A replication initiation gene was identified and its nucleotide sequence has been determined from a 3.8 kb, chloramphenicol acethyltransferase conferring R-plasmid pSBK203 of Staphylococcus aures. Location of the replication related region of pSBK 203 was determined by interuption with pUC 119 at XBaI and MspI sites which resulted in inactivation of replication in Bacilius subtilis. Base sequence of this region revealed on open reading frame of 942 base pairs, which encoded a 314 amino acid protein. Base sequence homology with other rep of pT181 family plasmids such as pT181, pC221, pC223, pS194, pU112, and pCW7 was ranged from 78% to 97% and the predicted amino acid sequence homology was from 72% to 95%.

We propose in the present work how the reference glass dosimeters can be introduced, which reflects the user irradiation condition. The reference glass dosimeters are used for correcting the reader fluctuation by reading it with sample glass dosimeters at the same time. Since they can be used without annealing after irradiation for long periods, one should consider both the fading effect and the natural background dose accumulation quantitatively. We construct an empirical but practical formalism of evaluating the absorbed dose on the glass dosimeter with the fading effect and the natural background dose accumulation considered.

Art theorists support art productions by, introducing them to the public, explaining their meanings, and playing a crucial part in the development of art. These tasks seem like their opus. Because the principles of art production and the artistic languages are quite different from the ordinaries, we need 'interpreters' who can mediate us and the artists. Art works need interpretation. And the interpretation includes not only the characteristics of the given art work, but the customs, history, and the unique qualities of the race that produced the art work. The former director of the Korean National Museum, Choi Soon-woo wrote on the characteristics of Korean art as those that stem from the poised, arbitrary, and non-elaborate state of mind. The statement of the former Director of the National Museum has its weight far greater than just a personal opinion. In fact, we encounter the same resonance of this statement over and over reproduced in the mass media. The problem lies on that it deals with not only a single art work, but the entire Korean art. And going further, this kind of remarks are already infused into every sector of our thought on art appreciation. In this paper, I argue for a re-reading of the characteristics of Korean beauty based on two reasons. First, the characteristic of art work is contemporary, thus we cannot define the characteristics of entire Korean art in a few words without the context of the period of its making. Second, Director Choi defined the characteristics that I pointed out above as 'natural' and 'nature-friendly.' Nature or being natural is not an usual word that defines the characteristics of art work, which stands for the opposite side of the nature in the binary opposition of nature/culture. To delve into these misunderstandings of Korean beauty in the popular notions of Korean art, I suggest the re-reading of three major articles on Korean art: Ryoo Jong-yeol's "Korean race and its art," Ko You-seup's reiteration of Ryoo's thesis called "Discourses in Korean Art History and Aesthetics," and Yoon Hee-soon's antithesis of Ryoo Jong-yeol titiled "Studies on Korean Art History."

Suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH)를 통해 상처에 의해 발현이 유도되는 cDNA들을 분리하였고, 그 중 하나인 gmwi33은 $\beta$-amyrin synthase 유전자들과 높은 유사성을 보였다. gmwi33의 전장 cDNA인 GmAMS1은 2416 bp 길이에 739개 아미노산으로 구성된 긴 open reading frame(ORF)를 포함하고 있었다. GmAMS1 단백질은 감초의 $\beta$-amyrin synthase인 GgbAS와 89%, 완두의 OSCPSY와 86%의 유사성을 보였다. 암조건 하에 5일간 기른 콩나물에서, GmAMS1는 빛을 쪼여주었을 때 가장 강하게 발현되었고 methyl jasmonate 처리와 저온처리 시에도 발현이 유도된 반면, UV-B나 elicitor를 처리하였을 때는 발현이 유도되지 않았다. 이러한 GmAMS1의 발현양상은 사포닌의 활성산소 제거기능과 밀접한 연관이 있을 것으로 추측된다.

Reading and foreseeing fashion trends is crucial and difficult in the fashion industry due to accelerated and diversified changes in fashion trends. We use network analysis to investigate fashion trends from 2004 to 2013 in order to find the inter-relevance among fashion trends. We extracted words from fashion trend info for women's wear provided by Samsung Design Net, created a 2-mode network of seasons and trend languages, and visualized this network using NodeXl program. Fashion trends repeated a unique pattern during the period. In the first half (2004-2008), retro modern, feminine modern, and ecological modern were dominant trends in consecutive order. The years 2009-2013 witnessed distinctive fashion trends in S/S seasons and in F/W seasons. 11F/W, 12F/W and 13F/W seasons were characterized by artistic creative style. From 2010, natural style dominated S/S seasons. 10S/S and 12S/S seasons were distinguished as a calm natural style that reflected a peaceful and simple life. In 11S/S and 13S/S seasons, soft natural style emerged as a sign of increased importance of inner spirit and natural energy. A seasonal reappearance of trends was observed every two years in S/S seasons that enabled the prediction that 14S/S will see another version of natural style. A macroscopic trend for the last 10 years was represented by the keywords 'modern' and 'natural'. 'Modern' involved the past styles such as 60's, Baroque and the origin of human life. 'Natural' was connected with design elements such as material, silhouette and color. Managerial implications and future study directions are discussed based on the results.

