When structures are constructed by welding, heat conduction brings welding deformation. This is accompanied by complicated mechanical phenomenon such as material nonlinear and geometric nonlinear behavior. Hitherto, the research of welding deformation has been accomplished by an analytical method and experimental data in Korea. In this paper, the computer program by F.E.M.(finite element method) which could analyze the deformation of thin plate considering phenomena(both material and geometric nonlinear behavior) has been developed and verified. The production mechanism and characteristics in the welding deformation of plate are studied by the results.
Membrane structures, a kind of lightweight soft structural system, are used for spatial structures. The material property of the membrane has strong axial stiffness, but little bending stiffness. Therefore membrane structures arc unstable structures initially. These soft structures need to be introduced initial stresses first because of its initial unstable state, and it happens large deformation phenomenon. To find the structural shape after large deformation caused by initial stiffness introduced, we need the shape analysis considering geometric nonlinearity in structural design procedure. In this study, we investigate into the stress concentration at crack of membrane structures. Therefore, using the nonlinear analysis program that NASS (Nonlinear Analysis for Spatial Structures) perform nonlinear analysis, and stress distribution for creak length investigate for using linear elastic fracture mechanics.

In this paper, nonlinear nonplanar vibration of a flexible rectangular cantilever beam is analyzed when one-to-one resonance occurs to the beam. The planar and nonplanar motions of the beam are analyzed in time and frequency domains. In frequency domain, FFT analyzer is used to perform autospectrum and cepstrum analyses for nonlinear response of the beam. In time domain, an oscilloscope is used to investigate the phase difference between the planar and nonplanar motions and to perform Torus analysis in the phase space. Through those analyzing process, the main frequencies of superharmonic, subharmonic, and super-subharmonic motions are investigated in the nonplanar motion due to one-to-one resonance. Analyzing the phase difference between the planar and nonplanar motions, it is observed that the phase difference varies in time.
The performance for the algorithm of the arc length method has been examined in terms of the choice of the tangential stiffness matrix through the analysis for the snap buckling phenomenon of the arch beam. The curved beam element with 2 nodes including shear effect has been formed by strain element technique and then it has been used in this nonlinear analysis. Snap-through characteristics has been examined with respect to the ratios of the arch beam length to hight.
The occurrence of ferroresonance in electrical systems including nonlinear inductors such as transformers will bring a lot of malicious damages. The intense ferromagnetic saturation of the iron core is the most influential factor in ferroresonance that makes nonsinusoidal current and voltage. So the nonlinear behavior modeling of the magnetic core is the most important challenge in the study of ferroresonance. In this paper, the ferroresonance phenomenon is investigated in a single phase transformer using the finite element method and considering the hysteresis loop. Jiles-Atherton (JA) inverse vector model is used for modeling the hysteresis loop, which provides the accurate nonlinear model of the transformer core. The steady-state analysis of ferroresonance is done while considering different capacitors in series with the no-load transformer. The accurate results from copper losses and iron losses are extracted as the most important specifications of transformers. The validity of the simulation results is confirmed by the corresponding experimental measurements.
In spite of significant nonlinearities even in the simplest model, some types of steady-state and dynamic behavior common for nonlinear systems have never been associated with distillation columns. In recent years, multiplicity of steady states has been a subject of much research and is now widely accepted. Subsequently, stability of steady states has been explored. Another phenomenon that. although widely observed in chemical reactors, has not been associated with models of distillation columns is the existence of periodic oscillations. In this article we study the steady-state and dynamic behavior of the azeotropic distillation of the ternary homogeneous system methanol-methyl butyrate-toluene. Our simulations reveal nonlinear behavior not reported in earlier studies. Under certain conditions, the open-loop distillation system shows a sustained oscillation associated with branching to periodic solutions. The limit cycles are accompanied by traveling waves inside the column. Significant underdamped oscillations are also observed over a wide range of product rates.

The fluid induced vibration (FIV) phenomena of an equivalent airfoil system of MAV have been investigated in low Reynolds number flow region. Unsteady flows with viscosity are computed using two-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. The present fluid/structure interaction analysis is based on one of the most accurate computational approach with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and computational structural dynamics (CSD) techniques. The highly nonlinear fluid/structure interaction phenomena due to severe flow separations have been analyzed for the low Reynolds region that has a dominancy of flow viscosity. The effects of Reynolds number and initial angle of attack on the fluid/structure coupled vibration instability are shown and the qualitative trend of FIV phenomenon is investigated.

Dynamic characteristics are investigated when a nonlinear system showing periodic and chaotic responses under harmonic excitation is exposed to random perturbation. About two well potential problem, probability of homoclinic bifurcation is estimated using stochastic generalized Meinikov process and quantitive characteristics are investigated by calculation of Lyapunov exponent. Critical excitaion is calculated by various assumptions about Gaussian Melnikov process. To verify the phenomenon graphically Fokker-Planck equation is solved numerically and the original nonlinear equation is numerically simulated. Numerical solution of Fokker-Planck equation is calculated on Poincare section and noise induced chaos is studied by solving the eigenvalue problem of discretized probability density function.
By using the nonlinear aerostatic stability theory together with the method of mean wind decomposition, a method for nonlinear aerostatic stability analysis is proposed for long-span suspension bridges under yaw wind. A corresponding program is developed considering static wind load nonlinearity and structural nonlinearity. Taking a suspension bridge with three towers and double main spans as an example, the full range aerostatic instability is analyzed under wind at different attack angles and yaw angles. The results indicate that the lowest critical wind speed of aerostatic instability is gained when the initial yaw angle is greater than $0^{\circ}$, which suggests that perhaps yaw wind poses a disadvantage to the aerostatic stability of a long span suspension bridge. The results also show that the main span in upstream goes into instability first, and the reason for this phenomenon is discussed.
One of the key issues in spatial structures with large spaces is how to carry the weight of the roof. This can be solved by the effective use of tension members. A cable dome structural system facilitates the construction of a large space structure. As external load increases, however, the cable dome structural system is put at risk due to global buckling. This study measures the shape of the Geiger and Flower-type cable dome by applying an initial stress. This unstable phenomenon is also examined using a perfectly shaped model and an imperfect model, which are both subjected to an axisymmetric load.
