Alkali Metal Ion Sensing in Aqueous Media by a Dibenzo-16-crown-5 Chromoionophore

  • A new chromoionophore sym-(decyl)(2-hydroxy-5-nitrobenzyloxy)-dibenzo-16-crown-5 (1) has been synthesized for $Na^+$ photometry in aqueous media. Apparent $pK_a$ values of 1 in the presence of 0.10 M LiCl, NaCl, and KCl were measured by spectrophotometry in 50% 1,4-dioxane-50% water (v/v) and compared with the $pK_a$ of 8.68 in the presence of 0.10 M TMACl. A significant $pK_a$ shift to a lower pH was only observed for $Na^+$ (${\Delta}pH=1.31$) due to selective binding of 1 with $Na^+$. Based upon this $pK_a$ shift, chromoionophore 1 was found to selectively respond to $Na^+$ with a detection limit of $10^{-3}M$ and no interference from $K^+$ up to 0.05 M for detection of 10.0 mM $Na^+$ in 50% 1,4-dioxane-50% water (v/v).

Effects of Salt Flux and Alloying Elements on the Coalescence Behaviour of Aluminum Droplets (알루미늄 Droplets 합체거동에 미치는 Salt Flux 및 합금원소 첨가의 영향)

  • The remelting for recycling or thin aluminum scrap, such as aluminum chip generally involves melting of these pieces submerged in molten salt flux. In this study, the effects of salt flux compositions and alloying elements on the aluminum dropletscoalescence and oxide film removal were studied in 99.8%Al, Al-1.01%Cu, Al-1.03%Si, and Al-1.38%Mg alloys as a function of holding time at $740^{\circ}C$ Salt fluxes based on NaCl-KCl(1:1) with addition of 5wt.% fluorides(NaF, $Na_3AlF_6$, $CaF_2$) or 5 wt.% chloride($MgCl_2$, $AlCl_3$) were used. The experimental results show that NaCl-KCl(1:1) with addition of 5 wt.% fluorides exhibits better coalescence ability than that with chlorides. The oxide film is not removed by NaCl-KCl(1:1) with addition of 5 wt.%chlorides, while it is removed by NaCl-KCl(1:1) with addition of 5 wt.% fluorides. The aluminum droplets coalescence and oxide film removal by salt fluxes are related to interfacial tension tension between metal and salt flux.

  • Recently, as the process of the MOS device becomes more detailed, and the degree of integration thereof increases, many problems such as leakage current due to an increase in electron tunneling due to the thickness of SiO2 used as a gate oxide have occurred. In order to overcome the limitation of SiO2, many studies have been conducted on HfO2 that has a thermodynamic stability with silicon during processing, has a higher dielectric constant than SiO2, and has an appropriate band gap. In this study, HfO2, which is attracting attention in various fields, was doped with Al and the change in properties according to its concentration was studied. Al-doped HfO2 thin film was deposited using Plasma Enhanced Atomic Layer Deposition (PEALD), and the structural and electrical characteristics of the fabricated MIM device were evaluated. The results of this study are expected to make an essential cornerstone in the future field of next-generation semiconductor device materials.

  • This study was to build a collaborative digital library model between KSTI and JST for sharing science and technology information created in Korea and Japan. For this study, digital library framework, it's main concepts and widely-used digital library technologies were investigated. And also, best practices of collaborative digital library were surveyed to characterize collaborative digital library trends. Collaborative Sci-Tech digital library model proposed in this study can be applied in real environment and expanded into other institutions and/or subject areas.

A Study on Optimum design of Corrugated web girder using Eurocode (유로코드를 이용한 주름웨브보의 최적설계 연구)

  • This paper describes the structural design and optimization of sinusoidally corrugated web girder by using EUROCODE (EN 1993-1-5). The optimum design methodology and characteristics of the optimal cross-section are discussed. We investigate a shear buckling and the concerned standards for corrugated web and explain the equations to obtain a critical stress according to buckling type. In order to perform optimization, we consider an objective function as minimum weight of the girder and use the constraint functions as slenderness ratio and stresses of flanges as well as corrugated web and deflection. Genetic Algorithm is adopted to search a global optimum solution for this mathematical model. For numerical example, the clamped girder under the concentrated load is considered, while the optimum cross-sectional area and design variables are analyzed. From the results of the adopted example, the optimum design program of the sinusoidally corrugated web girder is able to find the suitable solution which satisfied a condition subject to constraint functions. The optimum design shows the tendency to decrease the cross-sectional area with the yielding strength increase and increase the areas with load increase. Moreover, the corrugated web thickness shows a stable increase concerning the load.

