재생연료의 MILD연소기술 (MILD Combustion Technology for Recycled Fuel)

  • Optimum operation conditions of low-NOx MILD combustion for gaseous and solid fuels have been investigated by experimental and computer simulation. Loop reactor type MILD combustor without air pre-heater has been used in the present work. The results show that the balance of injection velocities of fuel and surrounding air is major factor for maintaining MILD combustion mode. Temperature difference between lower and upper part can be reduced less than 20 degree of Celsius. It was found that NOx emission in MILD combustion also can be remarkably reduced to more than 85% in comparison with conventional premixed combustion, and reduced to more than 50% in case of nitrogen and carbon dioxide carrying dried waste water sludge and pulverized coal in comparison with the same of air carrying. It was also found that carbon monoxide emission increase was not appeared at the time of changeover to MILD combustion mode from premixed or air carrying combustion at optimum operation condition.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate and compare the impact of engine load on the emission characteristics of excavator engines, with the aim of improving the method for calculating the emission inventory of construction machinery. The engine load in excavators is directly correlated with the operational workload, and variations in the load factor (LF) can significantly influence the emission inventory. Thus, on-board diagnostic (OBD) data from an excavator at a construction site were systematically collected to measure engine output and emissions. The results revealed discernible differences in emissions based on engine load, even when the average excavator engine performance remained constant. This highlights the significant influence of the type and characteristics of the work being carried out on emission characteristics. Making realistic adjustments to the LF used in emission calculation formulas emerges as a crucial strategy for environmental improvement. Moreover, the analysis of the effects of engine load on emissions from excavators provides valuable insights for enhancing environmental protection measures.

소형자동차 배출계수 산출용 차대동력계 시험모드의 개발 (Development of Chassis Dynamometer Test Modes to Derive the Emission Factors for Light Duty Vehicles)

  • For the correct estimation of air pollutant emission from automobiles which is the largest contributor of metropolitan area air pollution, the total pollutant emission from automobiles should be estimated accurately. Nationwide emissions from automobiles, such as CO, HC and NOx, are calculated by using emission factor and total VMT(vehicle miles traveled). The emission factors were derived from the emissions data on chassis dynamometer with test modes which represent the real driving patterns. In the present study, test modes to derive the emission factors for light duty vehicles are developed by using the real driving pattern data for the urban, suburban and express way.

  • 적극적인 환경보호를 위해 그동안 상대적으로 소홀하였던 오프로드 엔진에 대한 배기가스 배출 규제가 강화되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 NOx와 PM 배출물 특성을 고려하여 오프로드 디젤 엔진의 강건 설계를 수행하였다. 이를 위하여 실험계획법에 따라 배출물 NOx와 PM의 측정 실험을 수행하고 다구찌 기법으로 망소 SN 비를 산출하고 분산 분석을 수행하였다. NOx와 PM 배출량에 영향을 미치는 제어 인잘로 인젝터 홀 수, 연료 분사 시기, EGR 율을 선택하였으며 각 제어 인자에 대하여 2 또는 3 수준을 고려하여 직교 배열표를 작성하였고, 이에 근거하여 실험을 수행하였다. 망소 SN 비를 산출하고 델타 통계량을 계산하였다. 저부하 운전 조건에서는 분사 시기가 NOx 배출량에 가장 큰 영향을 미치며, EGR 율이 PM 배출량에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 결과를 얻었다. 제어 인자들에 대한 신뢰수준은 90% 이상이었다.

Urea 수용액의 배기가스 유동장내 분무 특성과 분무 균일도에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristic and Droplet Uniformity of Spray Injection to Exhaust Gas Flow from Urea Solution Injector)

  • Diesel engines can produce higher fuel efficiency and lower $CO_2$ emission, they are subject to ever more stringent emission regulation. However, there are two major emission concerns fo diesel engines like such as particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxides (NOx). Moreover, it is not easy to satisfy the regulations on the emission of NOx and PM, which are getting more strengthened. One of the solutions is to apply the new combustion concept using multistage injection such as HCCI and PCCI. The other solution is to apply after-treatment systems. For example, lean NOx trap catalyst, Urea-SCR and others have various advantages and disadvantages Especially, Urea-SCR system have advantages such as a high conversion efficiency and a wide operation conditions. Hence the key factor to implementation of Urea-SCR technology, good mixing of urea(Ammonia) and gas, reducing Ammonia slip. Urea mixer components are required to facilitate evaporation and mixing because the liquid state of urea poses significant barriers for evaporation, and the distance to mixer is the most critical that affect mixer performance. In this study, to find out the distance from injector to mixer and simulation factor, a laser diagnostics and high speed camera are used to analyze urea injector spray characteristics and to present a distribution of urea solution in transparent manifold In addition, Droplet Uniformity Index is calculated from the acquired images by using image processing method to clarify the distribution of spray.

