Reliability analysis of tunnel face stability considering seepage effects and strength conditions

  • Face stability analyses provides the most probable failure mechanisms and the understanding about parameters that need to be considered for the evaluation of ground movements caused by tunneling. After the Upper Bound Method (UBM) solution which can consider the influence of seepage forces and depth-dependent effective cohesion is verified with the numerical experiments, the probabilistic model is proposed to calculate the unbiased limiting tunnel collapse pressure. A reliability analysis of a shallow circular tunnel driven by a pressurized shield in a frictional and cohesive soil is presented to consider the inherent uncertainty in the input parameters and the proposed model. The probability of failure that exceeding a specified applied pressure at the tunnel face is estimated. Sensitivity and importance measures are computed to identify the key parameters and random variables in the model.

  • In the midst of dynamic industrial changes, companies need data analysis considering the effects of integration of various technologies in order to establish innovative R & D strategies. However, the existing technology forecasting model evaluates individual technologies without considering relationship among them. To improve this problem, this study suggests a new methodology reflecting the integration of technologies. In the study, a technology forecasting indicator was developed using the technology integration index based on social network analysis. In order to verify the validity of the proposed methodology, 'drone task performance technology' based on patent data was applied to the research model. This study aimed to establish a theoretical basis to design a research model that reflects the degree of integration of technologies when conducting technology forecasting research. In addition, this study is meaningful in that it quantitatively verified the proposed methodology using actual patent data.

  • Cantilever beam MEMS piezoelectric accelerometers are the simplest and most widely used accelerometer structure. This paper discusses the design of a piezoelectric accelerometer exclusively for SHM applications. While such accelerometers need to operate at a lower frequency range, they also need to possess high sensitivity and low noise floor. The availability of a simple model for deflection, charge, and voltage sensitivities will make the accelerometer design procedure less cumbersome. However, a review of the open literature suggests that such a model has not yet been proposed. In addition, previous works either depended on FEM analysis or only reported on the fabrication and characterization of piezoelectric accelerometers. Hence, this paper presents, for the first time, a simple analytical model developed for the deflection, induced voltage, and charge sensitivity of a cantilever beam piezoelectric accelerometer.The model is then verified using FEM analysis for a range of different cases. Further, the model was validated by comparing the induced voltages of an accelerometer estimated using this model with experimental voltages measured in the accelerometer after fabrication. Subsequently, the design of an accelerometer is demonstrated for SHM applications using the analytical model developed in this work. The designed accelerometer has 60 mV/g voltage sensitivity and 2.4 pC/g charge sensitivity, which are relatively high values compared to those of the piezoresistive and capacitive accelerometers for SHM applications reported earlier.

A Study of Holism based Service Experience Analysis System

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to offer a holism based Service Experience Analysis System(HSEAS) for service design. Background: Customer experience has been focused in a lot of service area. But it is difficult to understand the customer's needs and their experiences because it's so complex and uncertain. Thus it needs holistic approach that means it's difficult to explain general character merely through the understanding of small parts that composes an object and it must be analyzed within the overall context. Method: Accordingly, the thesis paper proposes the Service Experience Analysis System that satisfies the four following needs. (1) Need of solid Experience Framework in which the special quality of the service experience is considered, (2) need of support for the semantic cohesion between different kinds of data, (3) need of support for the management and search of vast data, and (4) need of building the knowledge base system for collaborative research. Results: HSEAS combines the short information in the customers' words and behaviors or situations and circumstances and provides a place of analysis where the context of the general experience can be read and allows concrete understanding of the actual state and factor of the problem as a Combined Data Analysis Tool. Conclusion: HSEAS becomes the center of information management, analysis and connection and it provides a free collaboration place where physical condition has no relations to as a knowledge base system based on network. Application: It is expected that length and width will be added to the analysis and assistance for effectively accumulating information will be provided in the area of diverse service.

