white more than dud women. Women talked dark blue shirts more than did men.

Beneath the Skin : A Cultural Comparison of Cosmetic Surgery and Body Image among Korean and American Females

  • The purpose of this study was to examine differences in body image and attitudes and behaviors regarding cosmetic surgery between Korean and Americans. Forty females in the U.S and 40 in Korea participated in the study by being interviewed. As a result, while Koreans had positive attitudes toward cosmetic surgery, Americans had negative attitudes. Higher incidences of cosmetic surgery were found among Koreans than among Americans. Koreans with lower body image tended to have ore tolerance toward cometic surgery. These results suggest that cosmetic surgery might be one of many ways to improve their self-esteem, Korean women with lower body image showed higher attitudes or behaviors toward cosmetic surgery than Americans.

JPEG-2000 Gradient-Based Coding: An Application To Object Detection

  • Image distortions, such as quantization errors, can have a severe negative impact on the performance of computer vision algorithms, and, more specifically, on object detection algorithms. State-of-the-art implementations of the JPEG-2000 image coder commonly allocate the available bits to minimize the Mean-Squared-Error (MSE) distortion between the original image and the resulting compressed image. However, considering that some state-of-the-art object detection methods use the gradient information as the main image feature, an improved object detection performance is expected for JPEG-2000 image coders that allocate the available bits to minimize the distortions on the gradient content. Accordingly, in this work, the Gradient Mean-Squared-Error (GMSE) based JPEG-2000 coder presents an improved object detection performance over the MSE based JPEG-2000 image coder when the object of interest is located at the same spatial location of the image regions with the strongest gradients and also for high bit-rates. For low bit-rates (e.g. 0.07bpp), the GMSE based JPEG-2000 image coder becomes overly selective in choosing the gradients to preserve, and, as a result, there is a greater chance of mismatch between the spatial locations of the gradients that the coder is trying to preserve and the spatial locations of the objects of interest.

  • The purposes of this research were to analyze factor structure and the face image to hairstyles which was made by Computer graphic simulation. To select ten hairstyle, a standard face selected between women of $20\~25$ years, and four factor (straight, curl, hair length, front hair, part hair) which were made of stand of hairstyle were applied. The results were as follows; 1 face image factor by hairstyle variation were found to five factor; negative and pogitive, indivisuality, youthfulness, unbanity, intelligence. 2. The result of analysis to face image by hairstyle factor were (1) In the hair state, straight hair was explained by the youthful, pure, decent image than curl. (2) In the hair length, the longer hair was explained by the more feminine, softness image. The shorter hair was explained by the more vigorous, youthful image. (3) In the presence of front hair, bang hair was explained by the commonness, moderate, classical image than all back hair (4) In the part hair, part hair was explained by the modern and unbanity image than no part hair.

구조방정식을 이용한 신종 감염병이 치과위생사 이미지와 취업 인식에 미치는 영향: 온라인 정보 중심으로 (The Effect of New Infectious Diseases Using Structural Equation on Dental Hygienist Image and Employment Recognition: Focused on Online Information)

  • 본 연구는 구조방정식을 통하여 학생들의 치과 위생사에 대한 이미지와 취업 인식을 파악하고 온라인 정보에 대한 인식을 접목해 차후 치과위생사 보건인력 확보에 필요한 정보를 마련하고자 한다. 수집된 자료는 통계는 SPSS Statistics 24.0 와 AMOS Graphics 21.0 통계 패키지를 이용하여 자료 분석을 시행하였다. 취업을 긍정적으로 인식하는 사람은 신종 감염병이 발생해도 치과위생사의 이미지를 긍정적으로 보고, 치과위생사의 부정적 이미지를 통해 부정적 취업 인식을 이해하는 것으로 나타났다. 인터넷 정보를 긍정적으로 생각하는 사람은 인터넷 정보가 거짓 정보가 많고, 유해하며, 불안을 조장한다고 생각하고, 그 영향은 취업에 대한 부정적 인식에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 인터넷 정보를 긍정적으로 생각하는 사람은 치과위생사가 감염에 노출되기 쉽고, 감염원을 전달 할 수 있으며, 쉽게 감염될 수 있다고 생각하고, 이는 부정적 취업에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 신종 감염병 시기에는 올바른 인터넷 정보의 인식을 통하여 치과위생사의 이미지 형성을 하는 것이 중요하다.

  • 여러 과학기술에 대해 사람들이 가진 감정적 심상이 각 과학기술의 위험과 이득을 판단할 때 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 단어 연상 기법을 통해 특정 과학기술에 대해 떠오르는 심상들이 무엇인지 확인하고 그 심상값으로 감정을 측정하였다. 감정추단 가설의 예언대로 과학기술에 대한 전반적인 감정에 따라 해당 과학기술을 더 유익하거나 더 위험하게 지각한다는 것을 확인하였다. 다시 말하면, 사람들이 판단의 대상에 대해 긍정적 감정을 가지고 있으면 부정적 감정을 가진 경우보다 위험을 더 낮게 지각하고 이득은 더 높게 지각하였다. 이와 반대로 부정적 감정을 가지고 있으면 긍정적 감정을 가진 경우보다 위험을 더 높게 지각하고 이득은 더 낮게 지각하였다. 또한 과학기술에 대한 판단에서 지각된 위험과 지각된 이득간에 부적 상관이 있었다. 감정추단의 작용을 시사하는 이런 결과들을 감정 측정 그리고 과학기술에 대한 의사소통의 필요성 측면에서 논의하였다.

Radial displacement of clinical target volume in node negative head and neck cancer

  • Purpose: To evaluate the radial displacement of clinical target volume in the patients with node negative head and neck (H&N) cancer and to quantify the relative positional changes compared to that of normal healthy volunteers. Materials and Methods: Three node-negative H&N cancer patients and five healthy volunteers were enrolled in this study. For setup accuracy, neck thermoplastic masks and laser alignment were used in each of the acquired computed tomography (CT) images. Both groups had total three sequential CT images in every two weeks. The lymph node (LN) level of the neck was delineated based on the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) consensus guideline by one physician. We use the second cervical vertebra body as a reference point to match each CT image set. Each of the sequential CT images and delineated neck LN levels were fused with the primary image, then maximal radial displacement was measured at 1.5 cm intervals from skull base (SB) to caudal margin of LN level V, and the volume differences at each node level were quantified. Results: The mean radial displacements were 2.26 (${\pm}1.03$) mm in the control group and 3.05 (${\pm}1.97$) in the H&N cancer patients. There was a statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of the mean radial displacement (p = 0.03). In addition, the mean radial displacement increased with the distance from SB. As for the mean volume differences, there was no statistical significance between the two groups. Conclusion: This study suggests that a more generous radial margin should be applied to the lower part of the neck LN for better clinical target coverage and dose delivery.
