  • In the multimedia era and contemporary art, the expression of narrative is expanding in various ways based on formal theory. And the expression form is maximized according to the use of each medium. In terms of understanding artworks, an approach that combines various expressions and media using these narratives is also possible. Therefore, this study analyzed the works of the artists by selecting three artists, Sadic Guissi Alfrazi, Lindsay Sears, and Kara Walker, who fused the media using narrative structures. Through this, it was intended to present the artistic value and significance of the work and the possibility of expanding the narrative expression of contemporary art in the future. As a result of the analysis of previous artists' works, it was shown that the phase of convergence can be derived by using the medium of narrative concepts beyond the dichotomy of content and form, confirming that digital technology and media development are changing the form of art. In addition, it was confirmed that the use of narrative structure facilitates media conversion. It is expected that discussions on the new paradigm of contemporary art will progress in the future.

The self- narrative writing subject with a learning of recognization, expression, and communication with oneself, emphasizes the necessity when they become college students through entrance exam-oriented education. The research methods are as follows. Firstly, three university textbooks which include a section on self-narrative writing were compared and analyzed. The analysis highlights the needs for a textbook covering self-narrative writing more extensively and comprehensively as what is offered by the existing textbooks is limited in facilitating students to fully develop the ability of self-reflection, which should be dealt as a long-term goal. Secondly, the current discussion on self-narrative writing and examples of real classroom practice were analyzed. It shows that a step-by-step approach is required to encourage the practice of deep self-reflection to be incorporated into writing. In addition, during the writing process, various correction and feedback activities should be carried out on a macro level and gradually while the communication and feedback should take place not only between a teacher and students, but also among students. As a result, it is expected that this study will help establish a teaching model of self-narrative writing by seeking complementary points and educational directions for self-narrative writing.

  • Fashion pictorials are recognized as another form of communication method beyond the concept of simply providing information or being artistic photography. Therefore, it is believed that there is necessity to know methods of making a strong impression on people's conscience by effective usage of various presentation techniques that can be used in fashion pictorials. This research studied characteristics of closed form and open form of Wolfflin's precept of forms presented in scene construction. Depaysement technique was classified into three classes which are alien transportation of a part, deformation and ambivalence of an image through literature review of depaysement presentation technique. After studying the concept and characteristics of narrative applicable as the open form, Annie Leibovitz's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" published in an actual fashion magazine was analyzed as an empirical study based on the theoretical research. Through this study, potential of applying depaysement technique as a presentation technique of closed form and narrative as a presentation technique of open form on fashion pictorials was identified. Factors that infuse creativity and achieve uniformity in producing fashion pictorials were shown through analysis of actual fashion pictorials.

  • The development and expansion of American style mass media in 1938 created contemporary narratives comparable with the Greek narrative in the past, and one of the leaders is comic book 'Superman.' Although American hegemonism or expansionism was rejected by autonomous independent countries including the Third World nations, the heroic narratives transcending the diverse races and peoples in the U.S. were supported by mass cultures and media and had huge impacts on heroic narratives and various media in many other countries. In particular, 'Superman' occupies an epochal position in the history of comic books as it reinterpreted a universal and contemporary heroic narrative model into a Greek hero and a Christian hero and suggested it visually.
