  • A 5-axis NC milling technology is presented on ruled surface. Problems in 5-axis NC machining are such as tool interference,tool collision and change of tool attitude,etc. The change of tool attitude causes rotation of cutter and variation of feedrate to overcut part surface. This poor control of tool attitude is the primary problem in multi-axis NC milling. This paper observes ruled surface for control of tool attitude. Ruled surface is composed of directrix and ruling, line of constant magnitude. Directrix corresponds to points on part surface and Ruling cutting tool. Trajectory of tool movement corresponds to ruled surface.

  • One of the major limitations of productivity and quality in machining is machining accuracy of the machine tools. The machining accuracy is affected by geometric, volumetric errors of the machine tools. This paper suggests the enhancement method of machining accuracy for precision machining of high quality metal reflection mirror or optics lens, etc. In this paper, we study 1) the compensation of linear pitch error with NC controller compensation function using laser interferometer measurement, 2) the method for enhancing the accuracy of NC milling machining by modeling and compensation of volumetric error, 3) the generation of the parabolic face profile. And the method is verified by the parabolic face machining experiment with a vertical three axes NC milling machine. After this study, we will inspect using On-machine measurement and study the repetitive machining by a compensated path

엔드밀링의 효과적인 절삭력 모델과 NC 검증시스템으로의 응용 (Fast Force Algorithm of End Milling Processes and Its Application to the NC Verification System)

  • This study represents the non-dimensional cutting force model. With the non-dimensional cutting force model it is possible to estimate efficiently the maximum cutting force during one revolution of cutter. Using the non-dimensional cutting force model, the feed rate and spindle speed are adjusted so as to satisfy the maximum cutting force and maximum machining error. To verify the accuracy and efficiency of the non-dimensional cutting force model, a series of experiments were conducted, and experimental results proved and verified the non-dimensional cutting force model. The NC toolpath verification system developed in this paper uses the non-dimensional cutting force model, so that it is effective for calculating the cutting force and adjusting the cutting conditions.

보간 길이 최적화에 의한 5축밀링 가공속도 향상 (Machining Speed Enhancement for 5-Axis Milling by Step Length Optimization)

  • In this paper, an NC data optimization approach for enhancing 5-axis machining speed is presented. It is usual to use expensive commercial CAD/CAM programs for NC data of 5-axis machining, since it needs very large calculations for optimal tool positioning and orientation, tool path planning, and collision-free tool path generation. Since commercial CAD/CAM systems have similar functions and efficiency based on common algorithms of reliable theories, they do not have their own unique features for machining speed and efficiency. In other words, most commercial CAD/CAM systems consider only the characteristics of part geometry to be machined, which means that they generate almost the same NC data if the part to be machined is the same, even though different machines are used for the pin. A new approach is proposed for optimizing NC data of 5-axis machining, which is based on the characteristics of the machine to be operated. As a result, the speed of 5-axis machining can increase without losing machining accuracy and surface quality.

  • 3축 CNC 공작기계상에서 자유형상의 벽을 가진 자유곡면을 가공할 때 최종 NC (Numerical Control) 코드를 만들기 위한 공구 경로는 효율적으로 결정 되어져야 한다. 단일화된 황삭과 정삭 알고리즘 및 공구경로가 이미 그래픽으로 Part 1에서 시뮬레이션 되었다. 본 연구에서는 Part 1에서 보여진 시뮬레이션 결과를 3축 CNC 공작기계를 이용하여 자유곡면 바닥을 가진 일반적인 파켓 밀링을 위한 직선 보간 및 직선+아크를 혼합한 보간을 위한 NC 공구경로 데이터로 만들어서 3D 격자 항행 알고리즘을 실험하였고 그 효용성을 증명하였다.

