The effects of olive oil on the quality characteristics of pressed ham were investigated. Five different treatments were carried out varying the amount of olive oil added to pressed ham. for the control, 10% back fat among the total ham components was added without any olive oil. For the first treatment, 5% olive oil within the lard component was added into the pressed ham. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th treatments included 10%, 15% and 20% olive oil, respectively. Manufactured pressed hams containing olive oil were vacuum packaged and then stored for 28 days at $4^{\circ}C$. The crude protein and crude fat were not significantly different between the control and olive oil treated hams. The moisture and crude ash contents of olive oil treated hams was significantly lower than that of the control(p<0.05). There was no significant difference in pH between the control and olive oil treated hams. The pH increased during the first 7 days of storage and then decreased somewhat for the remainder of the 28 day storage period for all treatments. The meat color $b^*$ value of olive oil treated hams was higher than that of the control, whereas the meat color $a^*$ value decreased with the inclusion of olive oil. Neither value changed during the period of storage. There was no significant difference in texture between the control and olive oil treated hams throughout the storage period. In summary, pressed ham manufactured with added olive oil showed no change in physico-chemical properties and texture characteristics. Thus, it may be assumed that high quality pressed ham can be manufactured with increased monounsaturated fatty acid content.

Five different treatments were tested based on differences in the amount of grape seed oil added to the pressed ham. As a control, 10% back fat was added without any grape seed oil. For the first treatment, 10% grape seed oil replaced a portion of the lard component added to the pressed ham. For the 2nd, 3rd and 4th treatments, 20%, 30% and 40% of grape seed oil were substituted for lard, respectively. Pressed ham manufactured with grape seed oil was vacuum packaged and stored for 1, 7, 14,21 and 28 d at $4^{\circ}C$. Samples were analyzed for chemical composition, physico-chemical properties (pH, color) and texture characteristics. Typical chemical composition characteristics (crude protein, crude fat, crude ash) were not significantly different between control and grape seed oil treatment groups. Moisture content of grape seed oil treatment groups (GSO 30% and 40%) was significantly lower than that of controls (p<0.05). There was a not clear difference in pH between control and grape seed oil treatment groups. In the 21 d of storage, pH values of all treatments were significantly higher than those of other storage days. Meat color $(CIEL^*\;and\;b^*)$ of grape seed oil treatment group (GSO 40%) was significantly higher than that of control. Whereas meat color a value of GSO 40% treatment was significantly lower than that of control. It was not clearly changed as storage time increased. There was no significant difference in texture between control and grape seed oil treatment groups, and appeared to be unaffected by storage length. Based on these findings, we conclude that the chemical composition and texture characteristics of manufactured pressed ham were not affected by grape seed oil addition. These results also indicate that high-quality pressed ham can be manufactured with increased polyunsaturated fatty acid content.

There was no significant difference in TBARS values between the control and olive oil treated hams. The TBARS values increased significantly during storage for all treatments. With regard to changes in fatty acid composition, the contents of C14:0-C20:4 were decreased significantly by the addition of olive oil. The saturated fatty acid and polyunsaturated fatty acid contents of the control were significantly higher than the olive oil treated hams. Higher levels of added olive oil resulted in significantly higher monounsaturated fatty acid contents. Based on these findings, we conclude that the sensory properties and lipid oxidation (TBARS) of manufactured pressed hams are not affected by olive oil addition. These results also indicate that high-quality pressed ham can be manufactured with increased monounsaturated fatty acid content.
