에너지수확소자용 친환경 (Li0.04(Na0.56K0.44)0.96(Nb0.9Ta0.10)0.998Zn0.005O3 세라믹스의 유전 및 압전 특성 (Dielectric and Piezoelectric Properties of Environmantal Friendly(Li0.04(Na0.56K0.44)0.96(Nb0.9Ta0.10)0.998Zn0.005O3 Ceramics for Energy Harvesting Devices)

  • In this paper, the $0.995(Li_{0.04}(Na_{0.56}K_{0.44})_{0.96}(Nb_{0.90}Ta_{0.10})_{0.998}Zn_{0.005}O_3+0.005KNbO_3+xwt%\;TeO_2$ lead-free piezoelectric ceramics for energy harvesting devices were fabricated by the conventional mixed oxide method. The microstructure, dielectric, and piezoelectric properties were investigated as a function of the $TeO_2$ addition. All the specimens showed an orthorhombic phase structure. At the composition ceramics doped with 0.1 wt%$TeO_2$, the optimum values of $d_{33}$= 212 pC/N, $d_{33}{\cdot}g_{33}=9.54pm^2/N$, and kp=0.448 were obtained, respectively. The results indicate that the composition ceramics is a promising candidate for energy harvesting devices applications.

Thermal Stability, Mechanical Properties and Magnetic Properties of Fe-based Amorphous Ribbons with the Addition of Mo and Nb

  • The metallic glass ribbons of $[(Fe_xCo_{1-x})_{0.75}B_{0.2}Si_{0.05}]_{96}Mo_4$ (x = 0, 0.3, 0.6, 0.9 at.%) and $[(Fe_xCo_{1-x})_{0.75}B_{0.2}Si_{0.05}]_{96}Nb_4$ (x = 0, 0.3, 0.6, 0.9 at.%) were obtained by melt spinning with 25-30 ${\mu}m$ thickness. The thermal stability, mechanical properties and magnetic properties of Fe-Co-B-Si based systems were investigated. The values of thermal stability were measured using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), including glass transition temperature ($T_g$), crystallization temperature ($T_x$) and supercooled liquid region (${\Delta}T_x=T_x-T_g$). These amorphous ribbons were identified as fully amorphous, using X-ray diffraction (XRD). The mechanical properties of Febased samples were measured by nano-indentation. Magnetic properties of the amorphous ribbons were measured by a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The amorphous ribbons of $[(Fe_xCo_{1-x})_{0.75}B_{0.2}Si_{0.05}]_{96}Mo_4$ (x = 0, 0.3, 0.6, 0.9 at.%) and $[(Fe_xCo_{1-x})_{0.75}B_{0.2}Si_{0.05}]_{96}Nb_4$ (x = 0, 0.3, 0.6, 0.9 at.%) exhibited soft magnetic properties with low coercive force ($H_c$) and high saturation magnetization (Ms).

  • We report some methods for measuring a LiNbO$_3$ optical phase modulator bandwidth. Since Mach-Zehnder waveguide type, one of methods for modulation bandwidth measurement, is comparatively simple and useful, it was adapted in this work. In order to confirm this method, the waveguide of single and Mach-Zehnder type were fabricated on the same wafer. The Mach-Zehnder interferometric waveguide and the single channel waveguide were used for the measurement of the phase modulator's driving voltage and bandwidth for device fabrications, respectively. Ti-860$\AA$ in-diffusion was achieved in a wet-bubbling oxygen environment at 105$0^{\circ}C$/8hours. LINbO$_3$ internal chips were pigtailed to PMF(polarization maintaining fiber)/SMF(single mode fiber) using an epoxy curing technique. Examined were optical properties such as an insertion loss, propagation loss and mode size, and the loss mechanism of optical coupling between an optical fiber and a waveguide was considered.

