  • Aim: Recent research suggests that nucleophosmin (NPM) may be a prognostic marker in colorectal carcinomas (CRC). We here tested its use to predict the survival of CRC patients. Methods: We investigated NPM expression by immunohistochemistry in histologically normal to malignant colorectal tissues and evaluated its association with clinicopathological variables. Overall and disease-free survival after tumor removal were calculated by the Kaplan-Meier method, and differences in survival curves were analyzed by the log-rank test. The Cox proportional hazards model was used for multivariate analysis of prognostic factors. Results: NPM expression was found significantly upregulated in CRC compared to adjacent colorectal tissue, villous adenoma, tubular adenoma and normal colorectal mucosa (p<0.05 for all). NPM expression was statistically linked to cancer embolus, lymph node metastasis, differentiation grade, and recurrence of CRC. Overall and disease-free survival of NPM-negative CRC patients tended to be better than those for patients with NPM-positive lesions (log-rank statistic, p<0.05 for all). Multivariate analysis indicated NPM expression as an independent prognostic indicator for CRC patients (p<0.05 ). Conclusion: Our results suggest that NPM expression can predict the survival of CRC patients. Prognosis of CRC is determined by not only many known prognostic factors but also by NPM expression.

  • Nucleophosmin (NPM1) is a protein of highly conserved nature which works as a molecular chaperone and is mostly found in nucleoli. NPM also involved in the maturation of preribosomes and duplication of centrosomes. Furthermore, it is also active in control and regulation of the ARF-p53 tumor suppressor pathway. A high rate of incidence and prognostic involvement is reported by various authors in AML patients. In AML it behaves as a favorable prognostic marker. NPM mutations are more frequently associated with normal-karyotype AML and are usually absent in patients having abnormal or poor cytogenetic. NPM mutations are not frequent in other hematopoietic tumors. Two main types of mutations have been described to date. Both of these cause abnormal cytoplasmic localization of NPM1. Their high incidence rate in normal karyoptype and their favorable nature m ake those mutations hot spot or front face mutations which should be checked before treatment starts.

  • IDH1/2 mutations which result in alternation in DNA methylation pattern are one of the most common methylation associated mutations in Acute myeloid leukaemia. IDH1/2 mutations frequently associated with higher platelet level, normal cytogentics and NPM1 mutations. Here we analyzed IDH1/2 mutations in 200 newly diagnosed unselected Indian adult AML patients and investigated their correlation with clinical, cytogenetic parameters along with cooperating NPM1 mutation. We detected 5.5% and 4% mutations in IDH1/2 genes, respectively. Except IDH2 c.515_516GG>AA mutation, all the other identified mutations were reported mutations. Similar to reported c.515G>A mutation, the novel c.515_516GG>AA mutation replaces $172^{nd}$ arginine to lysine in the active site of the enzyme. Even though there was a preponderance of IDH1/2 mutations in NK-AML, cytogenetically abnormal patients also harboured IDH1/2 mutations. IDH1 mutations showed significant higher platelet count and NPM1 mutations. IDH2 mutated patients displayed infrequent NPM1 mutations and lower WBC count. All the NPM1 mutations in the IDH1/2 mutated cases showed type A mutation. The present data suggest that IDH1/2 mutations are associated with normal cytogenetics and type A NPM1 mutations in adult Indian AML patients.

  • Improving the physico-chemical properties of used media by mixing ratio of new plug media (NPM), used plug media (UPM) and perlite is necessary to improve seedling quality. In this study, five treatments were designed to investigate mixing ratio of UPM and NPM by ratio of volume 0 : 100, 25 : 75, 50 : 50, 75 : 25, 100 : 0, respectively. On the other hand, nine treatments were designed to investigate of perlite volumes were added to UPM and mixed media (UPM : NPM (50 : 50)) with 0, 5, 10, and 20% of ratio volume. The physicochemical properties of all mediums and their effect on growth response of tomato and cucumber seedlings were determined. The result indicates that physical properties was improved when NPM was mixed with UPM and at mixed ratio of volume 50 : 50 (v : v) has similar pore spare, bulk density and water retention to NPM. Seedling quality of tomato and cucumber in mixed media (50 : 50) are better than other mixed ratio and similar to NPM. Addition perlite to UPM and mixed media 50 : 50 (v : v) increased the pore space and water retention. Physical properties such as particle density, pore space and bulk density were increased when perlite volume increased. However, the best of seedling quality was observed by the addition at 10% volume of perlite. These results suggested that optimum of mixed ratio for recycled used media is new media and used media 1 : 1 mixed.

  • A public management paradigm matters for public enterprises as it has a direct impact on their business management and the performance evaluation on public institutions by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. This research reviews key theories about public management that has attracted attention since the 1980s: New Public Management (NPM), New Public Governance (NPG), and New Public Service (NPS). These paradigms represent their unique features in terms of efficiency, networks, and public service, and have their own merits and shortcomings. This research asserts that more integrated and multi-dimensional approaches to the public management theories are needed to effectively cope with rapidly changing environments for public enterprises.