A study was carried out to identify the life cycle of Adoxophyes orana (Lepidoptera: Tortrididae) that inflicts tea tree leaves in Korea and selected three ecofriendly pesticides (Common name for commercial: Essential oil, Nemacatch, and Wormstop in Korean Farmers' Market) of A. orana for pest control. A. orana appeared to follow four life cycle phases a year; each presenting varying developmental periods dependent on seasonal and environmental factors. The fecundity of A. orana female was $24.6{\pm}4.10$ for $1^{st}$, $36.7{\pm}12.77$ for$ 2^{nd}$, and $27.9{\pm}4.22$ for $3^{rd}$ phase during 2011, while it was $65.0{\pm}32.72$, $49.7{\pm}30.27$, $63.8{\pm}27.22$ for corresponding phases during 2012. The average longevity of adult A. orana was 7.72 days. The average number of eggs deposited by each female in this study group was 44.62 with an average of 2.47. In three selected ecofriendly pesticides, the mortality of A. orana on treating with the Essential oil [The essential oil of Chamaecyparis obtuse (100%)] and Nemacatch [Azadirachtin 800-900 ppm (75%)] were 36.67% and 43.33% after 3 days and were 48.30% and 56.67% after 7days, respectively. Besides, the mortality of A. orana on treating with Wormstop [Azadirachtin 500 ppm (5%) and Salannin+Liminoids (95%)] was 61.67% and 78.33% after 3 and 7 days, respectively. Therefore, the application of Wormstop was the most useful to control the diseases caused by A. orana.
For the environmental friendly management of diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella (L.), Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki ($30{\times}10^8\;cfu/mg$) and neem oil (0.5% azadirachtin) were used as green control agencies with mixed and alternative treatments on the chinese cabbage. When Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki was applied to 1st and 2nd larva of P. xylostella with recommended concentration, their mortalities were reached to 100% by 2 days after treatment. In case of azadirachtin, its effect of mortality was continued for 7 days, and reached to 100% mortality. $LC_{50}$ values of Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki and azadirachtin against 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th larva of P. xylostella were $2.8{\times}10^4$, $3.1{\times}10^4$, $3.4{\times}10^4$ and $1.5{\times}10^5\;cfu/ml$, and 2.7, 3.9, 4.7 and 7.1 ppm, respectively. The number of laid eggs of P. xylostella was reduced to 57.5 at 25 ppm of azadirachtin compared with control treatment. The hatch ratio was not significantly different with Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki treatment in comparison with control treatment. However, when azadirachtin was applied, their hatch ratio were reduced to 25.8 and 45.4% at 25 and 50 ppm, respectively. On the other hand, emergence rate of eggs was not different with Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki treatment, but 45.4% was shown in azadirachtin treatment with 50 ppm in comparison with control. When the mixture with Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki and azadirachtin was applied to adults of P. xylostella, their mortality was higher than Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki treatment only. These results are supposed that the mixture of Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki and azadirachtin might be used as green control agents for reducing the demage of diamondback moth in the Chinse cabbage.
This paper presents the numerical analysis results of the viscous flow for a full ship model. The mass and momentum conservation equations are used for governing equations, and the flow field is discretized by the Finite-Volume Method for the numerical calculation. An algebraic grid and elliptic grid generation techniques are adopted for generation of the body-fitted coordinates system, which is suitable to ship's hull forms. Time-marching procedure is used to solve the three-dimensional unsteady problem, where the convection terms are approximated by the QUICK scheme and the 2nd-order central differencing scheme is used for other spatial derivatives. A Sub-Grid Scale turbulence model is used to approximate the turbulence, and the wall function is used at the body surface. Pressure and velocity fields are calculated by the simultaneous iteration method. Numerical calculations were accomplished for the Crude Oil Tanker(DWT 95,000tons, Cb=0.805) model. Calculation results are compared to the experimental results and show good agreements.

The adhesives joining Buddhist scripture scrolls from medieval Korea(Goryeo Dynasty, A.D. 918~1392) are different from wheat starch adhesive. The composition of the adhesive was analyzed using Attenuated Total Reflectance-Fourier Transform Infrared(ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy. In the adhesive used to join Buddhist scripture scrolls, peaks attributed to amide I and amide II of the protein and carbohydrate were detected in the ATR-FTIR spectra, and no carbonyl peak($1745cm^{-1}$) for oil was detected in the 2nd derivative ATR-FTIR spectra. The ATR-FTIR spectra almost coincided with those of defatted soybean powder adhesive. Hence, the adhesives joining Buddhist scripture scrolls were inferred to be soybean adhesive prepared from a defatted soybean cake.
