  • A rapidly developed satellite technology is used in comprehensive fields such as spatial data aquisition and applications. Especially a GPS positioning is expected to reinvigorate at the national reference system changes to ITRF (International Terrain Reference Frame). Currently the National Geographic Information Institute (NGII) issues a triangulation point coordinate by separating old and new coordinates and in the year of 2007 it will be scheduled to be changed ITRF. The triangulation point coordinate in Cheju area causes some problems due to the difference original observation and re-observation. Thus in this study a GPS observation is conducted after re-organizing geodetic network based on 1st and 2nd order triangulation in order to check the current triangulation points in Cheju area. After the GPS observation data analysis, stable points were extracted, proposed a geodetic network and its application.

  • Recently, many WMS(Web Map Services) and POI(Point of Interest) services come to be in service on the Internet using Web GIS(Geographic Information System) as Information Technology and computer H/W are evolved faster in its speed, network bandwidth and features. The Web GIS is, however, limited and constrained on the specification of its system configuration, the service class provided and the presentation methodology of a map. As the mobile Internet becomes popular in mobile service, Web GIS service on mobile environment is strongly required and to be provided by location based WMS(Web Map Service) on a mobile client such as PDA with location information of the user. In this paper, we made an effort to design and implement a GIS computing environment by thin client for mobile web map service. For implementing the thin client GIS computing environment. we were using NGII's(National Geographic Information Institute's) DXF map, representing the map by SVG(Scalable Vector Graphics) recommended by OGC(OpenGis Consortium), and adapting standard XML web service to provide the thin client GIS service on PDA by applying the location information of the user in realtime with GPS on mobile environment.

  • The solar energy are an infinite source of energy and a clean energy without secondary pollution. The global solar energy reaching the earth's surface can be calculated easily according to the change of latitude, altitude, and sloped surface depending on the amount of the actual state of the atmosphere and clouds. The high-resolution solar-meteorological resource map with 1km resolution was developed in 2011 based on GWNU (Gangneung-Wonju National University) solar radiation model with complex terrain. The very high resolution solar energy map can be calculated and analyzed in Seoul and Eunpyung with topological effect using by 1km solar-meteorological resources map, respectively. Seoul DEM (Digital Elevation Model) have 10m resolution from NGII (National Geographic Information Institute) and Eunpyeong new town DSM (Digital Surface Model) have 1m spatial resolution from lidar observations. The solar energy have small differences according to the local mountainous terrain and residential area. The maximum bias have up to 20% and 16% in Seoul and Eunpyung new town, respectively. Small differences are that limited area with resolutions. As a result, the solar energy can calculate precisely using solar radiation model with topological effect by digital elevation data and its results can be used as the basis data for the photovoltaic and solar thermal generation.

  • Bridge structures are designed to support ordinary loadings such as vehicles, wind, temperature and current as well as unexpected loadings like earthquakes and storm. Especially, the displacement of Flexible bridges like an suspension bridge under ordinary loading conditions is necessary to be monitored. In case of long span bridges, there are some difficulties in monitoring the displacement of center of the main span using traditional laser displacement sensors. In this study, the static and dynamic displacement responses due to vehicle loadings were measured by DGPS(differential global positioning system) technique. The displacement response data were compared with data obtained from traditional laser displacement sensors so that the static and dynamic behavior of the bridge under vehicle loadings was examined and the applicability of the displacement response measurement using DGPS technique was verified. The static and dynamic loading test for an self-anchored suspension bridge, So-rok Bridge, was performed using vehicles. The displacement response from DGPS technique and that from laser displacement sensors of the bridge monitoring system were compared. The amplitude of white noise from DGPS based measurement was about 7 mm and that of laser displacement sensor based measurement was about 3 mm. On the other hand, dynamic behavior of the center of main span from DGPS based measurement showed better agreement with influence line of the bridge than that from laser displacement sensors. In addition, there were some irregular and discontinuous variation of data due to the instability of GPS receivers or frequent appearance of GPS satellites. Post-processing via the reference station close to an observation post provided by NGII(National Geographic Information Institute) will be a counter-plan for these defects.