  • This study examined the effect of Debt Equity Ratio (DER), Net Profit Margin (NPM), and Size on stock prices with company performance as measured by Return on Assets (ROA) as a mediating variable. The sample used is 136 manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in the 2014-2018 period. This research was tested using a Warp PLS statistical test tool to prove the proposed hypothesis. The results showed that DER has a significant negative effect on ROA and a significant positive effect on Stock Price. NPM has a significant positive effect on ROA as well as a significant positive effect on Stock Price. While Size has a significant positive effect on ROA but has no effect on Stock Price. ROA has a significant positive effect on Stock Price. ROA does not act as a mediating variable in the relationship between Size and Stock Price; however, ROA acts as a mediating variable in the DER and Stock Price relationship, as well as, in the relationship between NPM and Stock Price. The implications of the results of this study can be used by investors in making investment decisions, paying attention to the company's financial aspects, namely DER, NPM, Size, and ROA.

  • To investigate in influence of photosensitizer used with benzophenone(BP) in the curing rate and physical properties of UV curable hard coating on plastic, we prepared UV curable clear and pigmented coatings with DEA, DMA, NPM and TEA as photosensitizer, respectively. The curing rate calculated from the decrease of the absorbance of acrylic double bond measured by FT-IR spectroscopy increased s follows; DEA>DMA>NPM>TEA. this order could be explained by the reactivity of diethylamino group of DEA and the ease of formation of activated complex between BP and photosensitizer during the curing process. In UV curable pigmented coatings, the order of curing rate increased as follows; DEA>DMA>TEA>NPM. It was found that the curing rate of the pigmented coating can be increased by light scattering of TiO$_2$. The hardness of coating film cured by photosensitization of DEA and DMA is higher than other photosensitizers due to the crosslinking reaction of DEA and DMA radical bound to polymer backbone.

  • The objective of the present study is to identify the physico-chemical characteristics of used plug media (UPM) and its effect on growth response of tomato and cucumber seedlings. The UPM from commercial media Mix#5 (Sungro co., Ltd.) was used in this study. This media was sterilized by sterilizer at $120^{\circ}C$ in 30 minutes at 1.5 atm. Physicochemical properties of UPM was compared with new plug media (NPM). Physical properties such as air volume, particle density, solid volume, bulk density were investigated by three phase device (DIK-1130, Japan). And chemical characteristics such as $NO_3$-N, $P_2O_5$, K, Mg, Ca, $SiO_2$, CEC, OM were investigated by soil spectrophotometer (PTIZEN 1412SA, Mecasys Co., Ltd). The result indicates that air volume and water holding capacity of UPM are lower than NPM (25%, 15%, respectively). Bulk density and soil weight are more than two times higher than NPM per unit volume. Compared to NPM, there were no significant different for pH and EC. But CEC of UPM is lower than NPM 40%. In order to compare growth response and ability absorption of inorganic elements by plants, cucumber and tomato seedlings were used and chemical characteristics after growing of mediums were determined. The result indicated that seeding quality of tomato and cucumber in UPM is less than in NPM and almost inorganic ions of UPM are lower than NPM. So it is necessary to improve physicochemical properties of UPM.

  • Stimulated polariton scattering (SPS) from the $A_1$ transverse optical (TO) modes of $BaTiO_3$ bulk crystal generating a terahertz (THz) wave with the noncollinear phase-matching (NPM) condition is theoretically investigated. To our best knowledge, this is the first report on THz wave generation from $BaTiO_3$ bulk crystal via SPS. Phase-matching (PM) characteristics in the NPM configuration are analyzed. Effective parametric gain lengths for the Stokes and THz waves in the NPM configuration are calculated. The effective parametric gain coefficient and absorption coefficient of the THz wave in $BaTiO_3$ are theoretically simulated. The THz phonon flux densities generated via SPS in $BaTiO_3$ are theoretically calculated by solving the coupled wave equations under the NPM condition. The PM characteristics and THz-wave parametric gain characteristics in $BaTiO_3$ are compared to those in $MgO:LiNbO_3$. The results of the analysis indicate that $BaTiO_3$ is an attractive optical crystal for efficient THz wave generation via SPS.

  • Recently, the increasing trend for the transshipment traffic of Busan port in Korea is slowing down because of the extensive development plan of domestic ports in china. For solving this problem, Korea is going on the project for preoccupying the transshipment port for attraction of port traffic from the newly potential markets(NPM) based on the Northeast Asia area. As a part of the project, this paper proposes the efficient methodology for selecting the optimal shipping network and strategic transshipment port within NPM using the mathematical models and simulation analysis. For that, we firstly find the alternative transshipment ports within NPM through the status analysis of the current port traffic and shipping network and then, we choose the candidate transshipment-ports in order of minimizing the transport costs through the mathematical approach. With the scenarios based on the selected transshipment-ports, we perform the simulation analysis for choosing the optimal transshipment-ports and the shipping network minimizing the total costs and times concurrently. We expect that the results of this paper will be used efficiently when korea select the strategic transshipment-port in the future.
