  • The forced vibration with the symmetric boundary condition in nonlinear structure is studied by utilizing the characteristic of the free vibration which have two modes with the similar natural frequency. Two linear modes exist to have no concern with the amplitude. It is found that the normal mode or elliptic orbit as the newly coupled modes is generated in accordance with changing the stability. It is also known that responses for forced vibration having the small external force and damping are near mode of free vibration and the stability for each response is determined according to the stability for each response is determined according to the stability in mode of free vibration. Finally the stability and bifurcation are analyzed in proportion to increment of external force and damping.

  • This paper concerned with the vibration of double walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as continuum model based on Timoshenko-beam theory. The vibration solution obtained from Timoshenko-beam theory provides a better presentation of vibration structure of carbon nanotubes. The natural frequencies of double-walled CNTs against half axial wave mode are investigated. The frequency decreases on decreasing the half axial wave mode. The shape of frequency arcs is different for various lengths. It is observed that model has produced lowest results for C-F and highest for C-C. A large parametric study is performed to see the effect of half axial wave mode on frequencies of CNTs. This numerically vibration solution delivers a benchmark results for other techniques. The comparison of present model is exhibited with previous studies and good agreement is found.

  • In order to investigate the vibration characteristics of fluid-structure interaction problem, we modeled two identical rectangular plates coupled with fluid. A commercial computer code, ANSYS was used to perform finite element analysis and FEM solutions were compared with the experimental results to verify the finite element model. As a result, comparison of FEM and experiment showed good agreement, and the transverse vibration modes, in-phase and out-of-Phase, were observed alternately in the fluid-coupled system. The effect of fluid gap size on the fluid-coupled natural frequency were investigated. It was shown that the mode numbers increased, the normalized natural frequencies monotonically increased. And it was also found that an increase of the fluid gap reduced the coupled natural frequencies for the in-phase modes but increased the coupled natural frequencies for the out-of phase modes, and eventually converged to the results of an infinite fluid gap.

  • This paper investigates the vibration characteristics of steam generator (SG) U-tubes with defect. The operating SG shell-side flow field conditions for determining the fluidelastic instability parameters such as added mass are obtained from three-dimensional SG flow calculation. Modal analyses are performed for the U-tubes either with axial or circumferential flaw with different sizes. Special emphases are on the effects of flaw orientation and size on the modal and instability characteristics of tubes, which are expressed in terms of the natural frequency, corresponding mode shape and stability ratio. Also, addressed is the effect of the internal pressure on the vibration characteristics of the tube.

  • The vibration analysis of an axially moving membrane are investigated when the membrane has the two sets of in-plane boundary conditions, which are free and fixed constraints in the lateral direction. Since the in-plane stiffness is much higher than the out-of-plane stiffness, it is assumed during deriving the equations of motion that the in-plane motion is in a steady state. Under this assumption. the equation of out-of\ulcornerplane motion is derived, which is a linear partial differential equation influenced by the in-plane stress distributions. After discretizing the equation by using the Galerkin method, the natural frequencies and mode shapes are computed. In particular, we put a focus on analyzing the effects of the in-plane boundary conditions on the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the moving membrane.

  • The vibration of a mask degrades the color purity in CRT Therefore, a damping wire is put into contact with the mask to reduce the vibration in perfectly flat CRT. In this study, we analyzed the vibration of the mask contacting with the damping wire using FEM. First we calculated the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the mask by modal analysis, and compared them with the measured results to confirm our finite element model. The modal analysis of the wire was also performed to investigate resonance with the mask. Finally, the transient dynamic analysis of the mask contacting with the wire was performed. The vibration of the mask was measured to confirm our analysis, and the results are in good agreement with the analysis.

  • The vibration characteristics of fully and partially embedded piles with flexibly supported end carrying an eccentric tip mass are investigated. The pile model is based on the Bernoulli-Euler theory and the soil is idealized as a Winkler model for mathematical simplicity. The governing differential equations for the free vibrations of such members are solved numerically using the corresponding boundary conditions. The lowest three natural frequencies and corresponding mode shapes are calculated over a wide range of non-dimensional system parameters: the rotational spring parameter, the relative stiffness, the embedded ratio, the mass ratio, the dimensionless mass moment of inertia, and the tip mass eccentricity.

  • The purpose of this paper is that investigates the dynamic behavior characteristic of W.T.S(Wind Turbine System) and carries out the evaluation analysis during operating W.T.S. To investigate the dynamic behavior characteristic of W.T.S. the experiments to measure vibration of the blade from the attached accelerometer on the flap and edge section of the blade that is one of the most important elements of dynamic characteristic of W.T.S are performed. Natural frequency and mode shape are calculated with commercial program (STAR MODAL) using the measured vibration acceleration that receives the signal with F.F.T Analyzer from the accelerometer. For validation of these experiments. the finite element analysis is performed with commercial F.E.M Program (ANSYS) on the basis of the natural frequency and mode shape. The results indicate that experimental values have good agreements with the finite element analysis.

  • Active control of forced vibration response of a fixed-fixed beam implementing PZT sensor/actuator was conducted. Among various control scheme, PPF control was chosen due to its amenability and natural robustness. For a single frequency excitation, the PPF control provided reasonable controllability with the appropriate damping ratio of the compensator. Without increasing actuator voltage, best controllability can be obtained by the exact tuning between the natural frequency of the structure and the cut-off frequency of the compensator. Even the multi-frequency excitation, the PPF provided good vibration suppression for corresponding mode of interest, even though residual modes should be controlled with independent compensators for each mode.