  • LNG보일러는 국내에서 환경개선을 목적으로 사용이 점차적으로 증가하고 있다. LNG는 타연료 연소에 비해 아황산가스나 기타 대기오염물질을 거의 발생시키지 않지만 NOx의 경우 연소 특성상 발생될 수밖에 없다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 LNG보일러 중에서 국내 배출계수 연구가 미비한 가정용 가스보일러와 산업용 요ㆍ로에서의 NOx 배출계수를 국내 실정에 맞게 개발하고 배출되는 NOx 특성을 파악하여 정확한 대기오염 배출량 산출에 관한 기초를 마련하고자 하였다. (중략)

열병합/산업용 보일러 화로에서의 연소 해석 (Modeling of Combustion in Co-Generation / Industrial Boiler Furnace)

  • Our company produces boilers for industrial usages or power plants. The aim of this study is to investigate the flame structure, heat transfer to evaporator tube wall and NOx emission in the furnaces. Also we are to derive correct FEGT(Furnace Exit Gas Temperature) characteristic curve. When we design furnace and superheater, economizer etc. FEGT characteristic curve is very important factor for optimum design. We calculated turbulent reacting flow, heat transfer and NOx emission in furnace by using numerical modeling with the help of commercial code. Three dimensional steady state calculation is done. k-e turbulence model and equilibrium chemistry combustion model with $\beta-probability$ density function is used. To calculate radiation heat transfer discrete ordinates model is used. And we measured FEGT at several operating plants. Measurement is done by R-type thermocouple. Radiation shield is attached to the thermocouple to prevent radiation effect. Measured and calculated results show good agreement. And we could understand the flame structure and NOx formation positions in each furnaces.

천연가스를 모사하는 등가가스의 유효성 검토 (Examination of validation for equivalent gas to replace natural gas)

  • 산지마다 상이한 성분을 갖는 천연가스의 가스호환성 및 연소특성을 판정하기 위해서는 많은 시간과 비용이 소비되고 그 범위도 넓어 어려움이 있어, 천연가스를 모사하는 등가가스를 대체하여 사용하는 방법이 사용되고 있다. 등가가스는 천연가스와 발열량, 압축계수, 상대밀도, CO 배출농도 및 연소속도에 차이가 거의 없다고 알려져 있지만, 실제 가스기기에 대한 화염형상, NOx 배출농도 및 효율에 대한 연구는 아직 보고되고 있지 않다. 본 연구에서는 천연가스를 모사하는 등가가스를 대상으로 기존에 보고된 CO 배출농도, 연소속도 및 화염온도 등을 재확인하고, 화염형상, NOx 배출농도 및 효율에 대해서 수치해석 및 실험을 통해 비교 검토함으로써 등가가스의 유효성을 검토하였다. 그 결과 천연가스와 등가가스의 차이는 미세하였으며, 등가가스를 이용하여 천연가스의 연소특성 및 호환성 범위를 검토하는데 문제가 없을 것으로 판단되었다.

  • The results of stand and field testing of a combustion chamber for a heavy-duty 150 MW gas turbine are discussed. The model represented one of 14 identical segments of a tubular multican combustor constructed in the scale 1:1. The model experiments were executed at a pressure smaller than in the real gas turbine. The combustion efficiency, pressure loss factor, pattern factor, liner wall temperature, flame radiation, fluctuating pressure, and NOx emission were measured at partial and full load for both model and on-site testing. The comparison of these items of information, received on similar modes in the stand and field tests, has allowed the development of a method of calculation and the improvement of gas turbine combustors.

  • Of those off-road diesel engines, the railroad diesel rolling stocks (RDRS) for passenger and freight transportation become a growing issue since they are emitting enormous amounts of various air pollutants. Furthermore, up to the present time, emissions from these sources are not well controlled. One of main purposes in this study is to develop emission factors for the RDRS and to estimate a total amount of major air pollutants from the RDRS in Korea. Prior to develop a Korean mode emission factor, the emission factor from the USEPA was simply applied for comparative studies. As a conclusion, based on the emissions calculated from both the USEPA mode and the KoRail mode, the RDRS is considered as one of significant mobile sources of major air pollutants including NOx and CO, and thus management plans and control strategies for the RDRS must be established to improve air quality near. future in Korea.
