A Real-Time Monitoring System Model for Reducing Manufacturing Lead-Time in Numerical Control Process - Focusing on the Marine Engine Block Process - (제조 리드타임 단축을 위한 NC 가공공정에서의 실시간 모니터링 시스템 모형 - 선박용 엔진블록 가공공정을 중심으로 -)

  • This study suggests a model of production information system that can reduce manufacturing lead time and uniformize quality by using DNC S/W as a part of constructing production information management system in the industrial field of the existing marine engine block manufacturing companies. Under the effect of development of this system, the NC machine interface device can be installed in the control computer to obtain the quality information of the workpiece in real time so that the time to inspect the process quality and verify the product defect information can be reduced by more than 70%. In addition, the reliability of quality information has been improved and the external credibility has been improved. It took 30 minutes for operator to obtain, analyze and manage the quality information when the existing USB memory is used, but the communication between the NC controller computer and the NC controller in real time was completed to analyze the workpiece within 10 seconds.

  • Cognitive Radio, which is proposed to improve the efficiency of wireless communication systems is the system to share primary user's frequency bands with a secondary user. In this situation, a secondary user uses NC-OFDM (Non-contiguous Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) to transmit data effectively without interfering with the primary user's spectrum. However, NC-OFDM, in common with contiguous OFDM, degrades the performance of the system by generating high PAPR (Peak-to-Average Power Ratio). In this paper, firstly, we analyse PAPR corresponding to the distribution of subcarriers in NC-OFDM. Then the PAPR reductions that employ the PTS (Partial Transmit Sequence) and SLM (Selective Mapping) are evaluated. Finally, the computational complexities of the PTS and SLM adopting pruned-FFT are compared with conventional PTS and SLM. Further, it is shown that the NC-OFDM with pruned-FFT is more efficient than the contiguous OFDM in terms of computational complexity and PAPR reduction performance.

  • 본 논문에서는 전용의 NC 포스트프로세서를 범용의 NC포스트프로세서로 설계하고 이를 클라우드 컴퓨팅환경에서 기업에 서비스 하는 방법을 제안한다. NC 포스트프로세서를 인터넷 기반의 클라우드 환경으로 이행하는 것은 사용자 인터페이스와 프로세서 엔진이 분리되어 각각이 사용자 PC, 그리고 클라우드 환경에 설치되고, 이 두 모듈 사이를 네트워크로 묶어주는 구조이다. 이러한 구조는 기존의 서버-클라이언트 구조 혹은 데스크탑 가상화 등에 따른 어플리케이션의 네트워크와는 차별화되며, 사용자 인터페이스의 배포 및 이를 운용하기 위한 웹환경의 구축, 그리고 클라우드 컴퓨팅 환경에서의 NC 포스트프로세서 엔진의 운용 등이 플랫폼적으로 통합된 시스템 형태를 갖도록 설계하였다.

  • In this paper, we analyze practical factors to apply the network coding (NC) in the IEEE 802.11s wireless mesh networks. First, we introduce the procedure of the NC in the wireless network. And then we suggest important factors that can cause lower NC gain than theoretical gain. Simulation results show that the NC in wireless networks can reduce the network load but it can cause increased power consumption of wireless nodes. Furthermore, the NC gain can be considerably reduced under the inappropriate network conditions.

  • At present, some evolutional system has been used to promote the efficiency of the DNC(Direct Numerical Control) Controller. However, these are many inconvenience to this operator because it lacks harmony in interaction between the computer and the NC(Numerical Control). Also, there are some controversial poults when data error occurs at the Data Input/output. According1y, this thesis explores a new Data Remote Control System. In this study, the NC Controller of the DNC network has to Bet full data by removing data error in this system. In this system, the main merits are easy manufacturing and the convenience of Data Input/output. That is, remote control of the NC machine tool is possible without mutual interaction between the computer and itself.

  • ISO 14649 (data model for STEP-NC) is a new interface scheme or language for CAD-CAM-CNC chain under established by ISO TC184 SCI. Up to this point, the new language is mainly made for milling and turning, and other processes such as EDM will be completed in the future. Upon completion, it will be used as the international standard language for e-manufacturing paradigm by replacing the old machine-level language, so called M&G code used since 1950's. With the rich information contents included in the new language, various intelligent functions can be made by the CNC as the CNC knows what-to-make and how-to-make. In particular, On-Machine Inspection required for quality assurance in the machine level, can be done based on the information of feature­based tolerance graph. Previously, On-Machine inspection has been investigated mainly for milling operation, and only a few researches were made for turning operation without addressing the data model. In this thesis, we present a feature-based on-machine inspection process by the 4 Tasks: 1) proposing a new schema for STEP-NC data model, 2) converting the conventional tolerance scheme into that of STEP-NC, 3) modifying the tolerance graph such that the tolerance can be effectively measured by the touch probe on the machine, and 4) generating collision-free tool path for actual measurement. Task 1 is required for the incorporation of the presented method in the ISO 14649, whose current version does not much include the detailed schema for tolerance. Based on the presented schema, the tolerance represented in the conventional drafting can be changed to that of STEP-NC (Task 2). A special emphasis was given to Task 3 to make the represented tolerance accurately measurable by the touch probe on the machine even if the part setup is changed. Finally, Task 4 is converting the result of Task into the motion of touch probe. The developed schema and algorithms were illustrated by several examples including that of ISO 14649 Part 12.

  • This paper deals with the design and implementation of an open architecture CNC system for Wire-EDM, with a consideration of the difference between Wire-EDM and NC cutting machines. Recent open architecture controller(OAC) related research results could be applied to directly access Wire-EDM systems at the CNC level. However, previous research about OAC is mostly aimed at NC cutting machines such as milling or lathes, and hence these results are inadequate to apply to Wire-EDM. To close the gap between previous general research on OAC and Wire-EDM specific needs, an open architecture NC model for Wire-EDM composed of a synchronization kernel and a NC functional module is proposed. Based on the control information flow and Wire-EDM specific machining process, the conceptual CNC model and the detailed implementation model for Wire-EDM is suggested.

Interference-Free Tool Approach Directions in Multi-Axis NC Machining of Sculptured Surfaces (자유 곡면의 다축 NC 가공시 간섭 없는 공구 접근 자세 영역)

  • In this paper, an algorithm of computing interference-free tool approach directions(visibility cone) with consideration of tool volume at an arbitrary point of a sculptured surface is developed. The surface is first approximated into a polyhedron with smaller subpatches and the tool approach directions are evenly sampled so as to test accessibility. Then the visibility cone is computed by testing if each approach direction is interfered by other surface subpatches. The results are represented as the binary spherical map which transform geometric information on sphere into aogebraic one. The developed algorithm is implemented and tested by several sculptured surfaces, convincing it can be easily used as a tool for not only interference- free tool approach directions but also determining process planning of multi-axis NC machining of sculp- tured surfaces

  • In this paper, we propose unique CAM system for personal computer that can define the geometric shape in an ease manner and to machine the sculptured surfaces of a mold cavity. In this CAM system, if a user inputs simple initial information such as the control points for a shape definition and a radius of tool etc., all of the procedures for machining will be processed automatically by the CAM system as well as NC commands and simulations. In addition to this, the environment of the CAM system is composed of "C" language for an easy extention of aditional modules. Also, the CAM system with the following characteristics was developed. 1. The optimum tool path satisfying given tolerance limits reduces the time for the high precision machining of sculptured surface in a mold cavity. 2. The generated NC commands can be transmitted to NC directly by the CAM system through RS-232C from PC.C from PC.
