Objectives : Hakomi therapy is a body-centered psychotherapy established by Ron Kurtz in the 80s. Here we introduce the clinical possibilities of application in Korean medicine through Hakomi therapy. Methods : At first, we present the definition, basic principles, terms and outline of Hakomi therapy in reference to "Body-centered psychotherapy The Hakomi Method," published by Ron Kurtz. Then we study the clinical application of Hakomi therapy on Korean medicine. Results : There are many similarities between Hakomi and Korean medicine, such as Mind-Body holism, organicity through homeostasis of living things, non-violent attitude of therapist like Tao, and emphasis on breathing by corresponding with Nature. Also, there are similarities in methods, such as Ohjisangseung, Iijungbyunqi, and Qigong. Hence, Hakomi therapy can be useful in Korean psychotherapy. Conclusions : If we can graft Hakomi therapy onto Korean psychotherapy, it will be efficacious for Korean psychotherapy to be systematized.

Oriental medicine which is based on internal activeness has constantly been developed for over thousands years and during that time it has encountered Western medicine that has the different system. Because of a lot of different viewpoints of how to understand human and nature, there exist lots of problems to cope with for the integration of two medicines as follows: (1) Oriental medicine regards each person as a cosmos in miniature but Western medicine is based on dualism, substantialism and mechanism. (2) Oriental medicine thinks much of totality as a cosmos in a miniature but Western medicine investigates individual structure and function of human organ and system. (3) Oriental medicine considers that organs are the core of the Oriental medical physiology and makes much account of their functions and their relationships with fundamental texture, but Western medicine gives much emphasis on the structure than functions. Despite of these differences, Oriental medicine and Western medicine should develop mutual understanding and this will facilitate the achievement of the third medicine that is suitable for the primary object of medicine that is to enhance human health and cure diseases.

1. Objectives The purpose of this case study is to evaluate the effects of Sasangconstitutional diagnosis and treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria patient who was diagnosed Taeeumin Dry-Heat Syndrome(煥熱證). 2. Methods Chronic idiopathic urticaria patient was diagnosed Taeeumin Dry-Heat Syndrome(煥熱證) based on their Nature & Emotion(性情), physical characteristics, symptoms. She was medicated Cheongsimyeonjatang(淸心蓮子湯). 3. Results and Conclusions Chronic idiopathic urticaria patient who was treated with Cheongsimyeonjatang(淸心蓮子湯) showed improvement in urticaria symptom and general condition. This case study describe the effectiveness on Chronic idiopathic urticaria symptom by using Cheongsimyeonjang(淸心蓮子湯).

It studies into viewpoints of 7 doctors of Wenbing studies on macula. The results concerning characteristics, remedy and prevention of macula are as follows; Macule does not protrude on the surface of skin and does not have any color change for external stimulus, but rash out on the surface and becomes white when pushed. It becomes macule when the blood leaks beneath skin as stomach-heat of yangming enters into blood system and damages it. On the other hand, when heat enters lung meridian, penetrates beneath the skin and congeals inside the vessel, it becomes rash. When you combine symptoms of body and pulse with numbers, color, shape and distribution status of macula, you can diagnose the depth of rash, seriousness, the possibility of treatment and prognosis of macula. The remedy for macule consists of cooling heat of yaming, removing heat from the blood and relieving feverish rash, and the one for rash consists of facilitating meridian with aroma, expelling pathogenic factors from muscles with drugs of pungent flavor and cool nature and clearing away heat from the blood systems. It relieves the inhibited functional activities of lung-Ki, and helps extermination of rash as well as clearing heat of the vessel. Also, it is the most important to preserve resin of stomach for every treatment. It is good to avoid expelling pathogenic factors with drugs of pungent flavor and warm nature, raising drugs and invigorating drugs during treating macula. Moreover, the patients should not over dose cold-natured drugs and purgative therapy. There are common clinical symptoms of macula in advance, so right recognition of symptoms can contribute to prevention of macula.

The Internet is increasingly changing our lives and enables the ordinary person to have access to never-ending quantities of information and knowledge. Technology and the Internet empower individuals and facilitate a more active role in the educational process. The webcast is a media file distributed over the Internet using streaming media technology and is used extensively in the commercial sector for investor relations presentations, in e-learning, and for related communications activities. And relating to computers, technology, and news are particularly popular and many new shows are added regularly. Especially e-learning is a general term used to refer to computer-enhanced learning and has the ability to level the learning playing field. So that the e-learning experience will be second nature to the growing Internet population. And this study intends to develop web-based education.

