Change on Lens Accommodation and Pupil Light Reflex in VDT works (VDT작업이 안 조절반응과 동공 대광반사에 미치는 영향)

  • We studied on change of lens accommodation and pupil light reflex caused by VDT work in six women and compared them with those of other office works. The results were as follows. 1. In VDT work the accommodation contraction velocity decreased during the first 2-hr VDT task, then recovered markedly by the end of the one-hour lunch break, and decreased again by the end of the 2nd 2-hr VDT task. Changes of relaxation velocity showed similar pattern although it was less typical than that of contraction velocity 2. There was no marked change in accommodation contraction velocity and amplitude of accommodation in general office work and near-distance office work, and in the near-distance office work accommodation relaxation velocity decreased according to work load without recovery after lunch break. 3. Initial pupil diameter, initial pupil area of light reflex decreased significantly during VDT task only in VDT work and didn't recover after lunch break. These results suggest possibility that changes of accommodation contraction velocity, accommodation relaxation velocity, near point distance, and pupil diameter and area are useful in evaluating characteristics of VDT work. For this, more research adjusted individual differences, circadian rhythm, emotional stress needs.

  • The physical phenomena of rectangular open cavity are numerically investigated in this paper Two-dimensional cavity problems with laminar boundary layers in upstream are simulated by using the compressible Wavier-Stokes equations. The high-order and high-resolution numerical schemes are used for the evaluation of spatial derivatives and the time integration. Cross-correlation is used to analyze the characteristics of wave propagation along time and spatial. Sudden phase shifting of 90 degrees is appeared near downstream edge, and this is coincident with the phase lag suggested in original Rossiter's equation. The results give a further understanding of the physical phenomenon of noise generation, and the resonance of flow and acoustic in cavity. Moreover, modified Rossiter's equation, which is more accurate and can be applied in various conditions, is suggested. The distance from the point of vortex generation to the point of vortex collapsing acts as effective distance of cavity resonance, and the phase difference between the point of vortex collapsing and the point of acoustic source acts as phase lag.   • Laser induced surface hardening of Tool steel(STC5) can be achieved either with or without surface melting. In trans-formation hardening as the surface is heated to a temperature below its melting point and is rapidly cooled solidified microstructures are usually much finer and stronger than those of the base matals. For this reason surface modification of tool steel by YAG laser irradiation has been studied as a function of processing parameters such as power density pulse width defocusing distance and molten depth. The high energy density changes and refines the microstructure of the near surface layer. In the case of beam passes martensite formed in the melt zone exhibited very high vickers hardness values. Molten depth and width depend on defocusing distance and energy of black color painting is more absorptive than other color painting.

  • Rendezvous point is used to gather the data from sensor nodes and send to sink node efficiently in selected area. It incurs a unbalanced energy consumption nearby the rendezvous point which can shorten the network life time shortly. Thus, it is very important to select the rendezvous point effectively among all sensors in order to not drain the battery of a sensor node in construction sites. In this paper, we propose a rendezvous point replacement mechanism which considers remaining energy of nodes to prolong the network lifetime. Also, for shortening the distance of drone at the same time, it increases the probability of the near-by drone node becoming rendezvous point. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme can significantly improve the network lifetime and the flight distance compared with the existing LEACH, L-LEACH algorithm.

The Effects of Obstacle Aspect Ratio on Surrounding Flows (장애물 외관비가 주변 흐름에 미치는 영향)

  • The characteristics of flow around a single obstacle with fixed height and varied length and width are numerically investigated using a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model. As the obstacle length increases, flow distortion near the upwind side of the obstacle increases and the size of the recirculation zone behind the obstacle also increases. As the obstacle width increases, the size of the recirculation zone decreases, despite almost invariable flow distortion near the upwind side of the obstacle. Flow passing through an obstacle is separated, one part going around the obstacle and the other crossing over the obstacle. The size of the recirculation zone is determined by the distance between the obstacle and the point (reattachment point) at which both the flows converge. When the obstacle width is relatively large, flows are reattached at the obstacle surface and their recoveries occur. Resultant shortening of the paths of flows crossing over and going around decreases the size of the recirculation zone. To support this, the extent of flow distortion defined based on the change in wind direction is analyzed. The result shows that flow distortion is largest near the ground surface and decreases with height. An increase in obstacle length increases the frontal area fraction of flow distortion around the obstacle. In the cases of increasing the width, the frontal area fraction near the upwind side of the obstacle does not change much, but near the downwind side, it becomes larger as the width increases. The frontal area fraction is in a better correlation with the size of the recirculation zone than the building aspect ratios, suggesting that the frontal area fraction is a good indicator for explaining the variation in the size of the recirculation zone with the building aspect ratios.