${Fe_2}{O_3}$ 첨가에 따른 t-$ZrO_2$/${Al_2}{O_3}$ 복합체의 기계적 및 광학적 특성 (Effect of ${Fe_2}{O_3}$ Addition on Mechanical and Optical Properties of t-$ZrO_2$/${Al_2}{O_3}$ Composites)

  • Tetragonal (t)-ZrO2/Al2O3 composites doped with Y2O3, Nb2O5, and Fe2O3 ((Y, Nb, Fe)-TZP/Al2O3) were prepared over the range containing Fe2O3 from 0.1 to 0.5 mol% with 0.1 mol% intervals to evaluate the effect of Fe2O3 addition on chromaticity, hydrothermal stability, and mechanical property of the composites. After autoclaving for 20 h at 18$0^{\circ}C$ under 3.5 MPa water vapor pressure, no tlongrightarrowm phase transformation was observed probably due to the preferential solid solubility of Fe2O3 in Al2O3, the presence of the rigid Al2O3 particles, and the inherent phase stability of (Y, Nb)-TZP. The optimized strength and the fracture toughness of the composite were 700 MPa and 8.5 MPa.m1/2, respectively, when 0.1 mol% Fe2O3 was added. The composites have shown a gradual color change from a slightly white ivory to a pale yellowish brown with increasing the Fe2O3 concentration.

Formation Condition and Ferroelectric Properties of Niobate Tetragonal Tungsten Bronze (TTB) Type Ferroelectrics

  • Crystal structure of $Ba_5-5X$Y$_10/3$Nb$_10$O$_30$ was tried to determine by Rietveld analysis using powder X-ray diffraction data. This compound has tetragonal tungsten bronze (TTB) structure with general formula, (Al)$_2$(A2)$_4$(B1)$_2$(B2)$_8$(O1)$_8$(O2)$_8$(O3)$_4$(O4)$_2$(O5)$_4$(O6)$_4$. However, it was difficult to determine the distribution of Ba and Y in Al and A2 sites by the analysis only. Combination of Rietveld analysis and site potentials calculation as well as lattice energy calculations helped to determine the distribution. As the result, it was clarified that $Ba^2+$ cations occupy A2 (pentagonal tunnel site) and $Y^3+$ cations occupy Al (cubic site). The distribution of cations at each site coincides with the distribution estimated by the difference of ionic radii. This supports the formation condition of TTB which was proposed in our previous report. $Ba_5-5X$Y$_10X/3$Nb$_10$O$_30$ shows ferroelectric characteristics. In this compound, remanent polarization decreases slightly with the composition X. On the other hand, the result of crystal structure determination reveals that atomic positions along c-axis for A1, A2, B1 and B2 cations are also decreased with the composition X. This would suggest that the dependence of remanent polarization on composition X is derived by the dependence of atomic coordinates on composition X.

  • Pb(Zr,Ti)$O_3$ (PZT) based ceramics with superior piezoelectric properties have been extensively used in various domestic and industrial appliances. However, PZT ceramics causing environmental contamination and health problems need to be eventually replaced by any of Pb-free materials. $(Na_{0.53}K_{0.47})(Nb_{1-x}Ta_x)O_3$ (NKNT), one of Pb-free piezoelectric ceramics, has long been known but its properties are not fully understood and developed. In this study, dielectric and piezoelectric properties of Pb-free NKNT ceramics were studied with Ta substitution for B-site at x = 0~0.6. It was found that polymorphic phase transition (PPT) between orthorhombic and tetragonal phases was notably influenced by Ta substitution. The highest piezoelectric coefficient ($d_{33}$) of 284 pC/N was occurred at x = 0.45.

  • In this study, piezoelectric and dielectric properties of Lead-free $0.97[(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5})(Nb_{0.97}Sb_{0.03})O_3]+0.03[(Bi_{0.5}K_{0.5})TiO_3]$ (abbreviated as 0.97NKNS-0.03BKT)ceramics synthesized by conventional solid-state reaction process were investigated as a function of $K_{5.4}Cu_{1.3}Ta_{10}O_{29}$ addition. The results indicated that the $K_{5.4}Cu_{1.3}Ta_{10}O_{29}$ addition significantly improved the sinterability, grain growth and piezoelctric properties of 0.97NKNS-0.03BKT ceramics. The optimum values as planar piezoelectric coupling coefficient ($k_p$= 0.355), piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}$= 207 pC/N) and mechanical quality factor ($Q_m$= 128) were obtained when 0.009KCT was added. The electromechanical coupling factor($k_p$) was slightly decreased according to the increasing temperature.

