  • This study reviewed the background of the advent of and the concept of age-integrated facilities where elderly persons' facilities and children's facilities have been built in the same plot or building or established adjacent to each other. And also it examined the concept, necessity, effects, and kinds of intergenerational interactions. Ten age-integrated facilities in Japan, where it is reported that intergenerational interactions are now being implemented, were selected and visited for surveys. This study implemented interviews with staff members and analyses of the drawings of the facilities to grasp the present state of age-integrated facilities and their plan types, etc. Through analyses of relationships between intergenerational interactions and the spaces in which these take place, this study discusses guidelines for space arrangement and for developing interaction space plans for age-integrated facilities that would facilitate intergenerational interactions.

  • On the side of that necessity, it is known that the development of Amorphous metal take effects on lowering eddy current loss in a core system. If a amorphous transformer and a motor to which "Amorphous Metal" is applied be widespread, electricity saving should be enormous with the several hundreds billion won of economic effects like cutting the cost of power plants and the unhealthy gases. This paper carried out general evaluation about the characters of Amorphous metal, the expected energy saving effects of a amorphous transformer, the environmental contribution, the increasement of electricity quality, and the features of harmonic.

  • The waiting time makes the customer be bored, and is the reason to obstruct the service quality evaluation. The managing waiting time appears to be the most important task, in accordance of physical inconvenience especially because the customers of the medical service are supplied in the unstabled status. Therefore, necessity and object of managing waiting time in the medical service were presented through the definition of waiting time and the consideration about preceding study, and the main cause of the waiting time was analyzed, furthermore the measure of actually indicated waiting time and various ideas for reducing the time were presented lastly as selecting a case study participative hospital for achieving the study object. This study will be one of role model as a solution to reduce the waiting time in each medical institution.

  • This study was carried on the analysis of food and nutrient intake for elementary school foodservices in Seoul. The survey was conducted through the 200 menus submitted by the 5 elementary schools in Seoul. Energy and all nutrient intakes exceeded the Recommended Daily Allowances of Koreans. Carbohydrate provided 56.32% of total energy intake; protein accounted for 16.06%; fat provided 27.62%. Total intake of food was 549 g on the average, which consisted of 90.04 g cereals, 130.17 g vegetables, 31.56 g meats, 21.63 g fishes and 200.00 g milks. The basic menu patterns were Rice+Soup (or Stew)+Kimchi, and 2 other side dishes including milk. These data underscore the necessity of developing the 'Standard Menu' for elementary school foodservices.

  • Although 19 years have passed since the enforcement of the Framework Act on Health and Medical Services, the Plans for Development of Health and Medical Services has not been established. This Plan is a 5-year basic long-term plan that covers the whole of health and medical services. This Plan should point to the direction of 30 long-term plans of healthcare, and this Plan should serve as a combination and coordination of 30 long-term plans and 22 related laws. The United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan have established long-term healthcare plans (4-, 10-, and 20-year plans, respectively). The long-term health plan of the United States has been approached bottom-up, those of the United Kingdom and Japan have been approached top-down. The rapid environmental changes that Korea is and will be experiencing emphasize urgently the need for establishing the Plan for Development of Health and Medical Services.

  • Many terminally ill cancer patients grapple with a range of physical, psychological, and social challenges. Therefore, it is critical to offer effective psychological interventions to assist them in managing these issues and enhancing their quality of life. This brief communication provides a concise overview of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), along with empirical evidence of its application for patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals in hospice and palliative care settings and an overview of future directions of ACT interventions in South Korea. ACT, a third-wave type of cognitive behavioral therapy, is a model of psychological flexibility that promotes personal growth and empowerment across all life areas. Currently, there is substantial evidence from overseas supporting the effectiveness of ACT on health-related outcomes among patients with various diseases, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. The necessity and significance of conducting ACT-based empirical research in hospice and palliative care settings in South Korea are discussed.

  • The number of buildings is increasing day by day. The next logical footstep is tackling challenges regarding scarcity of resources and sustainability, as well as shifting focus on existing building structures to renovate and retrofit. Many existing old and heritage buildings lack documentation, such as building models, despite their necessity. Technological advances allow us to use virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality on mobile platforms in various aspects of the construction industry. For these purposes, having a BIM model or high detail 3D model is not always necessary, as a simpler model can serve the purpose within many mobile platforms. This paper streamlines a framework for generating a lightweight 3D model for mobile platforms. In doing so, we use an existing structure's site survey data for the foundation data, followed by mobile VR implementation. This research conducted a pilot study on an existing building. The study provides a process of swiftly generating a lightweight 3D model of a building with relative accuracy and cost savings.
