정렬되지 않은 3차원 거리 데이터로부터의 NURBS 곡면 모델 생성 기법 (On Constructing NURBS Surface Model from Scattered and Unorganized 3-D Range Data)

  • 본 논문에서는 NURBS (Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines) 곡면 근사에 기반하여 거리 데이터로부터 3차원 곡면 모델을 생성하는 기법을 제안한다 입력으로 이용되는 거리 데이터는 연결 정보가 알려지지 않고 정렬되지 않은 일반적인 3차원 점들의 집합으로 가정한다 제안하는 알고리듬은 초기 모델 추정, 계층적 모델 표현, NURBS 곡면 네트워크 생성의 3단계로 나뉘어진다 초기 모델 추정 단계에서는 K-평균 군집화 기법을 이용하여 다각형면과 삼각형으로 표현되는 근사 모델을 생성하고, 계층적 트리 구조를 이용하여 초기 모델을 표현한다. 계층적 트리 구조로 부터 생성된 사각형면 모델에 의하여 $G^1$ 연속인 NURBS 곡면 네트워크를 효율적으로 생성한다. 제안하는 알고리듬은 초기 모델의 계층적 그래프 해석을 통하여 곡면 네트워크 형성에 필요한 계산량을 감소시켰으며, 또한 정확한 NURBS 제어점 추정을 통하여 근사 오차를 감소시킨다. 모의 실험 결과 거리 데이터로 부터 초기 모델과 다양한 해상도의 NURBS 곡면 네트워크가 효과적으로 생성되었으며 생성된 NURBS 곡면 모델의 근사 오치는 무시할 수 있는 수준임이 관찰되었다.

미소직선 공구경로의 NURBS 변환 (NURBS Post-processing of Linear Tool Path)

  • NURBS (Non Uniform Rational B-Spline) is widely used in CAD system and NC data for high speed machining. Conventional CAM system changes NURBS surface to tessellated meshes or Z-map model, and produces linear tool path. The linear tool path is not good for precise machining and high speed machining. In this paper, an algorithm to change linear tool path to NURBS one was studied, and the machining result of NURBS tool path was compared with that of linear tool path. The N-post, post-processing and virtual machining software was developed. The N-Post post-processes linear tool path to NURBS tool path and quickly shades machined product on OpenGL view and compares a machined product with original CAD surface. A virtual machined model of original tool path and post-processed tool path was compared to original CAD model. The machining error of post-processed NURBS tool path was reduced to 43%. The original tool path and NURBS tool path was used to machine general model using same machine tool and machining condition. The machining time of post-processed NURBS tool path was reduced up to 38%.

  • This study concerns an advanced NURBS surface reconstruction method, which is based on the NURBS surface model fitting to the unstructured point cloud measured from an arbitrary complex shape. The concept of generating a simple triangular mesh model was introduced to generate a quadrilateral mesh model well-representing the topological characteristics of point cloud. The NURBS surface reconstruction processes required the use of the various methodologies such as QEM algorithm, merging scheme of pair-wise triangular mesh, creation algorithm of $G^1$ continuous tensor product NURBS surface patch, and so on. The effectiveness and reliability of the proposed NURBS surface reconstruction method were validated through the simulation results for the geometrically and topologically complex shapes.

  • In CNC machining, demands on precision machining of free formed surface model are increasing. Most of the CAD/CAM systems provide the NURBS(Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline) interpolator. NURBS is defined with NURBS parameter by control point, weight value and knot value. This paper shows the realtime NURBS interpolation algorithms and compared with each other. One is based on the equal length of curve segments rather than equal increment of the parameter Δu. The other is to limit the interpolation error to any desired level by adjusting the feedrate considering the curvature of the shape and sampling time.

  • This paper proposes a generalized NURBS model, called Volumetric NURBS or VNURBS for representing volumetric objects with multiple attributes embedded in multidimensional space. This model provides a mathematical framework for modeling complex structure of heterogeneous objects and analyzing inside of objects to discover features that are directly inaccessible, for deeper understanding of complex field configurations. The defining procedure of VNURBS, which explains two directional extensions of NURBS, shows VNURBS is a generalized volume function not depending on the domain and its range dimensionality. And the recursive a1gorithm for VNURBS derivatives is described as a computational basis for efficient and robust volume modeling. In addition, the specialized versions of VNURBS demonstrate that VNURBS is applicable to various applications such as geometric modeling, volume rendering, and physical field modeling.

파라메트릭 기법을 고속 단동선의 NURBS 모델링 (Construction of NURBS Model for Preliminary High-Speed Monohull Design Based on Parametric Approach)

  • An approach to model a high-speed monohull vessel is introduced. The high-speed monohull form belonging to the category of multihull is drawing new attention, due to the rapidly growing trend of fast passenger ships and military purpose. Multihull forms are much thinner in their overall shape, compared to those of the conventional commercial vessels. Moreover, the parent hull forms are not readily obtainable when a new design is intended, which makes it hard to perform various technical calculations in terms of hull optimization, hydrodynamic computation, structural design, and so forth. In this paper, a parametric technique is used to design a high-speed hull form. To model a hull form, NURBS (Non Uniform Rational B-Spline) representation is used. The goal of research is to provide a fast and convenient tool to design an initial hull form with fewer parameters available in the early design stage. The technique employed in this paper will be applied to the design of multihull forms, such as catamaran, trimaran, and semi-swath.

  • An automatic mesh generation system with unstructured quadrilateral elements on trimmed NURBS surfaces has been developed.. In this paper, NURBS surface geometries in the IGES format have been used to represent model shape. NURBS surface is represented as parametric surface. So each surface could be mapped to a 2D parametric plane through the parametric domain. And then meshes with quadrilateral elements are constructed in this plane. Finally, the constructed meshes are mapped back to the original 3D surface through the parametric domain. In this paper, projection plane, quasi-expanded plane and parametric Plane are used as 2D mesh generation plane. For mapping 3D surface to parametric domain, Newton-Rhapson Method is employed. For unstructured mesh generation with quadrilateral elements on 2D plane, a domain decomposition algorithm using loop operators has been employed. Sample meshes are represented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • Algorithms on modification of NURBS surface requires modeling history to change its boundary conditions. The history is stored when the surface is modeled and saved in the corresponding model file. But when the model is transferred to other systems the history generally cannot be recognized. So modification algorithms without history is highly required. Previous works on the field is concentrated in the point based modification without any restriction condition. Therefore this study is intended to develope a curved based modification algorithm with restriction conditions. A rapid modification algorithm is suggested, implemented and tested.

표면거칠기를 고려한 NURBS 곡선보간기 (NURBS Curve Interpolator for Controlling the Surface Roughness)

  • Finish machining of a curved surface is often carried out by an NC system with curve interpolation in the field. This NURBS interpolation adopts a feedrate optimizing strategy based on both the geometrical information and dynamic properties. In case of a finish cut using a ball-end mill, the curve interpolator needs to take the machining process into account for more improved surface, while reducing the polishing time. In this study, the effect of low machinability at the bottom of a tool on surface roughness is also considered. A particular curve interpolation algorithm is proposed fur generating feedrate commands which are able to control the roughness of a curved surface. The simulation of the machined surface by the proposed algorithm was carried out, and experimental results are presented.
