재래닭의 근육 성장과 관련되는 cDNA Clone의 염기서열 및 특성 (DNA Sequence and Characteristics of Muscle Development cDNA Clone Derived from Korean Native Chicken)

  • 본 연구는 재래닭의 성장 관련 유용 유전자를 검색하기 위하여, 재래닭에서 발현되는 유전자와 코니쉬에서 발현되는 유전자를 subtraction하여 cDNA library를 구축하고, 염기서열을 밝혀서 재래닭 특이 유용 유전자를 검증하고자 하였다. cDNA library에서 얻은 clone들의 염기서열을 분석하여 나타난 결과를 5개의 clone을 비교 분석하였다. Clone NDS-1(618nt)은 비록 타 종과의 상동성은 낮으나(10%) 해당 과정에서 중요한 역할을 담당하는 triosephosphate isomerase이며, Clone NDS-6(651nt)는 자에서 해당 과정에 관여하는 glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase로 여겨진다. 그러나 3가지 유전자(clone NDS-2, NDS-10, NDS-12)는 다른 유전자들과 비교하여 5.0%내외의 낮은 상동성을 보이고 고등 동물과 거의 유사성이 없으므로 재래닭 특이 성장 관련 유용 유전자일 가능성이 있다.

NDS공법의 현장시험시공을 통한 지반개량 효과에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement Effects of Soft Ground through In-Situ Construction of NDS)

  • This study applied the NDS method to the creek levee and the foundation of a building, for the purpose of ground improvement and cut-off. The conclusions are shown in the following. (1) The results of the field tests in the creek levee are as follows; the N value of the standard penetration test is $2{\sim}3$ before NDS grout and $9{\sim}21$ after NDS grout; in the alluvial layer, $7{\sim}11$ before NDS grout and $14{\sim}23$ after NDS grout. This confirms increasing ground strength with consistency ranging from stiff to very stiff. (2) The result of the permeability test in the creek levee shows that the ground had a great hydraulic conductivity with complete leakage before ground improvement but that the hydraulic conductivity has significantly increased to $3.17{\times}10^{-5}{\sim}4.65{\times}10^{-5}cm/sec$ after ground improvement by the NDS method. (3) The result from the field test of the foundation of the building confirms great reinforcing effects, showing that the allowable bearing capacity has increased from Pa = 5.0 $t/m^2$ before reinforcement to Pa = 25.0 $t/m^2$ after reinforcement.

제비집 시알산 유래 영양전달체(Nutrient Delivery System)의 인지기능 및 운동기능 개선 효과 (Improvements in Cognitive and Motor Function by a Nutrient Delivery System Containing Sialic Acid from Edible Bird's Nest)

  • The objective of this study was to produce a nutrient delivery system (NDS) using sialic acid extracted from edible bird's nest (EBN), which improves brain function in patients with Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease, by affinity bead technology (ABT). The inhibitory activity of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and pyramidal cells in the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus were analyzed to investigate the effect of a sialic acid NDS on Alzheimer's disease. Also, the effect of a sialic acid NDS on Parkinson's disease was evaluated by rota-rod test and pole test in an animal model. Among the groups treated with donepezil, EBN, and sialic acid NDS, the AChE activity was the lowest in the sialic acid NDS-treated group. The results of the hippocampus analysis of the rat model confirmed that the sialic acid NDS inhibited amyloid-beta accumulation depending upon the concentration. Also, the sialic acid NDS group showed more improvement in motor deterioration than the1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-induced group in both the rota-rod test and pole test. Therefore, the sialic acid NDS had an effect of protecting not only Alzheimer's disease by inhibiting AChE and amyloid-beta accumulation, but Parkinson's disease by preventing neurotoxicity induced by MPTP.

The Control of Electrostatic Characteristics in Toner Type Paper-like Display

  • The toner type paper-like display (PLD) has been developed with two polymer particles having opposite polarity which is composed of polymer, colorant and external additives (nano-sized silica). Nano-sized silica with triboelectric charge was used for the charge control agent (CCA) and influenced on the electrostatic properties of the silica-coated polymer particles. The PLD cell using silica-coated particles (200 seconds) had shown a good white appearance and low driving voltage. The result could be explained in terms of the surface morphology and the cohesiveness depending on the silica coating time.

  • 빅 데이터 시대의 도래와 함께, SSD(HDD) 도입 비용의 증가 등에 따라 최근 국내외 PC방 및 기관에서는 NDS(No Disk System) 솔루션을 도입해 오고 있다. NDS는 일종의 클라우드 컴퓨팅 기반의 스토리지 가상화 솔루션으로서 기존의 개별 컴퓨터에 설치되어 관리하였던 운영체제와 응용 프로그램을 중앙 서버에서 관리하는 방식이다. 본 논문에서는 NDS 환경에서의 사용자 행위 분석에 대한 방법에 대하여 알아보도록 하겠다.

