Cross-Cultural Adaptation of Korean Language Versions on Neck Pain and Disability Questionnaires and Their Psychometric Testing (한글 경추 통증 및 기능장애 측정 도구의 개발과 타당도 및 신뢰도 검사)

  • Objectives : It was to translate three neck and spinal pain disability questionnaires - the Neck Disability Index (NDI), the Neck Pain and Disability Scale (NPDS), and the Functional Rating Index (FRI) - into Korean language, and evaluate the psychometric properties of Korean versions of questionnaires to achieve a good cross-cultural adaptation. Methods : Forty (23 males, 17 females) subjects aged from 15 to 64 years old, participated to examine test-retest reliability. One hundred and eighty (76 males, 104 females) subjects with a primary diagnosis of non-specific neck pain and 81 healthy volunteers were undertaken to examine internal consistemcy, discriminative validity and longitudinal construct validity. Versions of each questionnaire in idiomatic modern Korean were developed using a procedure proposed by Beaton et al. (2000). To assess reliability, the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC $_{(2,1)}$) was calculated. Internal consistency was evaluated by Cronbach's alpha. Discriminative validity was examined with independent-group t-tests. Responsiveness was tested by calculating the effect size and standardized response mean for each questionnaire and using Pearson' s r and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. Results : Test-retest reliability ofthe translated versions of the three disability questionnaires was excellent (ICC $_{(2,1)$ = 0.86-0.90). High internal consistency was found in the three disability questionnaires (Cronbach's alpha ranged from ${\alpha}=0.88$ for the FRI to ${\alpha}=0.96$ for the NPDS and 0.82 for the Short Form McGill Pain Questionnaire(SFMPQ)). the VAS subscale of the SFMPQ was found to be the most responsive of the subscales (ES=1.44, SRM=1.37). The VAS was also the most responsive pain and disability index in internal responsiveness analysis, although disability indices showed marginally better responsiveness when compared with external standards. No floor or ceiling effects were observed. Conclusions : It is concluded that the questionnaires were successfully translated and exhibit acceptable measurement properties, and may suggest that they are suitable for use in clinical and research application.

Alignment Algorithm for Nano-scale Three-dimensional Printing System (나노스케일 3 차원 프린팅 시스템을 위한 정렬 알고리즘)

  • Hybrid manufacturing technology has been advanced to overcome limitations due to traditional fabrication methods. To fabricate a micro/nano-scale structure, various manufacturing technologies such as lithography and etching were attempted. Since these manufacturing processes are limited by their materials, temperature and features, it is necessary to develop a new three-dimensional (3D) printing method. A novel nano-scale 3D printing system was developed consisting of the Nano-Particle Deposition System (NPDS) and the Focused Ion Beam (FIB) to overcome these limitations. By repeating deposition and machining processes, it was possible to fabricate micro/nano-scale 3D structures with various metals and ceramics. Since each process works in different chambers, a transfer process is required. In this research, nanoscale 3D printing system was briefly explained and an alignment algorithm for nano-scale 3D printing system was developed. Implementing the algorithm leads to an accepted error margin of 0.5% by compensating error in rotational, horizontal, and vertical axes.

Comparative Analysis of Pain Disorder Factors and Subjective Pain Reduction Effect after Functional Adjustment Procedure Therapy for Shoulder Pain Patients (직장인 어깨 통증 환자의 기능교정 치료 후 통증 장애 요인과 자각적 통증 감소 효과 비교분석)

