SPS(Spark Plasma Sintering ) is known to be an excellent sintering method for porous materials. In the present work an attempt has been made of fabricating porous 316L Stainless steel with good mechanical properties by using controlled SPS process Porosity was 21%~53% at sintering temperature of $600^{\circ}C$~100$0^{\circ}C$ The limit of porosity with available mechanical strength was 30% at given experimental conditions. Porosity can be controlled by manipulating the intial height of the compact by means of the supporter and punch length. The applied pressure can be exerted entirely upon the supporter, giving no influence on the specimen. The specimen is then able to be sintered pressurelessly. In this case porosity could be controlled from 38 to 45% with good mechanical strength at sintering temperature of 90$0^{\circ}C$. As the holding time increased, neck between the particles grew progressively, but shrinkage of the specimen did not occur, implying that the porosity remained constant during the whole sintering process.

Polymer composites, especially glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) are finding ever-increasing applications in areas such as superconductivity, space technology, cryogenic rocket engines, and cryogenic storage vessels. Various components made of polymer composites are much lighter than their metallic counterparts but have equivalent strength for ultra-low temperature applications. In this paper, we have investigated the tensile properties of an indigenously prepared unidirectional cylindrical hollow composite tube for its use as a neck of the cryogenic vessel. XRD and SEM of the tube are completed before cryogenic conditioning to ascertain the fiber and resin distribution in the matrix. The result shows that for composites, after 15, 30, 45, and 60 minutes of cryogenic conditioning at 77K in a liquid nitrogen bath, the strength and modulus increase significantly with the increase of strain rate and reach the optimum value for 45 minutes of conditioning. The results are encouraging as they will be helpful in assessing the suitability of GFRP in the structural design of epoxy-based components for cryogenic applications.
Extraoral maxillofacial prostheses are essential for restoring facial structures that are lost as a result of congenital missing, injuries from accidents, surgical treatments of head and neck cancer. Recently, silicone is the most useful material for this purpose and is more advantageous than other maxillofacial prosthetic materials. However, there are some problems for long-term usage of silicone prostheses due to tear and color change. These are major contributing environmental factors to those problems that are such as ultraviolet light, cleansing agents, changes in humidity and successive adhesion and removal. The aim of this study is to evaluate the physical properties and color changes of maxillofacial prosthetic silicone material by those environmental factors using A-2186 silicone material (Factor II, USA) and two pigments, cadmium yellow medium and cosmetic red. Aluminium molds were fabricated according to the ASTM No. D412 & D624 specifications and resulted specimens from molds were fabicated and treated as follows. Control group and experimental I group were fabricated with 0.1% wt. pigment mixing in silicone elastomer and II-1 group, II-2 group of experimental II group were fabricated with 0.2%, 0.3% wt. pigment mixing in silicone elastomer, respectively. Control group was kept in darkroom at room temperature, I-1 group was kept under natural sunlight during 1week, I-2 group was soaked in 20% soap water during 1wk. I-3 group was successively adhered and removed 200 times on inner region of arm using Daro adhesive-33. Experimental II groups were kept in darkroom at room temperature. Instron universal testing machine was used to measure the % elongation, tensile strength, tear strength of control, experimental I, II groups and reflectance spectrophotometer(COLOR EYE-3000, Macbeth, USA) was used to measure the color differences between control group and experimental I group. The results were as follows : 1. When compared with control group, natural weathering group and 20% soap-water soaking group had no significant differences in % elongation(p>0.05). 2. 200 times successive adhesion and removal group, 0.2% wt. pigment group and 0.3% wt. pigment group had significant decreases in % elongation(p<0.05). 3. Natural weathering group, 20% soap-water soaking group and 200 times successive adhesion and removal group had no significant differences in tensile strength (p>0.05). 4. 0.2%, 0.3% wt. pigment groups had significant decreases in tensile strength(p<0.05). 5. Values of all experimental groups were decreased in tear strength. and 200 times successive adhesion and removal group had significant decrease in tear strength(p<0.05). 6. Natural weathering group and 20% soap-water soaking group had significant color differences(${\Delta}E$) and it could be detectable to naked eye(p<0.05). 7. Color differences between control group and 200 times adhesion and removal group were not detectable to the naked eye (${\Delta}E<1.0$).

