Millimeter-wave (mmWave) and Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) are expected to be the major techniques that lead to the next generation wireless communication. NOMA provides a high spectrum efficiency by sharing of spatial resources among users in the same frequency band. Meanwhile, millimeter-wave gives a huge underutilized bandwidth at extremely high frequency band (EHF) which covers 30GHz to 300GHz. These techniques have been proven in several recent literatures to achieve high data rates. The combination of NOMA and millimeter-wave techniques further improves average sum capacities, as well as reduces the interference compared to conventional wireless communication systems. In this paper, we focus on hybrid NOMA system working in millimeter-wave frequency. We propose a clustering algorithm used for a hybrid NOMA scheme to optimize the usage of wireless resources. The proposed clustering algorithm adds several conditions in grouping users and defining clusters to increase the probability of the successful superposition decoding process. The performance of the proposed clustering algorithm is investigated in hybrid NOMA system and compared with the conventional orthogonal multiple access (OMA) scheme.

In the fifth generation (5G) mobile networks, the interactive mobile game users have increased tremendously, which induces correlated information sources (CIS). One of the promising 5G technologies is non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA). In NOMA, the users share the channel resources, so that CIS affect each user's bit-error rate (BER) performance, which is not the case for orthogonal multiple access (OMA). In this paper, we derive the optimal receiver for NOMA with CIS, and then investigate the impact of CIS on each user's BER performance.

Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has gained the significant attention in the fifth generation (5G) mobile communication, which enables the advanced smart convergence of the artificial intelligence (AI), the internet of things (IoT), and many of the state-of-the-art technologies. Recently, correlated superposition coding (SC) has been proposed in NOMA, to achieve the near-perfect successive interference cancellation (SIC) bit-error rate (BER) performance for the stronger channel users, and to mitigate the severe BER performance degradation for the weaker channel users. In the correlated SC NOMA scheme, the stronger channel user BER performance is even better than the perfect SIC BER performance, for some range of the power allocation factor. However, such excessively good BER performance is not good for the user-fairness, i.e., the more power to the weaker channel user and the less power to the stronger channel user, because the excessively good BER performance of the stronger channel user results in the worse BER performance of the weaker channel user. Therefore, in this paper, we propose the power splitting to establish the user-fairness between both users. First, we derive a closed-form expression for the power splitting factor. Then it is shown that in terms of BER performance, the user-fairness is established between the two users. In result, the power splitting scheme could be considered in correlated SC NOMA for the user-fairness.

In the Internet of Thing (IoT) framework, massive machine-type communications (MMTC) have required large spectral efficiency. For this, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has emerged as an efficient solution. Recently, a non-successive interference cancellation (SIC) NOMA scheme has been implemented without loss. This lossless NOMA without SIC is achieved via correlated superposition coding (SC), in contrast to conventional independent SC. However, conventional minimum high-correlated SC for only 2-user NOMA schemes was investigated in the lossless 2-user non-SIC NOMA implementation. Thus, this paper investigates a 3-user low-correlated SC scheme, especially for an inflated achievable sum rate, with a design of 3-user low-correlated SC. First, we design the 3-user low-correlated SC scheme by taking the minimum sum rate between 3-user SIC NOMA and 3-user non-SIC NOMA, both with correlated SC. Then, simulations demonstrate that the low correlation in the direction of the first user's power allocation inflates the sum rate in the same direction, compared to that of conventional minimum high-correlated SC NOMA, and such inflation due to low correlation is also observed similarly, in the direction of the second user's power allocation. Moreover, we also show that the two low correlations of the first and second users inflates doubly in the both directions of the first and second users' power allocations. As a result, the proposed 3-user low-correlated SC could be considered as a promising scheme, with the inflated sum rate in the future fifth-generation (5G) NOMA networks.
The non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) technique offers throughput improvement to meet the demands of the future generation of wireless communication networks. The objective of this work is to further improve the throughput by including an underlay cognitive radio network with an existing multi-carrier NOMA network, using cooperative communication. The throughput is maximized by optimal resource allocation, namely, power allocation, subcarrier assignment, relay selection, user pairing, and subcarrier pairing. Optimal power allocation to the primary and secondary users is accomplished in a way that target rate constraints of the primary users are not affected. The throughput maximization is a combinatorial optimization problem, and the computational complexity increases as the number of users and/or subcarriers in the network increases. To this end, to reduce the computational complexity, a dynamic network resource allocation algorithm is proposed for combinatorial optimization. The simulation results show that the proposed network improves the throughput.
In the fifth generation (5G) mobile networks, the mobile services require 100 times faster connections. One of the promising 5G technologies is non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA). In NOMA, the users share the channel resources, so that the more users can be served simultaneously. There are several advantages offered by NOMA, such as higher spectrum efficiency and low transmission latency, compared to orthogonal multiple access (OMA), which is usually used in the fourth generation (4G) mobile networks, for example, long term evolution (LTE). In this paper, we compare the receivers for NOMA. The standard NOMA receiver, the non-SIC NOMA receiver, and the symmetric superposition coding (SC) NOMA receiver are compared. Specifically, it is shown that the performance of the standard receiver is the best, whereas the performances of the non-SIC receiver and symmetric SC receiver are dependent on the power allocation.