  • 4축 자유곡면가공에 있어서 공구간섭 문제는 가공형상의 취득성 뿐만 아니라 가공의 정밀도를 위하여 매우 중요한 고려사항이다. 공구의 접근자세가 고정된 3축 밀링가공의 공구 간섭에 관한 기존의 많은 연구가 있지만 이러한 연구는 공구의 접근자세가 변하는 4축 밀링가공에의 적용이 곤란하다. 왜냐하면 곡면의 형상에 따라 공구몸체의 곡면사이의 간섭문제가 부각되며, 이에 따른 공구자세의 창출문제가 해결되어야 하기 때문이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 4축가공에서 발생할 수 있는 공구 간섭을 유형별로 분류, 각 간섭들을 발견하고 해결할 수 있는 방법의 전개와 이 방법을 이용하여 공구경로를 산출하고 그래픽 시뮬레이션과 실제의 시험절삭을 통하여 제시된 방법의 유효성을 검증한다.

XML형식의 STEP-NC파일로 구동되는 PC 기반의 STEP-NC milling machine (PC Based STEP-NC Milling Machine Operated by STEP-NC in XML Format)

  • Most of NC machines are operated by Is06983 standard called G-code, which was developed in the early days of machine tools. This G-code limits hardware performance of the currently developed high-performance hardware & machine tools. By describing only movements of tool, almost all of information of previous production departments is lost, and the machining department cannot exchange information with other departments. For adjusting new hardware environment and direct communication of CNC machines with CAD/CAM software, ISO 14649, STEP -NC is researched. This new standard stores CAD/CAM information as well as operation commands of CNC machines. In this research, the new CNC machine operated by STEP-NC was built and tested. Unlike other STEP-NC milling machines, this system uses the STEP-NC file in form of XML as data input. It makes possible for STEP-NC machines to exchange information to other databases using XML. The mentioned system of this paper loads the XML file, analyzes it, makes tool paths of two5D features with information of STEP-NC, and machines automatically without making G-code. All of software is programmed with Visual C++, and the milling machine is made with table milling machine, step motors, and motion control board for PC that can be directly controlled by C++ commands. All modules of software and hardware were independent, it allows convenient for substitution and expansion of the milling machine. The example 1 in ISP14649-11 that had all information about geometry and machining and the example 2 that has only geometry and tool information were used to test automatic machining by the open-architecture milling machine.

  • 본 논문에서는 Koren의 알고리즘을 밀링에 적용하는 ACCCNC시스템을 제안 CNC 시스템에 AC 시스템을 적용할 때 생기는 변수예측과 또 스텝 및 테이퍼의 두 가지 형 상모델에 대한 변수들의 거동 및 그 때의 생산성을 알아보고 또 이 시스템을 밀링에 적용할 때의 이들 시스템의 적용 가능성을 AC-unit 제어실험(control test)을 통하여 그 타당성을 검토하여 실제 CNC 시스템에 AC 시스템을 적용할 수 있도록 하는 ACC-CNC 시스템의 설계기준을 설정하여 시스템의 최적설계의 기초적인 자료를 얻고자 한다.

  • Die Factory follows typical order adaptive manufacturing, and delaying delivery affects directly product development of customer, Manufacturing Management System is tried to comply with the appointed date of delivery. It acquires running signal from NC milling, calculates manufacturing results, and offers the basic data to manage the operation ratio. Thus it offers Production data necessary to accomplish the objective of progress improvement for Unmanned Manufacturing. Manufacturing Management System runs on Web Environment, and is composed of electronic work order, operation ratio data acquisition and totaling module.

옥트리를 이용한 황삭 가공경로생성 (Tool Path Generation for Rough Cutting Using Octree)

  • Rouge cutting process takes the major portion of machining operation using NC milling machine. Especially, most of the machining time is spent in this process when molds are machined. Therefore, an efficient algorithm for generating the tool path for rough cutting is suggested in this paper. The first step of the procedure is getting the volume to be machined by applying the Boolean operation on the finished model and the workpiece which have been modeling system. Basic principle of determining machining procedure is that a large tool should be used at the portion of the simple shape while a small tool should be used at the complex portion. This principle is realized by representing the volume to be machined by an octree, which is basically a set of hexahedrons, and matching the proper tools with the given octants. When the tools are matched with the octants, the tool path can be derived at the same time.