The medical and healthy paradigm is changing by various reasons such as improving of life quality, the limit of western medicine, demographic changes and so on. And the demand, interest and market size of traditional medicine(TM) and complementary and alternative medicine(CAM) are increasing continuously and there is a good traditional medicine called TKM(Traditional Korean Medicine) in Korea. TKM have differentiated characteristics like nature-friendly, systematic, preventive and personalized medicine from western medicine. TKM with these characteristics have possibility to increase national competitiveness and contribute to growth of economy. At this time, it is necessary to select key area of TKM R&D to increase competitiveness of TKM and to create new growth engine. In this paper, we suggest key area of TKM R&D through SWOT analysis, the analysis of world traditional medicine and expert's counsel. As a result, 3 key area and 10 specific fields of TKM R&D was selected, which they are 'the standardization for TKM technology and technique', 'the development of generic technology based on TKM' and 'the establishment of infrastructure for TKM information and material'. This study may contribute to make plan for TKM research and policy such as TKM middle and long term plan and TKM promotion plan.

The above study is based upon the Theory of Five Woon(Reasons) and Six Qi(Climates), namely Five dynamic Yin and Yang, the principle of five-six combination, the rules of ten periodically changing Woon and twelve periodically changing Qi, and its reference to the main chapters of the theory by several experts. After careful, comprehensive research and study, the followings are concluded. 1. The Theory of Five Woon and Six Qi controls all of the physical phenomena of the universe, yet it originates from Essence of the Sky that is replete and in constant motion within the abysmal expanse of the universe. So it is natural to claim that it is the Essence of the universe that is the source of the variety of phenomena in nature. 2. There is order of dynamics in the Essence and it is Yin Yang Five Movement and expressed by Five Woon and Six Qi. Therefore the Five Woon and Six Qi, which is the climatic changes of nature, is the basis and condition for all of the natural, physical occurrences including the organic phenomena of human beings. 3. Since the Sky embodied the number Five, and the Earth the number Six, Qi of the Sky itself is consequently Five Woon and Qi of the Earth itself is Six Qi. 4. In Sixty Repetition Intervals (Yuk Sip Kap Ja), the Sky took the number Six, designating the six times repetition of the ten Intervals of the Sky and the Earth chose the number Five, symbolizing five times recurrence of the twelve Intervals of the Earth. Though the number for the Sky is Five and the number for the Earth is Six, the two combine and interact in order for the Sky to exploit the number Six and for the Earth to use the number Five. This interplay implies the relationship of operation and principle of Yin in Yang and Yang in Yin. 5. There seems to be clear and intimate association between five dynamics, five bearings and five Qi' in nature and five organs, five stamina, and five emotions in physiological activities of human beings. Such an correlation apparently demonstrates the idea of climatic changes of the universe in balance among human beings, the Sky, and the Earth. 6. Because nature is of an endlessly dynamic organism itself, to have changes must mear there being movements. Thus the climatic changes in nature are the subsequent consummation of the interaction in mutual balance and unbalance of the rise and fall of the Five Woon and Six Qi. 7. The interpretation, by Chang Ji Chong of "Yin and Yang of the Sky are for birth and growth and Yin and Yang of the Earth for demise and interment" as an explanation that the first half is mainly for life and the second half for death, appears to be correct by his view that there is balance and harmony between the long and short and the strong and weak. 8. In addition to Three Yang and Three Yin, as attributes of the Intervals of the Sky and the twelve Intervals of the Earth, Five Woon and Six Qi are utilized in the annual observation of the perpetual changes of climates.

Continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) peritonitis is a major complication of peritoneal dialysis (PD) and leads to the discontinuation of PD. Despite its limited pathogenicity, CAPD peritonitis caused by Stenotrophomonas maltophilia (S. maltophilia), an important nosocomial pathogen that is present in nature and is usually associated with plastic indwelling devices. Infection of S. maltophilia is associated with a poor prognosis, including inability to maintain the CAPD catheter, because of its resistance to multiple antibiotics. We report a case of CAPD peritonitis due to S. maltophilia that was treated successfully using oral Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole and intraperitoneal Ticarcillin/clavulanate without removing the dialysis catheter.

Caprylic/Capric triglyceride-in-water emulsions stabilized by Nikkol HCO-60 and HCO-10 were prepared using emulsion inversion point method at different HLB values. Emulsions with various droplet sizes were formed, and emulsion inversion point was detected by electrical conductivity. The change in emulsion droplet sizes and long term stability were monitored using laser scattering method and visual method. The droplet sizes and stability of emulsions were affected by HLB of surfactant. At emulsion inversion point, the water volume fraction increased as the HLB of surfactants decreased. According to our analysis, this resulted from a tendency of forming the W/O (water-in-oil) emulsion as the HLB of surfactants was decreased. The emulsion inversion point was clearly detected by the microscope and the electric conductivity meter. Nanometer-sized emulsion was obtained at the optimum HLB by using emulsion inversion point method. The main pattern of instability of emulsions in HLB 12 and 13 systems was Ostwald ripening. However, The patterns of instability of emulsions below 11 of HLB systems were Ostwald ripening and coalescence. All emulsions produced with surfactants in the range of HLB 8-13, creaming caused by density difference between water phase and oil phase.
