  • A multi-point touch input sensor having different sizes or different capacitance touch points connected by only one pair of signal transmission lines was fabricated using a polyimide film coated with a thin copper plate. The capacitance increases with the decrease in the number of sheets of fabric spacers placed between the two sheets of the polyimide film. Therefore, the touch input sensor could be manufactured without fabric spacers, which was possible by the action of the polyimide film as a dielectric material in the capacitor. On the multi-point touch sensor, higher capacitance was obtained when pressing wider-area touch points with 10mm to 25mm diameter on average. However, the capacitance of a system comprising two sheets of touch sensors was considerably low, causing a serious overlap of the capacitance values according to the data collected from the reliability test. Although the capacitance values could be increased by stacking several sheets of touch sensors, the overlap of data was still observed. After reducing the size of all touch points to 10mm and stacking up to eight sheets of sensors, reliable and consistent capacitance data was obtained. Five different capacitance signals could be induced in the sensors by pushing touch points simultaneously.

  • Previous studies on pipe auto-routing algorithms generally used such algorithms as A*, Dijkstra, Genetic Algorithm, Particle Swarm Optimization, and Ant Colony Optimization, to satisfy the relevant constraints of its own field and improve the output quality. On the other hand, this study aimed to significantly improve path-finding speed by applying the Jump Point Search (JPS) algorithm, which requires lower search cost than the abovementioned algorithms, for pipe routing. The existing JPS, however, is limited to two-dimensional spaces and can only find the shortest path. Thus, it requires several improvements to be applied to pipe routing. Pipe routing is performed in a three-dimensional space, and the path of piping must be parallel to the axis to minimize its interference with other facilities. In addition, the number of elbows must be reduced to the maximum from an economic perspective, and preferred spaces in the path must also be included. The existing JPS was improved for the pipe routing problem such that it can consider the above-mentioned problem. The fast path-finding speed of the proposed algorithm was verified by comparing it with the conventional A* algorithm in terms of resolution.

  • The element reduction of a multiset S is to reduce the number of repetitions of an element in S by a predetermined number. Privacy-preserving element reduction of a multiset is an important tool in private computation over multisets. It can be used by itself or by combination with other private set operations. Recently, an efficient privacy-preserving element reduction method was proposed by Kissner and Song [7]. In this paper, we point out a mathematical flaw in their polynomial representation that is used for the element reduction protocol and provide its correction. Also we modify their over-threshold set-operation protocol, using an element reduction with the corrected representation, which is used to output the elements that appear over the predetermined threshold number of times in the multiset resulting from other privacy-preserving set operations.

  • In the present study, a total of 547 half milk samples were collected from 274 dairy goats to perform somatic cell counts (SCC) and California mastitis test (CMT). Milk smear was stained with Pyronin Y-Methyl Green stain were classified into either epithelial or blood cells, etc. Of the 547 halves the percentage of CMT negative milk samples were 86%. Among these, 58.2% were CMT negative with SCC<500,000/ml, while 27.8% were CMT negative with SCC>500,000 ml. As expected, CMT score increased with the increase of SCC. The number of epithelial cells decreased with the increasing number of somatic cells, while the opposite was observed with the number of blood cells. These results indicate that the critical point in milk quality & CMT should be considered on the false (pseudo-SC) SCC in dairy goat.

  • Opening of trade relationships through an increasing number of international free trade agreements and the now defunct General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade has resulted in an increase the number of the species being exchanged in the world. In the last 20 years, international environmental laws have multiplied and a number of treaties address harmful non-indigenous species (NIS) directly with specific provisions, while other treaties deal with related environmental issues and indirectly affect international regulation of NIS; however, such treaties are weak due to lack of enforceability. From the stand point of national law, many countries including the USA, Australia and New Zealand enforce national laws and regulations to protect biological resources. Typical strategies include : 1) strengthening quarantines to prevent unintentional and illegal introduction of harmful NIS, and 2) developing technologies for managing harmful NIS. However, the recent international trend for managing NIS has shifted. In 2002, the Bonn Guidelines on Access to Genetic Resources and Fair and Equitable Sharing of the Benefit Arising out of their Utilization was adopted at the 6th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biodiversity. One major issue highlighted in the document is that "there is no more free of charge to get a biological resource from other countries". The Bonn guidelines will affect international and national NIS regulatory systems because the NIS is a potentially disrupts ecosystems as well as native species. A number of impacts are expected including the revamping of national biodiversity policy regimes in many countries in the world. In particular, the ROK, which is not very biologically diverse, has to evolve national laws to protect valuable ecosystems from NIS. In the meanwhile, national rights of using beneficial indigenous and non-indigenous species as biological resources should be considered through the investigation and national registration of NIS around the world for the promotion of the biotech industry.

