  • We investigate the microstructural and magnetic property changes of $DyH_2$, $Cu+DyH_2$, and $Al+DyH_2$ diffusion-treated NdFeB sintered magnets with the post annealing (PA) temperature. The coercivity of all the diffusion-treated magnets increases with increasing heat treatment temperature except at $910^{\circ}C$, where it decreases slightly. Moreover, at $880^{\circ}C$, the coercivity increases by 3.8 kOe in Cu and 4.7 kOe in Al-mixed $DyH_2$-coated magnets, whereas this increase is relatively low (3.0 kOe) in the magnet coated with only $DyH_2$. Both Cu and Al have an almost similar effect on the coercivity improvement, particularly over the heat treatment temperature range of $790-880^{\circ}C$. The diffusivity and diffusion depth of Dy increases in those magnets that are treated with Cu or Al-mixed $DyH_2$, mainly because of the comparatively easy diffusion path provided by Cu and Al owing to their solubility in the Nd-rich grain boundary phase. The formation of a highly anisotropic $(Nd,\;Dy)_2Fe_{14}B$ phase layer, which acts as the shell in the core-shell-type structure so as to prevent the reverse domain movement, is the cause of enhanced coercivity of diffusion-treated Nd-Fe-B magnets.

  • Magnetic properties of the isotropic and anisotropic NdFeB magnets obtained by the Current-Applied Pressure-Assisted (CAPA) process from a melt-spun NdFeB powder were investigated using B-H loop analyser. The coercivity of the isotropic magnets is sensitive to the applied pressure in the CA-pressing and increases with increasing the pressure. The remanence of the anisotropic magnet increases with increasing the degree of deformation, and it results in the increase of a maximum energy Product. The best magnetic Properies of the isotropic and anistropic magnet are B$\sub$r/= 8.7 kG, $\sub$i/H$\sub$c/= 16.9 kOe, (BH)$\sub$max/= 16.5 and B$\sub$r/= 13.6 kG, $\sub$i/H$\sub$c/= 10.9 kOe, (BH)$\sub$max/= 44.2 MGOe, respectively.

  • Nd-Fe-B high performance magnets were prepared by die-upset forging. The effects of the deformation parameters on magnetic properties and flow stress were studied. Deformation temperatures in the range of $600{\sim}900^{\circ}C$ enable to achieve an effective anisotropy and temperature $800^{\circ}C$ proves to be suitable for deformation of Nd-Fe-B magnets. The amount of c-axis alignment along the press direction seems to depend on the amount of deformation and a saturation behavior is shown at deformation ratio of 75%. Magnetic properties are also related to strain rate, and maximum energy product is attained at an optimum strain rate of ${\varphi}=1{\times}10^{-2}s^{-1}$. By analyzing the relationship of stress and strain at different deformation temperature during die-upset forging process, deformation behavior of Nd-Fe-B magnets was studied and parameters for describing plastic deformation were obtained. Nd-rich boundary liquid phase, which is additionally decreasing the flow stress during deformation, is supposed to play the role of diffusion path and enhance the diffusion rate.

  • By applying Current-applied Pressure-Assisted process, we could obtain full dense isotropic and anisotropic NdFeB magnets from rapidly quenched MQP-A powder. The Nd contents are found to play an important role during the CA-press and CA-deformation process. The (BH)$\sub$max/ of CA-pressed and CA-deformed magnets are 131 kJ/㎥(16.5 MGOe) and 352 kJ/㎥(44.2 MGOe), respectively. The texture of CA-deformed anisotropic NdFeB magnets with thickness reduction was investigated by pole figure, and the (006) texture was increase with the increase of thickness reduction. With the increment in thickness reduction from 50%, 60% to 80%, W$\sub$50/ decreases from 76$\^$$^{\circ}$/, 62.5$\^$$^{\circ}$/ to 17$\^$$^{\circ}$/, respectively.

