  • Generating NC-code from 3D part model needs a lot of effort to make many decisions, including machining area, tool change data, tool data, cutting condition, etc., by using either manual or computer aided method. This effort can be reduced by integration of automated process planning and NC-code generation. In case of generating NC code with a help of the process planning system, many data mentioned from the process planning can be used. It means that we can create NC-code about a full part. In this study, integration of FAPPS(Feature based Automatic Process Planning) with a NC-code generating module is described and additional data to adapt NC-code for machine shop is discussed.

  • The tool path needs to be determined in an efficient manner to generate the final NC (numerical control) code for efficient machining. This is particularly important in machining free form pockets with an arbitrary wall geometry on a three-axis CNC machine. Many CAD/CAM systems use linear interpolation to generate NC tool paths for curved surfaces. However, this needs to be modified to improve the smoothness of the machined bottom surface, reduce machining time and CL (cutter location) file size. Curved machining can be a solution to reduce these problems. The unified rough and finish cut algerian and the tool motion is graphically simulated. In this paper, a grid based 3D navigation algorithm for generating NC tool path data for both linear interpolation and a combination of linear and circular interpolation for three-axis CNC milling of general pockets with sculptured bottom surfaces is developed.

  • CAD/CAM 시스템의 중요성에 대해서 많은 사람들이 인식하고 있으나, CAD/CAM 시스템의 장비 가격이 비싸고,시스템을 작동시키기 위해 전문인력도 필요하다. 대부분의 CAD/CAM 시스템에서 컴퓨터로는 Workstation을 이용하는 경우가 많아서 CAD/CAM 시스템의 유지 보수에많은 비용을 지출하여야하므로 중소업체에서는 시스템의 도입이 어려운 실정이다. 또한 CAD/CAM 시스템이 주로 외국에서 개발되었기에 모든 작동 명령어나 메시지도 외국어를 사용하고있다. 따라서 외국에서 개발된 CAD/CAM 시스템에 익숙해지는 데는 시간이 걸리며 자신이 사용하는 기능외에 다른 기능을 사용하지 않는 경우가 많다. 본 연구에서는 위의 문제점들을 다소나마 해결하기 위하여 다음과 같이 1) 저렴한 장비비 및 유지비를 위하여 IBM PC 호환기종을 사용하였으며, 2) 사용의 편리성을 위해서 사용자와의 대화에 있어한글과 그래픽을 이용하였고, 3) NC 코드의 생성에 있어 NC 기계에서 제공되는 기능들을 활용하여 NC 코드의 길이를 최소화 하였으며 4) 형상 입력, NC 코드 Download 등이 한 프로그렘에서 이루어 지도록 하였다.

  • In this paper, we develop a six-axes machining center tool(MCT) and CAD/CAM system. The MCT consists of two mechanical parts, i.e., a X-Y-Z Cartesian coordinate typed MCT and a parallel-typed tilting table. Kinematics and singularity are accomplished to design the parallel-typed tilting table, and CAD/CAM system is developed for the six-axes MCT, which requires the commands of position as well as orientation for machining of complex shape. The CAD/CAM system has a tool path generator, a NC code generator and a graphic simulator. This paper designs the parallel-typed tilting table to meet the desired specification and presents the results of tool path, NC code and graphic simulation.

  • In this paper, a practical method for design and machining of cycloid gear was investigated. Based on the proposed method, a systematic program was developed for automatically designing the tooth profiles of epicycloid and hypocycloid gears for the case fo one difference between the number of teeth of cycloid gear and the number coordinates of tooth profiles and pressure angles. The error analysis between cycloid curve and Biarc curve was performed to show the effective method of equidistant partitioning of cycloid curve so that efficient method of Biarc curve fitting was also proposed for the partitioned curve.

  • The process of determining the optimal tool path in PCB(printed circuit board) drilling operations is identical with that of solving a TSP(traveling salesman problem). However, the optimal solution will be ruined when a drill bit needs tracking back in its tool paths. The back tracking occurrences shorten a life of the main spindle and result in inaccurate mechanical movements. In this study, the performances of four heuristics(Nearest Neighbor, Convex Hull, Greatest Angle and Most Eccentric Ellipse) are evaluated to obtain feasible tool paths along with less number of back trackings for a large number of holes(more than 2000holes/bit) and to generate corresponding NC codes for a given CNC drill. Also, the operations of these algorithms are visualized to show a user the graphic image of tool visitation with PCB holes on a computer screen.

  • Joint paths are induced mathematically for many kinds of joint pattern between master- and sub-pipes. By compensating them with root gap of welds and kerf width, real cutting paths are determined. Their NC codes are generated, and the paths generated by NC code are verified by a ghost function. A beveling is implemented through tilting a torch in the A- and B-axis direction for 8 sections in the chuck rotation of C-axis. The effective CAM program was developed specially for 6-axis CNC pipe coasters which cut a master or sub- pipe along the cutting path and simultaneously fulfill a beveling process.

  • 본 논문에서는 다이 플레이트(Die Plate)를 제작할 때 생산성 향상을 위해서 3D CAD/CAM 시스템을 적용하였다. 사용된 3D CAD/CAM 소프트웨어는 UG NX 3.0이며 생성된 NC 코드는 CNC밀링 및 와이어 컷 방전가공기에 전송되어 다이 플레이트를 자동 가공한다.

  • Interactive measuring Part Program Generating Tools (IMPPGT) realized on the FANUC 15MA using touch trigger probes and interactive macro functions of the CNC were developed for intelligent measuring and inspection systems on the machine tools. Machine tools. Menu driven measuring and inspection functions of the IMPPGT were studied and implemented on the CNC through the macro executor and ROM writer. In order to automate measurement and inspection procedures in machine shops, measuring G Code system was also proposed. Using the developed measuring G Code system on the machine tool, untended measurement and inspection operation was able to be realized in FMS lines.

  • This study used the 3D CAD/CAM system in manufacturing die plates to improve productivity. UG NX 3.0 was used as 3D CAD/CAM software, with the created NC code transmitted to the CNC Milling and Wire Cut Electric Discharge machine. The die plate was then automatically machined.
