  • In this study, by using the control technique of the user using augmented reality technology, to provide a game system touch-based. The augmented reality technology, can be advantageously used vehicle is easily recognized as a technique for synthesizing (images, video, text) object of the virtual image of the real world. Augmented reality technology has been studied to make the application in various fields. Studies of natural marker-based marker and base are underway, but there is no sense of incongruity in reality research natural marker-based and has been studied much. By using the augmented reality technology natural marker-based In this paper, we implemented a game system. The system also has the advantage that can be absorbed in the game by using the techniques of the interaction through a user's touch. Touch interface-based, are available as well as user environments, even in mobile devices such as smart-phone and touch pad.

  • In this paper, we propose an object control system on table top display to support augmented reality in which objects in real-world control computer-generated data. We developed LED-based object control system over table top display so that it is capable of controlling networked table top display. The LED-based object control system supports more natural interactive interface. In this paper, infrared LED is used to implement the object control device to be recognised by table top display. We applied LED-based object control system in air hockey game where a team has a point if their puck goes to opponent's net on a table. Since users can control objects in cyber world with the proposed object control device, it is realized augmented reality.

  • Recently, systems providing the interaction different according to an interval between a user and the display were developed in order to construct the ambient or the ubiquitous computing environment. Therefore, we propose a new type of spatial interaction system; our main goal is to provide the interactive domain in the large-scale ambient display environment. So, we divide into two zones of interaction dependent on the distance from the interaction surface interactive zone and ambient zone. In interactive zone, the users can approach the interaction surface and interact with natural hand-touch. When the users are outside the range of the interactive zone, the display shows only general information. Therefore, this system offers the various interactions and information to users in the ubiquitous ambient environment.

  • Synthesizing speech and facial images is necessary for human interface that man and machine converse naturally as human do. The target of this paper is synthesizing the facial images. In synthesis of the facial images a three-dimensional (3-D) shape model of the face is used for realizating the facial expression variations and the lip shape variations. The various facial expressions and lip shapes harmonized with the syllables are synthesized by deforming the three-dimensional model on the basis of the facial muscular actions. Combications with the consonants and the vowels make 14.364 syllables. The vowels dominate most lip shapes but the consonants do a part of them. For determining the lip shapes, this paper investigates all the syllables and classifies the lip shapes pattern according to the vowels and the consonants. As the results, the lip shapes are classified into 8 patterns for the vowels and 2patterns for the consonants. In advance, the paper determines the synthesis rules for the classified lip shape patterns. This method permits us to obtain the natural facial image with the various facial expressions and lip shape patterns.

  • To improve and optimize user interfaces of the system, the accurate understanding of users' behavior is an essential prerequisite. Direct questions depend on user' s ambiguous memory and usability tests depend on the researchers' intention instead of users'. Furthermore, they do not provide with natural context of use. In this paper we described the work which examined users' behavior through log analysis in their own environment. 50 users were recruited by consumer segmentation and they were downloaded logging-software in their mobile phone. After two weeks, logged data were gathered and analyzed. The complementary methods such as a user diary and an interview were conducted. The result of the analysis showed the frequency of menu and key access, used time, data storage and several usage patterns. Also, it was found that users could be segmented into new groups by their usage patterns. The improvement of the mobile phone user interface was proposed based on the result of this study.

  • An analytical model was developed in this study and then implemented into a tool for automation of FEA (Finite Element Analysis) of a spindle system for natural frequencies and modes in the universal FEA software, ANSYS. VBA of EXCEL was used for the implementation. It allowed graphic user interfaces (GUIs) to be developed for a user to interact with the tool and, in addition, an EXCEL spreadsheet to be used for data arrangement. A code was developed in the language of ANSYS to generate the geometric model of the spindle system, sequentially to construct the analytical model based on the information in the GUIs, and finally to perform computation for the FEA. Its automation of the model generation and analysis can help to identify a near optimal design of the spindle system under design in minimum time and efforts.

  • Electromyogram (EMG) is the bioelectric signal induced by motor nerves. Analyzing EMG with the movement produced by muscle contraction, we can provide input commands to a computer as a man-machine interface as well as can evaluate the patient's motional abnormality. In this paper, we developed an integrated miniaturized device which acquires and transmits the surface EMG of an interested muscle. Developed system measures $60{\times}40{\times}25mm$, weighs 100g. Using an amplifier circuitry on the electrodes and the radio frequency transmission, the developed system dispenses with the use of cables among the electrodes, amplifier, and the post processing system (personal computer). The wiring used in conventional systems can be obstacle for natural motion and source of motion artifacts. In results, the developed system improves not only the signal-to-noise ration in dynamic EMG measurement, but also the user convenience. We propose a new human-computer interface as well as a dynamic EMG measurement system as a possible application of the developed system.

  • In current video-conferencing systems. user's face movements are restricted by fixed camera, therefore it is inconvenient to users. To solve this problem, tracking of face movements is needed. Tracking using whole face needs much computing time and whole face is difficult to define as an one feature. Thus, using several feature points in face is more desirable to track face movements efficiently. This paper addresses an effective eye location algorithm which is essential process of automatic human face tracking system for natural video-conferencing. The location of eye is very important information for face tracking, as eye has most clear and simplest attribute in face. The proposed algorithm is applied to candidate face regions from the face region extraction. It is not sensitive to lighting conditions and has no restriction on face size and face with glasses. The proposed algorithm shows very encouraging results from experiments on video-conferencing environments.

  • Graphic User Interface has been playing a great role in giving people easy access of computer. The research of implementing graphic image on the computer display and inventing mouse were the threshold of GUI's birth in 1960s, and those were succeeded to developing the first GUI based-computer at the Xerox research center in 1970s. An education theory for the children and the visual metaphor of real life environment were adapted to implement GUI. They were continuously studied and tested in the beginning of creating the GUI concept and design method. In 1980s, the GUI concept and design method were generally applied to all personal computer development. Apple and Microsoft have led the commercialization of their GUI based-05, and also got their own positions in the market as GUI standards in 1990s. The first research for the GUI based-computer implementation in Xerox has established very clear concept and design methods. This GUI standards are evolving Into more convenient and natural ways in various computing environment and developing technologies these days.

  • In order to design and develop a ubiquitous game, it is necessary to develop a natural and flexible interface between the real world and the virtual world, based on social and physical context awareness. We design user interface model and the tactile sensing system that performs virtual interaction and collection of the sensor data. It is sensitive so the collected data should be filtered, rearranged and analyzed. This information is quite different from stylus input, keyboard, button or mouse for interaction. We detect kicked 3D force position of a ball, moment of area, moment of inertia and modified ball shape using tactile sensing system and analyzed data. The results demonstrate that the proposed approach is desirable and robust as well as the results can be used realistic actions and reactions considering attack force and to make interesting environments for ubiquitous game.