Heat and Flow Characteristics During Melting Process of a PCM Inside a Liquid Flexitank for Cargo Containers (화물 컨테이너용 액상 백 내부 PCM의 용융 과정에 대한 열유동 특성 해석)

  • This study examined the natural convection heat flow characteristics of the melting process of PCM (palm oil) inside a liquid flexitank(bag) for a cargo container. A film heating element was installed on the bottom of the container, and numerical analysis was performed under heat flux conditions of 1,000 to 4,000 W/m2. As a result, the melt interface of the PCM rises to a nearly horizontal state over time. In the initial stage, conduction heat transfer dominates, but gradually waves at the cell flow and melt interfaces are formed due to natural convection heat transfer. As melting progresses, the Ra number increases parabolically, and the Nu number increases linearly and has a constant value. The Nu number rises slowly under low heat flux conditions, whereas under high heat flux conditions, the Nu number rises rapidly. As the heat flux increases, the internal temperature oscillation of the liquid phase after melting increases. However, under high heat flux conditions, excess heat exceeding the latent heat is generated, and the temperature of the molten liquid is raised, so the increase in melting rate decreases. Therefore, the appropriate heating element specification applied to a 20-ton palm oil container is 2,000 W/m2.

  • In this paper. an indirect adaptive controller for manipulator which is composed of two controller structure is considered. One is feedforward controller in which the dynamics equation solved and the other is feedback controller in which the output error compensated. This controller has a good performance, but the computation burden of the feed forward controller keep from real time control. At this point, we proposed the two time adaptive controller where the sampling time of the feedforward controller is quite longer than that of the feedback controller. By the computer simulation, this proposed two time adaptive controller shows good performance in the view of accuracy in spite of decreasing computational burden.

  • 본 논문은 천해에서의 전구 음원 특성 연구를 수행하였다. 일반적으로 전구 음원의 특성은 수심에 따라 달라지며, 크기와 같은 물리적인 요인에 의해서도 달라지는 것으로 알려져 있다. 최근 전구 음원의 저주파 광대역 음원로써의 사용 가능성에 관한 연구가 수행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 해상 실험 자료 분석을 통해 전구 음원 특성을 분석하였으며, 연구 결과 전구 음원이 천해에서 저주파 광대역 음원으로써 사용 가능함을 확인하였다.

  • P-type의 단결정, 다결정, UMG 기판을 이용하여 phosphorus툴 확산시킨 후 열처리한 external gettering 방식으로 실리콘 내부에 있는 불순물을 제거하였고, 기판의 lifetime 변화를 $\mu$-PCD를 이용하여 측정하였다. phosphorus를 $850^{\circ}C$에서 기판 내부로 20분 확산시킨 후 기판의 온도와 시간을 변화시키면서 gettering 공정을 시행하였다. 에미터층으로 인해 기판의 bulk lifetime이 부정확해 지는 것을 방지하기 위해서 NaOH를 이용하여 에미터층을 제거한 후 $\mu$-PCD를 이용하여 lifetime을 측정하였다. 또한 기판의 표면효과를 최소화하기 위해서 lifetime 측정전에 iodine을 이용하여 표면 passivation을 하였다.

  • Glass infiltration 방법을 이용하여 '$A_2O_3$/Glass/$Al_2O_3$' 구조의 무수축 LTCC 기판을 제조하였다. Glass infiltration 법에 의한 무수축 기판 제조에 있어 가장 중요한 요소로는 Glass의 점성은 낮고, alumina에 대한 Glass의 젖음성 (wettability)이 좋으며. 낮은 반응성이 요구되기 때문에 Glass의 조성 선정이 무엇보다 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 Na, Pb, Mg 계열의 각기 다른 glass들의 alumina에 대한 젖음성을 평가하여 젖음성 및 치밀성이 우수한 Pb 계열의 Glass를 이용하여 LTCC 기판으로 적용 가능한 온도인 $700{\sim}900^{\circ}C$에서 '$A_2O_3$/Glass/$Al_2O_3$'구조의 glass infiltration 특성을 고찰하였다. 소성 후 수축율은 x-y축 0.2%, Z축 40%, 밑도 $3.8g/cm^3$, 유전율 6.8, 품질계수 552로 무수축 기판으로서의 적용 가능성을 확인하였다.