Non-specific chronic neck pain (CNP) is a prevalent disorder and often accompany with pain, fatigue, reduced range of motion (ROM), and hand function. Although various types of drug are commonly used to manage the symptoms following CNP, there is a need for therapeutic exercise and alternative medicine interventions that have few side effects or are easy to apply. Present study investigated the effects of salt pack and neck exercise for life care of the elderly with non-specific CNP. Sixteen patients with non-specific CNP were recruited and randomly assigned into two groups: the intervention group (n=8) or the control group (n=8). All patients performed neck self-exercise for 30 min/day, 5 times a week for 1 week. And the subjects in the intervention group additionally received salt hot pack for 20 min per session. Visual analogue scale (VAS) and pain pressure threshold (PPT) using algometer were used to assess pain intensity (primary outcome). ROM of shoulder joint and grip strength were measured to test shoulder and hand function (secondary outcome). There were significant improvements in the intervention group (p<.05), while the subjects in the control group did not show a significant change after intervention (p>.05). Also, the intervention group show significant differences in VAS and PPT compared to the control group (p<.05). Thus, our results demonstrated that salt pack and neck exercise have a positive effect for life care in elderly patients with non-specific CNP.
Stainless rolling stocks are usually fabricated by spot welding process without painting. Indentation on the surface of the car body after spot welding injures the beauty of the stainless rolling stocks. In this study, insulated electrode tips to reduce the indentation are developed and applied to the actual spot welding works. The developed tips are composed of head, neck, hole for cooling water, body and resistance material. They provide large surface contact area with the base materials during spot welding and enhance the current density by necking. Experimental results using the developed tips show that small indentation and sufficient tensile shear strength is produced due to large contact area and enhanced current density.
Hole flanging experiments are performed on flat circular plates with a hole in the center and the flangeability and fracture behaviors of TRIP steels and ferrite-Bainite duplex steels were examined. In the hole flanging, deformation by lip and petalling occurs when plates are struck by punches of various shapes and high circumferential strains induced in the target material cause radial cracking and the subsequent rotation of the affected plate material in a number of symmetric petals. In all cases, failure of the plate was due to lip fracture that results from multiple localized neckings that take place around the hole periphery where straining is most severe and a somewhat regular pattern was observed in a fracture shape. The neck characteristics in flange formation and the transition from the lip to petal mode at which fracture occurs were compared with two materials.

In this study, bottom-up type powder processing and top-down type SPD (severe plastic deformation) approaches were combined in order to achieve full density of 1 vol.% carbon nanotube (CNT)-metal matrix composites with superior mechanical properties by improved particle bonding and least grain growth, which were considered as a bottle neck of the bottom-up method using the conventional powder metallurgy of compaction and sintering. ECAP (equal channel angular pressing), the most promising method in SPD, was used for the CNT-Cu powder consolidation. The powder ECAP processing with 1, 2, 4 and 8 route C passes was conducted at room temperature. It was found by mechanical testing of the consolidated 1 vol.% CNT-Cu that high mechanical strength could be achieved effectively as a result of the Cu matrix strengthening and improved particle bonding during ECAP. The ECAP processing of powders is a viable method to achieve fully density CNT-Cu nanocomposites.
In this study, bottom-up type powder processing and top-down type SPD (severe plastic deformation) approaches were combined in order to achieve both full density and grain refinement of Al-20 wt% Si powders without grain growth, which was considered as a bottle neck of the bottom-up method using the conventional powder metallurgy of compaction and sintering. ECAP (Equal channel angular pressing), one of the most promising method in SPD, was used for the powder consolidation. The powder ECAP processing with 1, 2, 4 and 8 passes was conducted for 10$0^{\circ}C$ and 20$0^{\circ}C$ It was found by microhardness, compression tests and micro-structure characterization that high mechanical strength could be achieved effectively as a result of the well bonded powder contact surface during ECAP process. The SPD processing of powders is a viable method to achieve both fully density and nanostructured materials.

Underwear made of plain and 1$\times$1 rib-knit cotton fabric were laundered to evaluate the change of the size and the tensile properties. For laundering pulsator and drum washers were used. After 30 washing cycles the amount of shrinkage and the extension were different with washer types. Underwear laundered by the drum type was shrunken in the neck line armhole line and hem line were extended and the bodice width and side length were shrunken,. Tensile strength of the knitted fabric was not decreased through repeated washings because the fabric density was increased. But it was confirmed by SEM that the surface of the fiber was damaged by washings.
This paper presents the strength safety of stress and deformation behaviors using the finite element method as a function of the thickness of the protective helmets with and without an extruder on the top of the shell structure. The helmet that would provide head and neck protections without causing discomfort to the user when it was worn for long periods of time should be manufactured for increasing the safety and impact energy absorption. The stress analyzed results show that when the impulsive force of 4,540N is applied on the top surface of a helmet, the safe thickness is 3.7mm for the conventional helmet and 3.2mm for the modified new helmet. Based on the deformation analysis, the FEM results recommend that the safe thickness is 3.2mm for the conventional helmet and 2.0mm for the modified new helmet. Thus, it may be more safe design of the helmet, which has an extruded structure on the summit surface of the helmet.
