Purpose: The purpose of this study is developing the nursing information system which contains the core elements of nursing practice, the Nursing Minimum Data Set (NMDS) that should be collected and documented all the settings in which nursing care is provided. Method: The program was developed under the hospital information system by TCP/IP protocol and used NANDA, Nursing Interventions Classification (NIC), and Nursing Outcomes Classification (NOC) to fill out the elements of NMDS. The Oracle was used as DBMS under the Windows 98 environment and Power Builder 5.0 was used as a program language. Results: This study developed linkage among the NANDA-NOC-NIC to facilitate choosing correct nursing diagnosis, interventions, and outcomes and stimulate nurses' critical thinking. Also the system developed includes nursing care sensitive patient outcomes, so nurses can actively involve in nursing effectiveness research by analyzing the data stored in the database or by making relational databases with other health care related databases. Conclusion: The program developed in this study ultimately can be used for the nursing research, policy development, reimbursement of nursing care, and calculating staffing and nursing skill mix by providing tool to describe and organize nursing practice and measure the nursing care effectiveness.
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to investigate the level of smoking, process of smoking cessation, and nicotine dependency, and urine nicotine among adults with diabetes which are smokers and to examine the relationship among those variables. Method: The subjects consisted of 62 adult men smokers with diabetes mellitus. FTQ and NicCheck 1 were used to measure the level of nicotine dependence. The amount of cigarette smoking was measured by the number of cigarette packs use per week. The stage of smoking cessation was measured by the Prochaska's method. Results: The Subjects smoked cigarettes with a mean of 5.97 packages per week. Seventy-seven percent of the subjects had a nicotine dependency. Fifty-two percent had a high level of nicotine dependency in urine nicotine. Nineteen percent were in the precontemplation stage. The level of cigarette consumption was related to nicotine dependence and urine nicotine. Also, nicotine dependency was related to urine nicotine. Conclusion: A tailored smoking cessation program is needed to prevent the chronic complication for diabetes smokers. Self-reported smoking and nicotine dependency seemed to do equally well as NicCheck 1 in assessing nicotine intake.
To identify nursing interventions performed by Chosunjok nurses in Yanbian using NIC. Methods: The sample consisted of 36 nurses working in 2 hospitals. The Nursing Interventions Use Questionnaire developed by the Iowa Intervention Project team was used for data collection. The instrument was translated to Korean using the method of back-translation. Results: Twenty-eight interventions were performed at least daily. Interventions in the Physiological: Basic domain were most frequently used at least daily. The most frequently used interventions was Positioning, followed by the interventions Pressure Ulcer Prevention, Intravenous (IV) Therapy, Hypothermia Treatment and Intravenous (IV) Insertion. The least frequently used interventions was Electronic Fetal Monitoring: Antepartum. Nurses working in special medical care units performed interventions most often, while nurses working in general surgical units performed them least. Nurses working in general medical, special medical and other care units performed interventions in the Physiological domain more often than the nurses working in general surgical units. Conclusion: Chosunjok nurses in Yanbian performed physiological interventions frequently. Further studies will be needed to compare interventions performed by nurses in two countries.
Purpose: This study was to identify nursing diagnosis-outcome-intervention (NANDA- NOC-NIC: NNN) linkages applied to inpatients in general surgical nursing units. Methods: We developed the NNN linkage computerized nursing process program, which consisted of the 107 nursing outcomes and the 190 nursing interventions linked to the 39 nursing diagnoses. This program was applied to 324 patients who admitted to those nursing units from July, 2004 to February, 2005. Results: First, nursing outcomes of each nursing diagnosis were identified as follows: for 'acute pain', pain control, pain level, and comfort level; for 'risk for infection', wound healing: primary intention, wound healing: secondary intention, and infection status; for 'nausea', nutritional status: food & fluid intake, comfort level, symptom severity and hydration. Second, major nursing interventions for each nursing outcome were analyzed as follows: for pain control or comfort level, pain management and medication management; for pain level, pain management and analgesic administration; for wound healing: primary intention, incision site care and wound care; for Wound healing: secondary intention or infection status, infection control; for nutritional status: food & fluid intake, fluid monitoring; for comfort level, nausea management; for symptom severity, nausea management and vomiting management; for hydration, fluid/electrolyte management. Conclusion: This identified NNN linkages will facilitate the use of nursing process in surgical nursing practice and documentation systems.