  • PURPOSE: This study examines the therapeutic effect of functional adjustment procedure therapy (FAPT), by comparatively analyzing behavioral disorders due to shoulder pain and subjective pain intensity subsequent to therapy, in patients with shoulder pain. METHODS: The intervention was performed on 48 employee patients with shoulder pain, Patients were administered 16 sessions of FAPT for 8 weeks, twice a week for 30 minutes per session. This study applied the neck pain and disability scale (NPDS) as a measurement tool, and used the questionnaire to measure subjective pain intensity to investigate the difference before and after administering FAPT to employee patients with shoulder pain. RESULTS: Statistically significant difference was obtained between the mean difference in shoulder pain disorder, before and after FAPT. Assessing gender and age differences in the reduction effect of shoulder pain, showed significant difference in 8 of the 10 factors examined. Finally, examining the difference in the effect of reducing subjective shoulder pain by gender and age, we observed that gender-based disability reduction was significant for all 12 factors examined. CONCLUSION: Taken together, the results of this study, validate the therapeutic efficacy of FAPT for patients with shoulder pain. We believe that this data will provide basic information to understand the health conditions and psychological variables of patients with shoulder pain.

Deep RIE를 이용하여 제작된 마이크로 노즐 내에서 유체의 거동에 대한 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션 분석

  • 다이렉트 프린팅 방식에 대한 수요가 높아지면서 마이크로 노즐에 대한 수요도 높아지고 있다. 마이크로 노즐은 Nano particle deposition system (NPDS)에서 가장 중요한 부분으로 금속이나 세라믹 분말을 음속으로 가속시키는 역할을 한다. 또한 마이크로 노즐은 마이크로 스페이스 셔틀과 주사바늘이 없는 약물 주사 시스템 등의 많은 분야에서 사용 가능하다. 이러한 마이크로 노즐은 대부분 기계적 절삭법을 이용하여 알루미늄으로 만들어져왔다. 하지만 알루미늄으로 만들어진 마이크로 노즐은 경도가 낮아 세라믹 나노 입자를 적층하는 것에 적절치 못하며 사용가능한 수명이 짧다는 단점을 가지고 있다. 또한 가장 큰 단점으로 노즐목을 1mm이하로 제작하는 것이 어렵다는 것이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 Si wafer를 Deep RIE 방식을 이용하여 3차원적으로 제작하였다. Deep RIE 방식 중 BOSCH process를 이용하였다. 이렇게 만들어진 마이크로 노즐은 다이렉트 프린팅 방식중 하나인 NPDS에 적용하였다. Si wafer로 만들어진 마이크로 노즐이 적용된 NPDS를 이용하여 graphite 분말을 가속하여 적층 실험을 실시하였다 이와 함께 전산 유체 역학(CFD)를 이용하여 마이크로 노즐일 이용한 초음속 가속 가능 여부를 판단하였다. 전산 유체 역학은 유한 요소법을 이용하여 유체의 거동을 시뮬레이션을 통하여 예측하는 것으로 마이크로 노즐 내에서 유체의 흐름을 예상할 수 있다. 실제 실험의 결과와 전산 유체 역학을 이용한 시뮬레이션 결과dml 비교 분석을 실시하였다.

Estimation of Poisoning Cases by Use of Chemicals and Chemical Products in South Korea (물질과 제품 사용에 의한 국내 중독(poisoning) 건수 추정)

  • Objective: South Korea still lacks systematic national poisoning data collection or a poison control center (PC). The objectives of this study are to provide estimates of poisoning incidents in South Korea and to stress the necessity of a national poisoning surveillance framework managed by a national PC. Method: The number of poisoning incidents was estimated based on the 2018 annual report of the American Association of Poison Control Centers' National Poison Data System (NPDS). Our estimation of poisoning data was classified according to age group, reason for poison exposure, and case management site. Results: Total poisoning cases estimated numbered 326,636, which is tantamount to 631 cases per 100 thousand. Poisoning cases among those younger than five years old accounted for 71.7% in the United States. Fatal poisoning cases were estimated to be 210.63 (95% CI: 199.70-222.15). Non-intentional poisoning cases (250,378 cases, 95% CI: 249,992-250,764, 76.7%) were estimated to be far higher than intentional cases (62,399 cases, 95% CI: 62,207-62,593, 19.1%). Conclusion: Our results can be used to suggest the necessity of producing national poisoning data and establishing a PC despite the uncertainty of estimation.