As a new paradigm in non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), correlated superposition coding (CSC) has gained an attention in the literature of NOMA, in contrast to standard independent superposition coding (ISC). In the conventional 3-user CSC scheme, it has been reported that the average allocated power can be reduced, owing to an introduced correlation between transmitted signals. Thus, this paper proposes a 3-user cross CSC scheme with purely-imaginary correlation coefficients. First, we derive the achievable data rates of the proposed 3-user cross CSC scheme, for each of the three users. Then, simulations demonstrate that for the proposed 3-user cross CSC scheme, the achievable data rates of the first and second users increase greatly and slightly, respectively, whereas the achievable data rate of the third user decreases little, compared to those of the conventional 3-user CSC scheme. In addition, we also show that the sum rate of the three users of the proposed 3-user cross CSC scheme is much larger than that of the three users of the conventional 3-user CSC scheme. As a result, the proposed 3-user cross CSC scheme could be a solution to the problem of the reduction of the average allocated total power in the conventional 3-user CSC scheme toward the fifth-generation (5G) NOMA mobile networks.

Non Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) is a technology to guarantee the explosively increased Quality of Service(QoS) of users in 5G networks. NOMA can remove the frequent orthogonality in Orthogonal Multiple Access (OMA) while allocating the power differentially to classify user signals. NOMA can guarantee higher communication speed than OMA. However, the NOMA has one disadvantage; it consumes a more energy power when the distance increases. To solve this problem, relay nodes are employed to implement the cooperative NOMA control idea. In a cooperative NOMA network, relay node participations for cooperative communications are essential. In this paper, a new bandwidth allocation scheme is proposed for cooperative NOMA platform. By employing the idea of Vickrey-Clarke-Groves (VCG) mechanism, the proposed scheme can effectively prevent selfishly actions of relay nodes in the cooperative NOMA network. Especially, base stations can pay incentives to relay nodes as much as the contributes of relay nodes. Therefore, the proposed scheme can control the selfish behavior of relay nodes to improve the overall system performance.

Recently, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) have been received considerable attention to be involved in the next generation mobile system. However, there are inherent inter-user interferences caused by the multiplexing multiple users in the same communication resource in NOMA systems. Two representative methods, the approximate white noise and random variable methods, have been adapted for the analysis of interferences in NOMA systems. In this paper, we derive the outage probabilities of an uplink NOMA system with the two analysis methods and compare the results. The numerical results of the outage probabilities versus transmitted power, distances, and power allocation are compared. We noticed that the derived functions are different each other, but the numerical results are coincident. It is shown that the two interference analysis methods can be applied to the analysis of NOMA systems.

NOMA (Non-orthogonal multiple Access) system has been focused on the next generation cellular system for higher spectral efficiency. However, this requires user scheduling as the NOMA system is a multi-user system which accesses simultaneously. There are two representative scheduling schemes, proportionate scheduling (FP) and cumulative distribution function (CFD) scheduling. The PF scheduling is applied, the cell edge user is hard to obtain a transmit opportunity. Recently, CDF scheduling is obviously noted that it offers the same possibility of transmission for a user regardless of the location in a cell. We consider an uplink NOMA system with CDF scheduling, and obtain the channel access probabilities, the outage probabilities of the system with different number of users and different kinds of weights through simulation. The results indicate that the likelihood of each user accessing the channel is the same and the probability of failure decreases as the number of users increases. We found that the effect of the probability of failure is negligible as the weight of the cell edge user increases.