The purpose of this study were to find ethnic fashion's background in the late period of 20th century to compare the World ethnic with the Korean ethnic through content analysis and to identify Korean ethnic of the world fashion Eth-nic fashion started at orientalism by Poiret in the 1910s advancing to African ethnic & Hippy fe-ver in 1960s-70-s have emerged variously with ecology in 1980s-90s' fashion trend. The next the present research analyzed the world ethnic and the Korean ethnnic. The identified 517 fashion photograph from fashion magazines were categorized into two areas: the trend of ex-ternal growth and ethnic fashion's origins/designers wearable situation colors fabrics/pattern. The result were as follows :First eth-nic fashion's external growth of both the World ethnic and the Korean ethnic were incresed. Sec-ond in the ethnic fasions' origins/designers while the World ethnic were almost the same rate between Asian and European ethnic by many designers the Korean ethnic were limited to Asian ethnic Third in the ethnic fashion's wearable situation while the World ethnic were variously wearing the Korean ethnic were lim-ited to work of collection. Forth in the ethnic fashion's colors the Korean ethnic were limited to white color. Last in the ethnic fashions' fabrics/patterns If the Korean ethnic would become a world of ethnic would become a world of ethnic fashion it should be deviced practival abrics and modernized patterns.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the nursing diagnosis-outcome-intervention (NANDA-NOC-NIC) linkages for gynecology inpatients shown in their electronic nursing records. Methods: This retrospective and descriptive research was conducted in two steps and based on the 287 electronic nursing records for 253 patients. First, nursing diagnoses, outcomes and interventions were collected. To identify major nursing diagnoses, a comparison was done with the top 10 nursing diagnoses from this research and with previous research selected using a content validity index developed by a team of professionals. Second, nursing outcomes and interventions that were associated with major nursing diagnoses were identified. Results: Nineteen nursing diagnoses, 12 nursing outcomes, and 40 nursing interventions were collected. The top 5 major nursing diagnoses were identified and 7 nursing outcomes and 18 nursing interventions associated with these diagnoses were checked. Conclusion: The identified NANDA-NOC-NIC linkages can contribute to improving nursing practice and will help in the establishment of standardized nursing care.

Purpose : This study was to develop Nursing Process Model of abdominal surgery patient using nursing diagnoses of NANDA, Nursing Interventions Classification(NIC), and Nursing Outcomes Classification(NOC). Method : The data in database were collected from nursing records in sixty patients with abdominal surgery admitted in a university hospital and open questionnaires of thirteen nurses. Systematic nursing process resulting from each nursing diagnoses, most common, was developed by the statistical analysis through database query from clinical database of abdominal surgery patients. Result : 51 nursing diagnoses were identified in abdominal surgery patients. The most commonly occurred nursing diagnoses were Pain, Risk for Infection, Sleep Pattern Disturbance, Hyperthermia, Altered Nutrition: Less Than Body Requirements in order. The linkage lists of NANDA to NIC and NANDA to NOC, and the nursing activities according to nursing diagnoses of abdominal surgery patients were identified in unit. Conclusion : Nursing Process of abdominal surgery patients was comprised of core nursing diagnoses, core nursing interventions, core nursing outcomes which provides the most reliable data in unit and could make nurses facilitate nursing process easily without full consideration of knowledge about nursing language classification system. Therefore, it could support nurses' decision making and recording of nursing process especially in the computerized patient record system if unit nursing process model using standardized nursing language system which contains of their own core nursing process data was developed.
Common mode (CM) chokes are a crucial part in EMI filters for mitigating the electromagnetic interference (EMI) of switched-mode power supplies (SMPS) and for meeting electromagnetic compatibility standards. However, the parasitic capacitances of a CM choke deteriorate its high frequency filtering performance, which results in increases in the design cycle and cost of EMI filters. Therefore, this paper introduces a negative capacitance generated by a negative impedance converter (NIC) to cancel the influence of equivalent parallel capacitance (EPC). In this paper, based on a CM choke equivalent circuit, the EPCs of CM choke windings are accurately calculated by measuring their impedance. The negative capacitance is designed quantitatively and the EPC cancellation mechanisms are analyzed. The impedance of the CM choke in parallel with negative capacitances is tested and compared with the original CM choke using an impedance analyzer. Moreover, a CL type CM filter is added to a fabricated NIC prototype, and the insertion loss of the prototype is measured to verify the cancellation effect. The prototype is applied to a power converter to test the CM conducted noise. Both small signal and EMI measurement results show that the proposed technique can effectively cancel the EPCs and improve the CM filter's high frequency filtering performance.

