Handover Performance of LTE-R Networks (LTE-R 네트워크에서 핸드오버 성능)

  • LTE-R(Long Term Evolution - Railway), as a mobile communication technology to support safety operation of train on high speed railway system, have to be equipped appropriately by hand-over method for high moving environment of train. In this paper, hand-over performance of LTE-R network, which is used in railway communication system, is analyzed and hand-over implementation condition is suggested with this analysis. The performance analysis of this study is carried out with computer simulation with NS(Network Simulator)-3. SINR(Signal to Interference and Noise Ratio) and RSRP(Reference Signal Received Power), and Data Rate is used for hand-over performance parameter.

  • In the IEEE 802.1 Ib, DCF provides contention based services and PCF provides contention free services for QoS suppof. DCF uses CSMA/CA (Carrier Sense Multiple Access/collision Avoidance) as an access protocol. In this paper, an enhanced PCF, which gives weights to channels with heavy traffic load, was proposed. The weight is depending on the partial queue length information from STAs. NS-2 simulation results show that the proposed scheme is an promising approach for enhancing the PCF.

  • In this paper, we propose an effective routing protocol that can be particularly applied to SDDC (Sangmyung Direct Digital Controller) BAS. We have used NS (Network Simulator)-2 to simulate the real building for SDDC BAS. The static, session, DV (Distance Vector), and LS (Link State) algorithms are used and the protocols for performance comparison and evaluation are compared with respect to end to end delay, throughput, and routing overhead. The simulation results show that the DV algorithm is effective for SDDC BAS.

  • 철도에 있어서 주행중인 열차와 지상간의 열차무선통신네트워크는 종래의 음성통화를 주축으로 하는 열차무선의 기능에 더하여, 차량상태 정보나 동영상 정보의 차량-지상간 양방향 전송을 비롯하여, 무선통신기반 열차제어시스템(CBTC : Communication Based Train Control System) 등에 확대 응용되면서 그 중요성은 점점 더 증가하고 있는 추세에 있다. 이에 따라, 향후 시스템의 발전에 따라 통화 채널의 증가, 데이터 통신 등을 가능하게 하는 새로운 시스템의 구축이 필요할 것으로 기대된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 철도 연선에 있어서의 열차와 지상 무선통신기지 간의 효과적인 핸드오프기법에 대하여 검토를 수행하였다.

  • Differentiated Service is an IP QoS ensuring method based on packet marking that allows packets to be prioritized according to user requirements. During the time of congestion, more low priority packets are dropped than high priority packets. Different policy models are used to determine how to mark the packet. This paper investigated the performance of Differentiated Service using time sliding window with 3 color marking (TSW3CM). Simulation results using NS-2 showed that Differentiated Service can provide the quality of service requirements.

  • In this paper, the numerical results concerning different orbits of a 3D axisymmetric non-rotating galactic potential are presented. We use $Paczy{\acute{n}}ski^{\prime}s$ gravitational potential with different birth velocity distributions for the isolated old Neutron Star (NS) population. We note some smooth non-constant segments corresponding to regular orbits as well as the characterization of their chaoticity. This is strongly related to the effect of different kick velocities due to supernovae mass-loss and natal kicks to the newly-formed NS. We further confirm that the dynamical motion of the isolated old NSs in the gravitational field becomes obvious, with some significant diffraction in the symmetry of their orbital characteristics.

  • This paper presents a fast IP mobility management scheme in vehicular networks where multiple wireless network interfaces are used to perform the fast handover without packet loss and handover latency. In order to do that, the IETF standard HMIPv6 has been extended, where multiple simultaneous tunnels between the HMIPv6 MAP and the mobile gateway are dynamically constructed. The architecture for supporting multiple tunnels has been designed and both mathematical analysis and simulation using NS-2 have been done for performance evaluation.

  • In centralized control sensor network, tree-based multi-channel communication overcomes the recurrent channel switching and makes possible to transfer data simultaneously from different sources. In our paper, we propose a greedy algorithm named as NIT (Non-Intersecting Tree) that the trees can avoid inter-tree interference. We also propose channel switching technique by which trees can avoid link failure or area blocking due to external interference locally without rerunningthe algorithm and without interrupting the whole network. At first we applied our algorithm for a random topology and then we evaluate the performance of the network using NS-2 simulator. The results show that with the increasing of channel the throughputand delivery ratio are increased significantly. We got better performance than a using a recent proposed Tree-based Multi-Channel Protocol (TMCP).

  • SIP is a flexible and extensible call setup protocol that may be combined with other protocols used in the Internet to make various services like voice communication. Voice communication can be classified into normal calls used for communication between common users and emergency calls for 112, 119 and other services through public safety networks. It is required to research to process effectively these normal calls and emergency calls through public networks such as the Internet. In this paper, we propose a bypass scheme for emergency calls by giving priority to INVITE messages for them and processing them with priority in the SIP proxy queue. We perform simulation studies using the network simulator ns-2 for the performance evaluation. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme processes emergency calls faster than normal calls and thus it is expected to make a special purpose network like the national disaster network efficiently by using the existing Internet.

  • A new phase frequency detector based digital phase-locked loop (PLL) of 125 MHz was designed using the 130 nm CMOS technology library consisting of inverting edge detectors along with a typical digital phase-locked loop to reduce the lock time and jitter for mid-frequency applications. XOR based inverting edge detectors were used to obtain a transition earlier than the reference signal to change the output more quickly. The HSPICE simulator was used in a Cadence environment for simulation. The performance of the digital phase-locked loops with the proposed phase frequency detector was compared with that of conventional phase frequency detector. The PLL with the proposed detector took $0.304{\mu}s$ to lock with a maximum jitter of approximately 0.1142 ns, whereas the conventional PLL took a minimum of $2.144{\mu}s$ to lock with a maximum jitter of approximately 0.1245 ns.