Enrichment of Short-Chain Ceramides and Free Fatty Acids in the Skin Epidermis, Liver, and Kidneys of db/db Mice, a Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Model

  • Patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) often suffer from diverse skin disorders, which might be attributable to skin barrier dysfunction. To explore the role of lipid alterations in the epidermis in DM skin disorders, we quantitated 49 lipids (34 ceramides, 14 free fatty acids (FFAs), and cholesterol) in the skin epidermis, liver, and kidneys of db/db mice, a Type 2 DM model, using UPLC-MS/MS. The expression of genes involved in lipid synthesis was also evaluated. With the full establishment of hyperglycemia at the age of 20 weeks, remarkable lipid enrichment was noted in the skin of the db/db mice, especially at the epidermis and subcutaneous fat bed. Prominent increases in the ceramides and FFAs (>3 fold) with short or medium chains ($LXR{\alpha}/{\beta}$ and $PPAR{\gamma}$, nuclear receptors promoting lipid synthesis, lipid synthesis enzymes such as elongases 1, 4, and 6, and fatty acid synthase and stearoyl-CoA desaturase were highly expressed in the skin and livers of the db/db mice. Collectively, our study demonstrates an extensive alteration in the skin and systemic lipid profiles of db/db mice, which could contribute to the development of skin disorders in DM.

친환경적인 무기질계 주입재(NDS)의 내구성에 관한 연구 (The Durability of Environmentally Friendly Inorganic Grouting Material(NDS))

  • 현재 지반주입공법에 사용되는 약액으로는 물유리계가 주로 사용되고 있다. 그러나 물유리계를 사용한 약액주입공법은 현장적용에 있어서 내구성 저하, 강도 저하, 용탈 현상 등의 여러 가지 문제점을 가지는 바, 한시적인 차수용도로 사용될 수는 있으나 영구적인 지반보강 및 차수를 위해서는 본질적인 문제점을 가지고 있다. 본연구에서는 이러한 물유리계 지반주입재의 문제점을 해결할 수 있는 무기질계 지반주입재(NDS)의 환경영향평가 및 내구성을 규명하기 위하여 대표적인 물유리계 재료인 SGR 재료와 함께 일축압축강도시험, 어독성시험, 내구성시험, 침적 후 삼축투수시험을 실시하였다. 내구성시험 결과, 재령 28일 강도는 NDS가 SGR보다 1.5배 크게 나타났으며, 어독성시험 결과 SGR의 생존율은 50~70%, NDS는 100%로 나타났고 이는 NDS의 생존율이 SGR보다 더 높다는 것을 보여주었다. 따라서 시험결과를 종합해 볼 때 전반적으로 NDS가 SGR에 비해 내구성면에서 우수하며 친환경적임을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • Superparamagnetic regions and magnetic anisotropic properties in randomly orientated Co nano dots(NDs) were investigated as a function of dot diameter, spacing, and density. The Co NDs were fabricated by intentionally exposing a laser source on ultra thin film. Various dot sizes are ultimately realized by changing laser power, scan condition, and intial film thickness. Magnetic hysteresis loops, angle-dependent magnetization, and temperature dependence magnetization of the Co NDs were measured with a superconducting quantum interference device. The analysis of magnetization and hysteresis loops was effectively used to determine superparamagnetic regions of the Co NDs. Up to now, the experimentally observed results repeal that room temperature superparamagnetic limit of our Co NDs was about 30 nm in diameter, with the confirmation of high resolution transmission electron microscope.

Memory Characteristics of High Density Self-assembled FePt Nano-dots Floating Gate with High-k $Al_2O_3$ Blocking Oxide

  • In this letter, We have investigated cell characteristics of the alloy FePt-NDs charge trapping memory capacitors with high-k $Al_2O_3$ dielectrics as a blocking oxide. The capacitance versus voltage (C-V) curves obtained from a representative MOS capacitor embedded with FePt-NDs synthesized by the post deposition annealing (PDA) treatment process exhibit the window of flat-band voltage shift, which indicates the presence of charge storages in the FePt-NDs. It is shown that NDs memory with high-k $Al_2O_3$ as a blocking oxide has performance in large memory window and low leakage current when the diameter of ND is below 2 nm. Moreover, high-k $Al_2O_3$ as a blocking oxide increases the electric field across the tunnel oxide, while reducing the electric field across the blocking layer. From this result, this device can achieve lower P/E voltage and lower leakage current. As a result, a FePt-NDs device with high-k $Al_2O_3$ as a blocking oxide obtained a~7V reduction in the programming voltages with 7.8 V memory.