  • This paper suggests more simple algorithm than Hungarian algorithm for assignment problem. Hungarian algorithm selects minimum cost of row and column, and subtracts minimum cost from each cost. Then, performs until the number of minimum lines with 0 equals the number of rows. But, the proposed algorithm selects the minimum cost for each rows only. From the start point with over 2 to the target point with null selects in column, fixes the maximum opportunity cost that the difference of the cost of starting point and target point, and moves the cost less than opportunity cost th more than previous cost. For the 25 balance and 7 unbalance assignment problems, This algorithm gets the optimal solution same as Hungarian algorithm. This algorithm improves the time complexity $O(n^3)$ of Hungarian algorithm to $O(n^2)$, and do not performs the transformation process from unbalance to balance assignment in Hungarian algorithm. Therefore, this algorithm can be alter Hungarian algorithm in assignment problem.

  • In E-mail based accounting system, the remitter does not have need to find collector's account number. To transfer money to a collector's account, what remitter need is just a collector's E-mail address. But the current E-mail based accounting systems are built on SSL technology. Basically SSL provides some security services - confidentiality, user authentication and data integrity, but does not provide non-repudiation. So, in the current E-mail based accounting system, it is possible to deny transaction. And there is no receipt of transaction. In this paper, we design and implementation of a S/MIME applied Secure Payment Mechanism. In our system, every account information - account number, receiver name, amount of money, etc. - is included in a 'check' message. And this message is protected under the Secure Web-mail using S/MIME. In a view point of the convenience, users using our system do not have need to find collector's account number. And in a view point of the security, our system provides confidentiality, user authentication, data integrity and non-repudiation. Moreover our system provides a receipt.

  • Purpose: To evaluate the accuracy of the Iterative Metal Artifact Reduction (IMAR) algorithm in correcting CT (computed tomography) images distorted due to a metal artifact and to evaluate the usefulness when proton therapy plan was plan using the images on which IMAR algorithm was applied. Materials and Methods: We used a CT simulator to capture the images when metal was not inserted in the CIRS model 062 Phantom and when metal was inserted in it and Artifact occurred. We compared the differences in the CT numbers from the images without metal, with a metal artifact, and with IMAR algorithm by setting ROI 1 and ROI 2 at the same position in the phantom. In addition, CT numbers of the tissue equivalents located near the metal were compared. For the evaluation of Rando Phantom, CT was taken by inserting a titanium rod into the spinal region of the Rando phantom modelling a patient who underwent spinal implant surgery. In addition, the same proton therapy plan was established for each image, and the differences in Range at three sites were compared. Results: In the evaluation of CIRS Phantom, the CT numbers were -6.5 HU at ROI 1 and -10.5 HU at ROI 2 in the absence of metal. In the presence of metal, Fe, Ti, and W were -148.1, -45.1 and -151.7 HU at ROI 1, respectively, and when the IMAR algorithm was applied, it increased to -0.9, -2.0, -1.9 HU. In the presence of metal, they were 171.8, 63.9 and 177.0 HU at ROI 2 and after the application of IMAR algorithm they decreased to 10.0 6,7 and 8.1 HU. The CT numbers of the tissue equivalents were corrected close to the original CT numbers except those in the lung located farthest. In the evaluation of the Rando Phantom, the mean CT numbers were 9.9, -202.8, and 35.1 HU at ROI 1, and 9.0, 107.1, and 29 HU at ROI 2 in the absence, presence of metal, and in the application of IMAR algorithm. The difference between the absence of metal and the range of proton beam in the therapy was reduced on the average by 0.26 cm at point 1, 0.20 cm at point 2, and 0.12 cm at point 3 when the IMAR algorithm was applied. Conclusion: By applying the IMAR algorithm, the CT numbers were corrected close to the original ones obtained in the absence of metal. In the beam profile of the proton therapy, the difference in Range after applying the IMAR algorithm was reduced by 0.01 to 3.6 mm. There were slight differences as compared to the images absence of metal but it was thought that the application of the IMAR algorithm could result in less error compared with the conventional therapy.

  • Purpose: A sampling scheme may significantly affect the accuracy of a sensor. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of sampling point locations on optical reflectance measurements of Chinese cabbage and kale plant leaves. Methods: Variability and similarity of multiple measurements for different parts of the leaves were compared. Results: The results indicate that the variability between the average and individual reflectance spectra was smaller for the blade part than for the vein part. Furthermore, the reflectance for the blade part over the upper leaf area was greater and more stable than those for the other parts for both the cabbage and kale leaf samples. Conclusions: The results provide guidelines for optical reflectance measurements of Chinese cabbage and kale plants. The effects of the number of sampling points, the number of leaves, and the relationships between optical reflectance and leaf components remain to be investigated in the future.

  • Twelve black seabreams (Acanthopagrus schlegeli) were tagged with acoustic transmitters and their movement and behavior patterns were tracked using acoustic telemetry from 12 December 2006 to 15 August 2007. Seven of the 12 fish stayed within 500 m of the release point for over a month. In the spring tide, the number of detected signals and swimming depth of tagged fish changed at 12-hour intervals with the ebb tide. The number of detected signals of tagged fish decreased dramatically with the passage of time and had decreased by over 80% in May 2007, compared with January 2007.
