Three series of 36 short circular columns confined by wraps, full shells and partial shells were tested by varying the thickness of GFRP laminates. An assessment of the effectiveness of the existing models on confinement of concrete columns with FRP was made for present tests. Test results indicated significant increases in strength and deformability compared with those in unconfined concrete, particularly warp and full shell confinement. Existing predictive equations for peak strength and strain of confined concrete showed a large scatter and varied considerably, resulting from the realistic fracture strains of FRP nor considered.

The activated sludge process is a commonly used method for treating sewage and waste waters. The process is characterized by a lack of measurement instrumentations and control goals that are neither well defined nor well understood. In the present study the concept of fuzzy control is employed for such process in which a design method for fuzzy controller based on a multivariable fuzzy reasoning algorithms is investigated and then simulation results are presented.

In this paper, a nor fuzzy control algorithm for the target tracking system is proposed, and its characteristics are analyzed and compared with those of the traditional PID controller. Fuzzy rules are generated experimentally using Mamdani's minimum operation and the center of area method. The experimental results prove that the proposed fuzzy algorithm is excellent in our tracking system and its performance is superior to that of the PID controller.

Reiki is a form of energy therapy in which the therapist, with or without light touch, is believed to access universal energy sources that can strengthen the body's ability to heal itself, reduce inflammation, and relieve pain and stress. There is currently no licensing for Reiki nor, given its apparent low risk, is there likely to be. Reiki appears to be generally safe, and serious adverse effects have not been reported. So in this article provides coverage of how to use Reiki in oncology services.

It is discussed how a supplier should design a quantity discount pricing schedule for multiple buyers. It is emphasized that nor only the supplier's surplus but also each buyer's surplus resultant from quantity discount should be considered in designing price schedule. It is shown that if the supplier's quantity pricing schedule is based on his/her profit function, each buyer's surplus may be maximized. And it is also shown that when the supplier's main benefit comes from the reduced number of setups, the incremental discount schedule satisfies the requirement. Formulas to determine values of parameters of the incremental discount schedule are provided.

Lip canting is associated with facial asymmetry, and is one of the most challenging problems in surgical correction of facial deformities. The author corrected lip canting using bioabsorbable devices during orthognathic surgery. Soft tissue suspension procedures were performed on four patients with facial asymmetry. Lip lines improved for all patients. Over an observation period of five years, no complications were noted, nor did any late relapse develop. Furthermore, as time past, the effect of the Endotine suspension procedure increased probably due to induction of fibrosis on surrounding soft tissues.

Considering the prime z-filters on a topological space X through the structures of the ring C(X) of continuous functions. a prime z-filter is uniquely determined by a primary z-ideal in the ring C(X), i. e., they have a one-to-one correspondence. Any primary ideal is contained in a unique maximal ideal in C(X). Denoting $\mathfrak{F}(X)$, $\mathfrak{Q}(X)$, 𝔐(X) the prime, primary-z, maximal spectra, respectively, $\mathfrak{Q}(X)$ is neither an open nor a closed subspace of $\mathfrak{F}(X)$.

This paper proposes a new soft switching single stage AC/DC full bridge converter with unit power factor and isolated output. This circuit shows that it is possible to combine the boost converter which is for PFC(Power Factor Correction) and full bridge converter which is for DC/DC converter. A simple auxiliary circuit which includes neither lossy components nor active switches eliminates ringing of secondary side of the transformer. The characteristics of the proposed circuit are investigated and the validity is verified by the simulation results.