  • As the availability of images from airborne digital camera with high resolution is expanded, a lot of concern are shown about the production of orthoimage and digital map. This study presents the method of updating digital map using orthoimage from airborne digital camera image. Images were georectified using GPS surveying data. For the generation of orthoimage, Lidar DEM was used. The absolute positional accuracy of orthoimage was evaluated using GPS surveying data. And that of the building layer of digital map was estimated using the existed digital map at the scale of 1:1,000. The absolute positional accuracy of orthoimage was as followed: RMSE in X and Y were ${\pm}0.076m$ and ${\pm}0.294m$. The RMSE of the building layer were ${\pm}0.250m$ and ${\pm}0.210m$ in X and Y directions, respectively. The RMSE of the digital map using orthoimage from Aerial Digital Camera image fell within allowable error range established by NGII. Consequently, updating digital map using orthoimage from Aerial Digital Camera image can be applied to various fields including the construction of the framework data and the GIS of local government.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the feasibility of using Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)/Geoid technology in determining orthometric height in mountain. For the study, a test bed was set up in and around Mount Jiri and GNSS surveying were conducted. The orthometric height of 39 benchmarks was determined by applying the EGM2008, KNGeoid13, and KNGeoid14 geoid models and the accuracy was estimated by comparing with the offical Benchmarks orthometric height value issued by National Geographic Information Institute(NGII) and finally, the results were analyzed with the Aerial Photogrammetry Work Regulations. As a result of the study, it was found that the accuracy of the orthometric height determination by GNSS/Geoid technology was ${\pm}7.1cm$ when the KNGeoid14 geoid model was applied. And also, it can be confirmed that it is usable for the less than 1/1000 plotting scales as a vertical reference point for the aerial triangulation in Aerial Photogrammetry.

  • For improvement of network RTK performance in survey field, Spatial Information Research Institute (SIRI), LX Korea Cadastral Survey Corporation installed 30 GNSS permanent stations in Korea Peninsula, and has been running the MAC-based network RTK service as a test version. In this paper, we introduce the LX GNSS network and analyze the positioning accuracy of the LX MAC RTK service. For field test of the LX MAC RTK service, we installed temporally fixed anchor points and observed simultaneously with VRS of National Geographic Information Institute. As a result, the horizontal position differences and initial times of LX MAC with respect to NGII VRS are $1{\sim}2{\pm}1cm$ and <10 seconds, respectively.

  • This study aims to standardize the work classification system in spatial data. Up to now, a systematic standard for constructing process and quality management has not yet been established in Korea, thus, it is possible for the national budget to be wasted. The regulations related to constructing spatial data are also obscure, and absurd for feasible application to reality, which results in a lack of reliability of the quality of spatial data. This study was conducted by investigating and analyzing regulations related to spatial data quality and various literature, including studies on spatial data quality conducted by the NGII. And also, the study was conducted by investigating and analyzing the constructing processes and working methods of major firms that have experience in constructing a GIS for a local governing body. Based on the analyzed data, we standardized work classification and management methodology for control point surveying using GPS, leveling, aerial photographing, digital mapping, topographic mapping, digital elevation modeling, aerial photographic DB construction, digital orthophotomap.

  • GPS RTK surveying has an issue that the positioning error increases as the base line distance between the reference station and rover station increases. However, nowadays, an accuracy assessment that can handle such issue is surely required because of the modernization of GLONASS, Galileo project, and other improvements of satellite receiving conditions. Therefore, in this research, we compared and analyzed data sets collected with the CORS network, placed at NGII and NDGPS, using Internet RTK surveying in different satellite receiving conditions. As a result, there was a negative effect on the positioning accuracy as the base line distance increases. Furthermore, we could collect quantitative data of the accuracy of RTK surveying. When national-wide GNSS system is fully established, this result will contribute the growth of various GNSS industries including survey industries and land survey industries.