  • The nitride layer was formed on Ti and Ti-10 wt.%Ta-10 wt.%Nb alloy by a plasma nitriding method. Temperature was selected as the main experimental parameter for plasma nitriding. XRD, EDX, and hardness test were employed to analyze the evolution and material properties of the layer. The SEM observation of TiN nitride layer revealed that the thickness of nitride layer tended to increase with increasing temperature. ${\delta}-TiN$, ${\varepsilon}-Ti_{2}N$ and ${\alpha}-Ti$ phases were detected by XRD analysis and the preferred orientation of TiN nitride layer was obviously observed at (220) plane with increasing temperature. From XRD analysis after step polishing the nitride specimens treated at $850^{\circ}C$, as polishing from the surface, TiN and $Ti_{2}N$ phases decreased gradually. After polishing the surface by $4{\um}m$, a small amount of $Ti_{2}N$ and ${\alpha}-Ti$ phases were observed. The adhesive strength test result indicated that adhesive strength increased with increasing temperature.

$Li_2CO_3$ 첨가에 따른 저온소결 PZN-PZT 세라믹스의 유전 및 압전특성 (Dielectric and Piezoelectric Properties of Low Temperature Sintering PZN-PZT Ceramics with a variation of $Li_2CO_3$ Addition)

  • 압전액츄에이터 및 초음파진동자는 전자제품의 소형화 및 경량화, 의료기기, 모바일기기 및 소형로붓의 발전에 힘입어 그 활용범위가 넓게 확장되고 있다. 1960년 Smolenski등에 의해 $A(B_1,B_2)O_3$형 복합 페로브스카이트 구조를 갖는 강유전성 세라믹스에 대한 연구가 시작된 이래 $Pb(Co,Nb)O_3-Pb(Zr,Ti)O_3$, $Pb(Zn,Nb)O_3-Pb(Zr,Ti)O_3$, $Pb(Mg,Nb)O_3-Pb(Zr,Ti)O_3$ 등 3성분계 세라믹스의 유전, 압전 및 강유전 특성에 대한 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 그러나 압전성이 우수한 세라믹스들은 Pb가 포함되어 있기 때문에 $1000^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 PbO가 급격하게 휘발되는 성질에 따라서 조성의 변동이 생겨 재현성이 어려우며 이를 방지하기 위하여 과잉 PbO를 첨가시키기 때문에 환경오염뿐만 아니라, 경제적인 측면에서도 많은 문제점을 가지고 있다. 소결조제를 이용한 산화물 첨가법은 PbO의 휘발을 억제하는 저온소결 방법중 가장 효과적인 방법으로 알려져 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 적층형 압전액츄에이터로 사용하기위한 저온소결 압전세라믹스를 개발하기 위하여 PZN-PZT세라믹스에 $Li_2CO_3$, $Bi_2O_3$, CuO 를 소결조제로 사용하여 $Li_2CO_3$의 첨가량 변화에 따른 압전 및 유전 특성을 관찰하였다.

스핀-코팅법으로 제작한 K(Ta,Nb)O3/Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 이종층 박막의 전기 열량 효과 (Electrocaloric Effect in Heterolayered K(Ta,Nb)O3/Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 Thin Films Fabricated by Spin-Coating Method)

  • Heterolayered K(Ta,Nb)O3/Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 thin films on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates were prepared by a sol-gel process and spin-coating method. The structural and electrical properties were measured to investigate the possibility of application as an electrocaloric effect device. All specimens exhibited dense and uniform cross-sectional structures without pores, and the average thickness of the specimen coated six times was approximately 394 nm. Curie temperatures were observed at 5℃ or less in type-I and 10℃ in type-II specimens, respectively. Type-II specimens coated 6 times showed a relative dielectric constant of 758 and remanent polarization of 9.71 μC/㎠ at room temperature. The maximum electrocaloric effect occurred between 20 and 25℃, slightly higher than their Curie temperature, and the electrocaloric property (ΔT) of the type-II specimens coated 6 times was approximately 1.2℃ at room temperature.