대학수학능력시험 국어 과목에서 중요한 비중을 차지하는 독서 영역의 주된 교육 목표는 주어진 지문을 온전히 이해할 수 있는가를 평가하는 데에 있다. 따라서 해당 지문에 포함된 질의를 주어진 지문만으로 풀이할 수 있는지는 해당 영역의 교육 목표와 관련이 깊다. 본 연구에서는 처음으로, 교육학 분야와 딥러닝을 접목하여 이러한 교육 목표가 실제로도 타당하게 실현 가능한지를 입증하고자 한다. 대학수학능력시험의 독서 영역의 개별지문과 그에 수반된 다수의 문장 쌍(sentence pair)을 정제하여 추출하고, 해당 문장 쌍을 주어진 지문에 비추어 적절하거나(T), 적절하지 않은지(F)를 판단하는 이진 분류 태스크(binary classification task)에 적용하여 평가하고자 한다. 그 결과, F1 스코어 기준 59.2%의 human performance를 뛰어넘는 성능을 62.49%의 KoELECTRA를 비롯한 대부분의 언어 모델에서 확인할 수 있었으며, 또한 데이터 전처리 과정에 변화를 줌으로써 언어 모델의 구조적 한계를 극복할 수 있었다.

An experimental multimodal system combining natural input modes such as speech, lip movement, and gaze is proposed in this paper. It benefits from novel human-compute. interaction (HCI) modalities and from multimodal integration for tackling the problem of the HCI bottleneck. This system allows the user to select menu items on the screen by employing speech recognition, lip reading, and gaze tracking components in parallel. Face tracking is a supplementary component to gaze tracking and lip movement analysis. These key components are reviewed and preliminary results are shown with multimodal integration and user testing on the prototype system. It is noteworthy that the system equipped with gaze tracking and lip reading is very effective in noisy environment, where the speech recognition rate is low, moreover, not stable. Our long term interest is to build a user interface embedded in a commercial car navigation system (CNS).

The purpose of this study is to examine how the floor heating system is affecting to users in childeren's libraries. This study included the method that extracts the affordance of the floor heating system, after surveyed using behavior in children's libraries and referred to J. J. Gibson's affordance and surface concepts. As the positive affordance, it was grasped that the floor heating system promotes social relationships and affords various surfaces for library using, but also as the negative affordance, that hinders users in the public usings and the behaviors for reference and using. The behaviors of these various characters can be regarded as life behaviors resulted from the sitting life style and the natural using behavior can give to children emotional rest and autonomous reading experience. For the function as the children's library, the learning of sociality in the public building and the various reading space, the space planning of children's library should be done after the positive and negative affordances extracted from this study are reflected. The guidelines for space planning are summarized as the followings: the layout of book furniture, the shoe chest and the space around that, the furniture hight and children's eye level, and the practical using of the table for sitting life style.

Both in terms of frequency and importance, sympathy is one of the most central themes that Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1818) delves into. While not a few critics have written on the subject, one crucially important aspect has been overlooked in the previous discussions of sympathy in Frankenstein: Shelley's critical intervention in the term's long lasting association with the notion of one body from a single origin. Focusing on the novel's central theme of sympathy, my paper addresses this oversight in the existing Frankenstein scholarship. I argue that Shelley's main agenda regarding sympathy in the novel is to problematize the logic of self-reproduction implicit in the notion of sympathy as an essentially familial tie. The reading of the novel as a warning against human violation of nature has been prevalent both in academia and popular culture. Nonetheless, in terms of sympathy, this paper offers an alternative reading in which the novel questions, not valorizes, the naturalization of nature. Far from valorizing the inviolable sacredness of nature, I argue, Frankenstein is a literary project attempting to disassociate sympathy from the natural bond that one is born into, and instead, re-associate it with fellowship as a second-nature to be continuously reinvented and reeducated.

The ecdysteroid UDP-glucosyltransferase (egt) gene isolated from Bombyx mori nuclear polyhedrosis virus (BmNPV) K1 strain was compared to its homologue from Autographa californica NPV (AcNPV) and Bm NPV T3. The egt gene of BmNPV-K1 encoded 506 amino acid open reading frame, and was 99.6% identical at the amino acid level and 99.2% identical at the nucleotide level to BmNPV T3. The BmNPV-K1 egt gene showed highly identity to AcNPV and BmNPV T3 strain. The BmNPV-K1 egt gene was different from amino acid sequence at 2 positions, 19 and 72, in BmNPV T3. The genomic location of egt gene in the BmNPV-K1 was confirmed by Southern blot analysis and its expression patterns at the transcriptional level in the infected cells were confirmed by Northern hybridization analysis. Transcripts of the egt of Bm NPV-K1 peaked around 12 hrs postinfection (p.i.) and reduced at 24 hrs p.i.
