Lactic acid bacteria display a relatively simple metabolism wherein the sugar is converted mainly to lactic acid. The extensive knowledge of metabolic pathways and the increasing information of the genes involved allows for the rerouting of natural metabolic pathways by genetic and physiological engineering. In this contribution, the lactic acid bacteria as an efficient cell factory for different (food) ingredients will be presented. The emphasis will be on some successful examples of metabolic engineering and on the physiology of these bacteria, which makes them so suitable as a cell factory.

To investigate the effects of beam focusing in the etching of polymers with short pulse Excimer lasers, a polymer etching model of SSB's is combined with a beam focusing model. Through the numerical simulation, it was found that in the high laser fluence region, SSB model considering both photochemical and thermal contribution is considered to be suitable to predict the etched hole shape than a simple photochemical etching model. The average temperature distribution into the substance obtained by assuming 1-D heat transfer is found to be fairly similar to the fluence distribution on the ablated surface. The experimental etching data fur polymers are used to give material properties for ablation model. The fitted etch depth curve gives a nice agreement with the experimental data.

Surface treatment and chemiluminescence characteristics of the polymer film. It was studied that the Intensities and rates of treatments are in proportional to condition of the treatment, considering the results of study on treatments to polymer film with discharge and ultraviolet irradiation through the methods such as surface resistance, contact angle, dyeing method, solace ten-sion and so on. It was also studied that the said has a nice correlation with the concerned result studied by chemiluminescence. Since the chemiluminescence will enable the Investigators to grasp a eertain condition caused by quitely slight deterioration with high sensitivity, it can be also used as a way for getting an information regarding the decision for degradation-condition and life-estimating of insulation material basically related to some security matters as well as surface condition of treatments through the above method.

It is about time for Korean plant engineering industry to evaluate what they have achieved in the past and to foresee how this industry will change in the future. Since the IMF infection in the late 1997, Korean engineering industry has become to realize how important it is to formulate plans and solutions in order to be successful in the EPC industry. Korean plant engineering has accomplished remarkable growth in terms of its sales volumes and sizes of petrochemical & refinery plants they have executed, but unfortunately they have not done a nice job of generating sufficient profits. Many Korean engineering companies have carried out million and billion dollars of "projects" where they unfortunately suffered deficits, and as a result, some companies actually went deteriorated and were merged, and acquired by bigger companies. Based on above philosophy, the ten(10) key factors are suggested regarding a proposal for role and mission of chemical engineering professional engineer in plant engineering industry in the 21\\\" century.

As a natural generalization of a Sasakian space form, we define a contact strongly pseudo-convex CR-space form (of constant pseudo-holomorphic sectional curvature) by using the Tanaka-Webster connection, which is a canonical affine connection on a contact strongly pseudo-convex CR-manifold. In particular, we classify a contact strongly pseudo-convex CR-space form $(M,\;\eta,\;\varphi)$ with the pseudo-parallel structure operator $h(=1/2L\xi\varphi)$, and then we obtain the nice form of their curvature tensors in proving Schurtype theorem, where $L\xi$ denote the Lie derivative in the characteristic direction $\xi$.

소프트웨어 개발에 있어서 표준을 지키는 것은 개발하는 동안에는 개발생산성을 높일 수 있고, 유지보수를 용이하게 해 주는 장점이 있다. 데이터 표준화 지원을 위하여 데이터를 승인된 약어의 조합으로서 구성하고, 코드, 규칙 및 메시지를 관리하여 소프트웨어 내에 사용되는 데이터를 표준화 시킨다. 본 연구에서는 여러 소프트웨어를 개발하는 환경에서 데이터 표준화 지원을 위한 방법론을 제시한다. 데이터의 표현 구조를 정의하고, 각 데이터에 대한 등록 절차를 제시함으로써 표준화를 이룰 수 있다. 이러한 방법론을 이용하여, 대우정보시스템에서 전사의 데이터 표준화 지원을 위하여 NICE-GEN 이라는 CASE(Computer Aided Software Engineering) 도구를 개발했고, 실제 소프트웨어 개발에서 높은 개발생산성을 보여 주었다.

IP멀티캐스트가 현재 보편적 서비스로 사용되지 못하는 한계로 인하여 그 대안으로 응용 계층 멀티캐스트 기법들이 제안되고 있다. 기존의 응용 계층 멀티캐스트의 성능 분석 기준으로 네트워크 자원의 효율적 사용면을 고려하여 스트레스, 스트레치와 전송 트리 관리 비용등이 사용되었다. 그러나, 응용 계층 멀티캐스트는 데이터의 전송이 참가자인 종단 시스템에 의해 이루어지고, 종단 시스템은 범용 장비로서 데이터 전달에 최적화된 성능을 갖지 못한다. 따라서, 데이터 전달을 위해 종단 시스템에서의 처리 지연이 발생하고 이로 인한 종단간 데이터 전송 지연에 영향을 끼치게 된다. 본 논문에서는 종단 시스템에서의 데이터 전달을 위한 전달 지연 시간을 모델링 하고, 대표적 다대다 응용 계층 멀티캐스트 기법인 End­system Multicast와 NICE에 대하여 종단 시스템에서 발생하는 처리 지연 시간이 전체 참가자간의 데이터 전송 지연 시간에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과를 기술한다.

본 연구의 목적은 중소 창업기업 최고 경영자(CEO)의 전략적 지향성이 회사 성과에 미치는 영향을 조사하는데 있다. 본 연구에서는 CEO의 3가지 다른 차원의 전략적 지향성(고객, 경쟁자, 기술지향)을 살펴보았다. 과거 전략지향성과 성과 간의 연구는 이들 간의 직접적인 관계를 분석하였다. 본 연구는 전략적 지향성이 어떠한 기업 활동에 영향을 미쳐 기업 성과로 이어지는지 중간 매개 변수에 대한 분석을 하고자 한다. 연구결과, CEO의 고객지향성 및 기술지향성은 신제품 개발 과정의 사전기획 역량과 기능 간 협력을 향상시키고, 종업원의 조직 몰입도를 향상시킨다. 반면, CEO의 경쟁자 지향성은 사전기획 역량과 기능 간 협력 향상에 기여하지 못할 뿐만 아니라, 오히려 종업원의 조직몰입에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다.

Nonparametric tests for comparing two treatments when data are subject to unequal patterns of censorship are discussed. Best precedence test proposed by Slud can be viewed as a nice alternative test comparing with weighted log-rank tests, not to mention the advantage of short experimental period. This research revises some missing parts of Slud's test and examines the asymptotic power of it under the nonproportional hazard alternatives through the simulation. The simulation studies show best precedence test has reasonable power in the sense of robustness under nonproportional hazard alternatives and could be recommended at such situation.

We present how bootstrap methods can be used to conduct inference on the rates of Poisson distributions when only the grouped data are available. A theoretical justification for the validity of bootstrap is given with an illustration of proposed method using a data set obtained fro ma pathology laboratory test. Traditional asymptotic methods are compared with bootstrap methods in computing the estimated standard errors and achieved significance levels for one sample and two sample tests. Bootstrap methods are shown to possess a nice property that he small sample distribution of the relevant statistics can be readily obtained from the bootstrap copies.