Mixed Model with Time Effect for Analyzing Geographic Variability in Mortality Rates

  • Tsutakawa(1988) proposed a mixed model for using empirical Bayes method to study the geographic variability in mortality rates of a disease. In particular cases of the analysis in mortality rate, we need to consider the effect of time. If observed data are collected annually for the time period, then time effect will be emphasized. Here, an extended model for estimating the geographic effect and the mortality rates of the disease with time effect is proposed.

  • The structural analysis model for estimate of load carrying capacity of railway bridge on service line is important to determine safety of bridges in service, we need to take response of bridge exactly, applying analysis model similar to the real railway bridge most. Track structure which is to distribute loads and decrease vibrations occurred from running train is constructed on the railway bridges. And it is important factor which should be considered to understand exact dynamic and static responses of bridge. But track structure is currently classified as a none structural members in the structural analysis model for estimating load carrying capacity of railway bridge and not considered in analysis model. That's the reason it is difficult to understand exact behavior of bridges. Therefore, the major objective of this study is to develop an analytical track-bridge model which is similar to real railway bridges considering track structure for safety assessment of railway bridge on service line to be effectively done.

  • 기존의 CAD/CAM 시스템들은 대부분이 완성된 제품의 최종 상태만을 표현하기 위한 수단으로 사용되고 있다. 하지만 선박과 같이 규모가 큰 제품을 생산하기까지는 설계 및 생산 과정에서 많은 시간과 노력이 요구되며, 수많은 정보가 생성되고 교환되어야 한다. 그러므로 이와 같은 문제점들을 극복하기 위하여 제품의 최종 상태뿐 만 아니라 설계 및 생산 과정에서 사용되는 정보를 표현할 수 있는 모델이 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 그러한 정보의 중심이 될 수 있고, 선박의 초기설계 과정에서 생성되는 구조설계 정보를 바탕으로 선체를 구성하는 부재들의 3차원 형상정보와 위상정보를 포함하는 선체모델을 구축하고, 판골(板骨)구조인 선박에 대해 판부재뿐 아니라 종늑골(logitudinal)과 방요재(stiffener)까지 고려하였으며, 선체모델을 통한 한가지 응용 예로써, 선체모델로부터 구조해석모델을 자동 생성하는 방법에 대한 연구를 수행하였다.

Analysis of SNE Learner's Performance Using NASA Scaling

  • Computer science and computing technologies are applied into mathematical, science, medical, engineering and educational applications. The models are used to solve the issues in all the domains. Educational systems are used top down, bottom up, Gap Analysis model in the educational learning system. Educational learning process integrated with Lerner, content and the methodology. The Learners and content are same in the educational system or similar courses but the teaching methodologies are differing one with another. The determinations of teaching methodologies are based on the factors related to that particular model or subject. The learning model influencing determinations are made by the surveys, analysis and observation of data to maximize the learning outcome. This paper attempted to evaluate the SNE learners cognitive using NASA Scaling.

패널 자료를 이용한 미충족 의료의 추세와 관련요인 (Trend of Unmet Medical Need and Related Factors Using Panel Data)

  • 본 연구는 2009년부터 2013년까지(2010년 제외)의 한국 의료패널 자료를 활용하여 미충족 의료의 추세 및 현황을 알아보고, 미충족 의료와 관련된 요인을 분석하고자 하였다. 연구 대상자는 2009년 11,598명, 2011년 11,035명, 2012년 10,584명, 2013년 10,099명 그리고 7,144명의 패널 자료를 활용하여 빈도분석, 교차분석, 일반화 추정방정식 모형을 시행하였다. 연도별로 교차분석 결과, 여성, 중학교 졸업 이하의 학력, 의료보장 형태가 의료급여인 경우, 최저 분위의 가구소득, 주관적 건강상태 점수가 낮을 때 미충족 의료 경험률이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 일반화 추정방정식 모형을 통한 분석 결과, 여성, 40세 미만 연령대, 초등학교 졸업 이하, 최저 분위의 가구소득, 주관적 건강상태 20점 미만, 활동 제한이 있는 경우 미충족 의료를 경험할 가능성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이 결과를 바탕으로, 의료서비스 이용의 정책을 수립하는데 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다.