This study was done to identify basic information in classifying nursing diagnoses and nursing interventions needed for the further development of computerized nursing care plans. Data were collected by reviewing charts of 123 home care clients who had active disease, for whom at least one nursing diagnosis was on the chart, and who had been discharged. Data included demographics, medical orders, nursing diagnoses and nursing interventions. The results of the study, which found the most frequent medical diagnoses to be cancer (40.7%) and brain injury (26.8%), showed that 'Impaired Skin Integrity'(18.3%), 'Risk for Infection'(15.0%), 'Altered Nutrition, Less than Body Requirements'(13.8%), and 'Risk for Impaired Skin Integ rity'(9.9%) were the most frequent nursing diagnoses. 'Pressure Ulcer Care'(28.4%) was the most frequent intervention for 'Impaired Skin Integrity', 'Infection Protection'(16.0%) for 'Risk of Infection', 'Nutrition Counseling'(26.8%) for 'Altered Nutrition' and 'Positioning'(22.0%) for 'Risk for Skin Integrity Impairment', Comparison of interventions with the Nursing Intervention Classification(NIC) showed that the most frequent interventions were in the domain 'Basic Physiological' (33.94%), followed by 'Behavioral'(27.8%), and 'Complex Physiological' (22.6%). Interventions related to teaching family to give care at home could not be classified in the NIC scheme. Examination of the frequency of NIC interventions showed that for the domain 'Activity & Exercise Management', 75% of the interventions were used, but for seven domains, none were used. For the domain 'Immobility Management', 93% of the times that an intervention was used, it was 'Positioning', for the domain 'Tissue Perfusion Management', 'IV Therapy' (59.1%) and for the domain 'Elimination Management', 'Tube Care: Urinary'(54.0%). The nursing diagnoses 'Altered Urinary Elimination' and 'Im paired Physical Mobility' were both used with these clients, but neither 'Fluid Volume Deficit' nor 'Risk of Fluid Volume Deficit' were used rather 'IV Therapy' was an intervention for 'Altered Nutrition, Less than Body Requirements', A comparison of clients with cancer and those with brain injury showed that interventions for the nursing diagnosis 'Impaired Skin Integrity' were more frequent for the clients with cancer, interventions for 'Risk of Infection' were similar for the two groups but for clients with cancer there were more interventions for' Altered Nutrition'. Examination of the nursing diagnoses leading to the intervention 'Positioning' showed that for both groups, it was either 'Impaired Skin Integrity' or 'Risk for Skin Integrity Impairment'. This study identified a need for further refinement in the classification of nursing interventions to include those unique to home care and that for the purposes of computerization identification of the nursing activities to be included in each intervention needs to be done.

Background: The purpose of the study was to analyze the contents and importance of clinical practicum education in adult health nursing. Methods: This is a descriptive study using content analysis for identifying the items of clinical nursing checklists gathered from 13 university nursing programs accredited by Korean Accreditation Board of Nursing Education. Items in the checklist were standardized in accordance with the Nursing Intervention Classification (NIC) and categorized into simple-technical skill, complex-technical skill, and disease-specific care. The perceived significance of each item was examined by surveying nurses who in charge of nurse education from various clinical setting. Results: A total of 182 items in the clinical practicum contents were analyzed, and the terminologies of each item were variously described among nursing schools. Fifty percent of the total items were categorized into simple-technical skill. In terms of clinical importance, expert validity results showed that nurses considered infection control, infection protection, and fall prevention as the most significant items, which was not the same as the most common items in the clinical nursing checklist. Conclusion: These findings suggest that standardized nursing terminologies are needed to describe a nursing practicum checklist. Clinical importance of each item in the checklist should be taken into consideration in developing a clinical nursing checklist to assist the students in achieving the competencies as a clinical nurse.