Two experiments were conducted to compare the dietary supplemental influence of conjugated linoleic acid(CLA), soybean oil(SBO) and commercial tallow(CT) on MEn, performance and breast meat composition of broiler chicks. Diets contained 21.5, 19% CP and 3,100, 3,100kcal/kg ME for starter and finisher, respectively. Each three levels(1.0, 2.0, 3.0%) of CLA, SBO, CT were supplemented to basal diets. Five hundred fDrty and three hundred sixty one day old, male broiler chicks were replaced to 3$\times$3, 2$\times$3 factorial design with four replicates in Expt 1 and 2. Weight gain, fled intake, fled conversion, W antibody titer and fatty acid composition were measured. Metabolizable energy(ME) were measured through the metabolic feeding trial in each oil. ME was 8,542, 9,179, 8,733 kcal/kg in CLA, SBO and CT, respectively. In Expt 1, weight gain was not statistically different between dietary oil treatments. Feed intake was significantly increased by CLA supplement(P<0.05). Feed conversion was significantly improved in SBO supplemental groups of all treatments(P<0.05). Weight gain and feed intake were significantly increased and fled conversion was significantly improved in CLA 2% and 3% supplemental groups compared with CLA 1% group(P<0.05). Fatty acid composition of breast meat was changed by CLA supplement. CLA content of breast meat was 12.23, 18.74, 25.67 mg/g in 1, 2, and 3% CLA treatments and showed significant difference between them(P<0.05). In Expt 2, CLA supplements increased weight gain signi(icantly for (inishing period(P<0.05) compared to that of other treatments. There was no significant difference in M Antibody titer in Expt 1 and Expt 2. As the results of these experiments, birds fed CLA tended to gain higher weight and significantly increased CLA contents of breast meat(P<0.05).
Batch experiments for the soil washing coupled with the magnetic separation process were performed to remediate the soil contaminated with metal and oil wastes. The soil was seriously contaminated by Zn and TPH (total petroleum hydrocarbon), of which concentrations were 1743.3 mg/kg and 3558.9 mg/kg, respectively, and initial concentrations of Zn, Pb, Cu, and TPH were higher than the 2nd SPWL (soil pollution warning limit: remediation goal). The soil washing with acidic solution was performed to remove heavy metals from the soil, but Pb and Zn concentration of the soil maintained higher than the 2nd SWPL even after the soil washing with acidic solution. The 2nd soil washing was repeated to increase the Pb and Zn removal efficiency and the Zn and Pb removal efficiencies additionally increased by only 8 % and 5 %, respectively, by the 2nd soil washing (> 2nd SPWL). The small particle separation from the soil was conducted to decrease the initial concentration of heavy metals and to increase the washing effectiveness before the soil washing and 4.1 % of the soil were separated as small particles (< 0.075 mm in diameter). The small particle separation lowered down Zn and Pb concentrations of soil to 1256.3 mg/kg (27.9 % decrease) and 325.8 mg/kg (56.3 % decrease). However, the Zn concentration of soil without small particles still was higher than the 2nd SPWL even after the soil washing, suggesting that the additional process is necessary to lower Zn concentration to below the 2nd SPWL after the treatment process. As an alternative process, the magnetic separation process was performed for the soil and 16.4 % of soil mass were removed, because the soil contamination was originated from unreasonable dumping of metal wastes. The Zn and Pb concentrations of soil were lowered down to 637.2 mg/kg (63.4 % decrease) and 139.6 mg/kg (81.5 % decrease) by the magnetic separation, which were much higher than the removal efficiency of the soil washing and the particle separation. The 1st soil washing after the magnetic separation lowered concentration of both TPH and heavy metals to below 2nd SPWL, suggesting that the soil washing conjugated with the magnetic separation can be applied for the heavy metal and TPH contaminated soil including high content of metal wastes.