  • Arctic shipping via the Northern Sea Route could save about 40% of the sailing distance and shorten more than 10 days of the sailing time from Asia to Europe comparing to the existing Southern route through the Suez Canal. Since commercial voyage along the Northern Sea Route and resource development in the Arctic sea will be realized in the near future, Korea needs to challenge Arctic shipping and resource development in the strategic point of view.

A Study for the Change of Astigmatism Axis When the Fixation Point Moved Far Distance to Near Distance (원거리에서 근거리 주시 시 난시축 변화에 대한 연구)

  • When the fixation point moved far distance to near distance, the change of astigmatism type in total astigmatism showed no-changed eyes: 1,020 eyes (63.8%), changed eyes: 578 eyes(36.1 %). The change of with-the-rule into oblique-astigmatism, oblique-astigmatism into with-the-rule, against-the-rule into oblique-astigmatism of change was plenty the most respectively. In corneal astigmatism was no-changed eyes: 1,164 eyes (72.8%), changed eyes: 434 eyes(27.1%). In residual astigmatism was no-changed eyes: 614 eyes(38.4%), cyclotorsioned eyes the above 10 degrees : 984 eyes(62.5%). The magnitude of cyclotorsion of astigmatism axis in total astigmatism was Counter clockwise rotation: 31 degrees, clockwise rotation: 20 degrees. In coneal astigmatism was Counter clockwise rotation: 25 degrees, clockwise rotation: 27 degrees. In residual astigmatism was Counter clockwise rotation: 33 degrees, clockwise rotation: 35 degrees.

Study on the Structures of the Nozzle for the Spray (분무기용(噴霧機用) Nozzle의 구조(構造)에 관한 연구(硏究))

  • The aim of this study was to provide the reasonable data for design of the nozzle which produces finer droplets on the same level of the effective travel distance or which transports droplets to the farther target on the reasonable atomization in comparison with the commercial nozzles being used much in Korean rural areas. Newly designed twin-fluid atomizers with some commercial nozzles were tested in this study, and their results were as follows : 1. The characteristics of the spray deposit distribution of No.1 nozzles for farther target were nearly same in the near or nearer travel distance less than 8m. Therefore it was reasonable to combine the characteristics of the spray deposit distributions of No.2 and No.3 nozzles to those of No.1 nozzle. 2. The effective travel distance was increased with increase of the sectional area of the jet ligament, and the maximum effective travel distance was reached to about 17m. 3. The droplet size was increased with increase of the sectional area of the jet ligament, and the maximum droplet size was produced in the front of the point of the maximum spray deposit distribution. 4. The atomization was excellent in the twin-fluid atomizer in comparison with the hydraulic atomizer and also the effective travel distances were nearly same level in both atomizers.

Performance Analysis of Landing Point Designation Technique Based on Relative Distance to Hazard for Lunar Lander (달 착륙선의 위험 상대거리 기반 착륙지 선정기법 성능 분석)

  • Lidar-based hazard avoidance landing system for lunar lander calculates hazard cost with respect to the desired local landing area in order to identify hazard and designate safe landing point where the cost is minimum basically using slope and roughness of the landing area. In this case, if the parameters are only considered, chosen landing target can be designated near hazard threatening the lander. In order to solve this problem and select optimal safe landing point, hazard cost based on relative distance to hazard should not be considered as well as cost based on terrain parameters. In this paper, the effect of hazard cost based on relative distance to hazard on safe landing performance was analyzed and it was confirmed that landing site designation with two relative distances to hazard results in the best safe landing performance by an experiment using three-dimensional depth camera.