  • Using the current-applied pressure-assisted (CAPk) process, we could obtain fully dense isotropic and anisotropic NdFeB magnets from rapidly quenched MQP-A powder. The Nd content is found to play an important role during the current applied (CA)-pressing and CA-deformation processes. The $(BH)_max$ of CA-pressed and CA-deformed magnets are 131 kJ/$m^3$ (16.5 MGOe) and 352 kJ/$m^3$(44.2 MGOe), respectively. The change in texture of CA-deformed anisotropic NdFeB magnets with thickness reduction was investigated by pole figures and the (006) texture was found to increase with greater thickness reductions. As the thickness reduction increases from 50% to 60% to 80%, $W_50$ (the average angle of the contour with 50% intensity) decreases from $76^\circ$to $62.5^\circ$to $17^\circ$.

  • The attempt for the addition of double-phase nanocomposite $Nd_2Fe_{14}BFe_3B$ powders, respectively, into several $RE_2Fe_{14}B$(RE=Pr, Nd) powders with high magnetic properties was carried out. The powders were compounded and compressed to take shape bonded magnets. By means of investigating the variation of compound magnet $B_r$, the interaction between magnetic powders was revealed. The result shows that not chemical just but physical interaction exists between elements. The compound effect of $Nd_2Fe_{14}BFe_3B$-ferrite bonded magnets was detailed studied. The functional relation was revealed between magnetic properties and ferrite content. That is $Y = 5.42 x^2 -11.34x + 6.62$. The variation of $_iH_c$ temperature coefficient ${\beta}_{iHc}$ with ferrite content was investigated. Following the ferrite content increased, ${\beta}_{iHc}$ and $h_{irr}$ were obviously decreased, compression-resistant strength was enhanced.

  • Nanostructed high energy Nd-Fe-B based bulk magnet can be prepared by hot-working process (hot press and die-upset) from melt-spun amorphous or nanocrystalline powder.[1] Recently, we have investigated a modified method, current-applied pressure-assisted (CAPA) process, to produce nanocrystalline isotropic and anisotropic NdFeB magnets. The process consists of current-applied pressing the melt-spun powders to obtain isotropic precursor subsequent current-applied deforming the precursor to obtain textured magnet.[2-3] (omitted)

  • The article presents the results and findings obtained through the assembly of opposing linear Halbach arrays from two magnet layers using large magnetic blocks from permanent NdFeB magnets, especially concerning the distribution of magnetic induction in an air gap. The use of these large blocks has led to a significant expansion of the area of magnetic field with a substantially higher value of magnetic induction in comparison with similar linear Halbach arrays composed of small magnets. The paper also discusses the determined dependences of magnetic induction on the parameters of the x, y, z coordinate system and indicates the possibilities of achieving an even stronger magnetic field in a larger volume of an air gap for application for instance in equipment for magnetic separation of raw materials, in instrument technologies and in other areas.

  • The addition of Co into $Nd_4Fe_{77.5-x}Co_x(HfGa)_yB_{18.5}(0$\leq$x$\leq$5, y=0, 0.5)4 was found to enhance the magnetic properties of $Fe_3B/Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ nanocomposite magnets. The enhancement resulted from the fact that Co retarded the crystallization of $\alpha$-Fe or Fe3B but accelerated that $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$. The decreased interval between the onset of crystallization temperature of Fe3B and $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$. phases enabled the grain growth of each phase to be uniform dufing a post annealing of the melt spun ribbons. The addition of 3~5 at. % Co into ternary composition $Md_4Fe_{77.5}B_{18.5}$ increased the coercivity (iHc) from 3.27 to 3.54 kOe with the enhanced remanence value (4$\pi$Mr) around 11.54 kG. From the ribbon magnets of Nd4Fe71.5Co5Hf0.5B18.5 made at 26 m/sec and annealed at 68$0^{\circ}C$ for 10 min, the magnetic properties of Br=11.54 kG, iHc=3.54 kOe, and (BH)max=14.35 MGOe were obtained from volume production line.

  • In this study, the effect of Tb inward diffusion on the magnetic properties of the Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets was studied. After sintering of the magnets, $TbF_3$ slurries were dip-coated on the surface of the samples, then heat-treatment was followed for $TbF_3$ diffusion. The element distribution in the magnets and the diffusion profiles of Tb ions were analyzed by an EPMA (electron probe micro-analyzer). Prolonged heat treatment resulted in a deeper diffusion length of Tb ions. Coercivity of the $1^{st}$ heat-treated sample showed 21.86 kOe, while that of the $1^{st}$, $2^{nd}$ heat-treated and annealed sample revealed 34 kOe.
