  • The \gamma-ray spectrometer of the PGAA (Prompt Gamma Activation Analysis) facility constructed at HANARO of the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute was upgraded to the multi-mode spectrometer including the single mode, the Compton suppression mode and the pair mode. The performance of the spectrometer was tested and summarized. The background count rate and the uncertainty of the detection efficiency were reduced greatly in comparison with those before the new installation.

  • Taxonomic review of the five flyingfishes, Parexocoetus mento (Valenciennes), Cheilopogon agoo (Temminck et Schlegel), Cheilopogon heterurus doederleini (Steindachner), Cheilopogon cyanopterus (Valenciennes), Hirundichthys oxycephalus (Bleeker) were carried out based on samples collected from the South sea and around sea of Jeju Island of Korea from 1996 to 1998. Parexocoetus mento (Valenciennes) and Cheilopogon cyanopterus (Valenciennes) were revealed as the unrecorded species in Korea, which were named as "Men-to-hwang-nal-chi" and "Ki-geom-nal-chi" respectively. Parexocoetus mento is differed from P. barchypterus in having no chin barbels in juveniles, and Cheilopogon cyanopterus is distinguished from C. agoo in the branched form of pectoral fin rays and from C. heterurus doederleini in the numbers of the dorsal fin ray and the color of pectoral fins.

  • Currently, Scalable Video Coding (SVC) is being standardized. By using scalability of SVC, QoS managed video streaming service is enabled in heterogeneous networks even with only one original bitstream. But current SVC is insufficient to dynamic video conversion for the scalability, thereby the adaptation of bitrate to meet a fluctuating network condition is limited. In this paper, we propose dynamic full-scalability conversion method for QoS adaptive video streaming in H.264/AVC SVC. To accomplish full scalability dynamic conversion, we propose corresponding bitstream extraction, encoding and decoding schemes. On the encoder, we newly insert the IDR NAL to solve the problems of spatial scalability conversion. On the extractor, we analyze the SVC bitstream to get the information which enable dynamic extraction. By using this information, real time extraction is achieved. Finally, we develop the decoder so that it can manage changing bitrate to support real time full-scalability. The experimental results showed that dynamic full-scalability conversion was verified and it was necessary for time varying network condition.

  • Cyclodextrin glucanotransferase (CGTase) produced by Bacillus subtilis NAl/pKBl was used for the production of cyclodextrin (CD). The enzyme was purified by ion exchange and gel filtration chromatography. The purified enzyme exhibited its maximum activity in the pH range of 6.0 to 7.0 and temperature range of 60 to $70^{\circ}C$. Immobilization of purified CGTase was carried out with various immobilization matrices. Amberlite IRA-900, a strong basic anion exchange resin, showed the highest immobilization ability (38 units per gram resin). Optimal pH and temperature for enzymatic reaction of the immobilized CGTase were pH 6.0 and 60t. The activity of immobilized CGTase maintained more than a month and could be reused for a month in a continuous enzyme reactor for the production of CD.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm to automatically generate an RTP timestamp value that is required for the RTP packetization in order to transmit SVC video over various If networks such as Internet. Unlike the conventional single layer coding algorithms such as H.263, MPEG-4 and H.264, SVC generates a multi-layered single bitstream which is composed of a base layer and one or more enhancement layers in order to simultaneously provide temporal, spatial, and SNR scalability. Especially, in order to provide temporal scalability based on hierarchical B-picture prediction structure, the encoding (or transmission) and display order of pictures in SVC coding is completely decoupled. Thus, the timestamp value to be specified at the header of each RTP packet in video transmission does not increase monotonically according to the display time instant of each picture. Until now, no method for automatically generating an RTP timestamp when SVC video is loaded in a RTP packet has teen introduced. In this paper, a novel automatic RTP timestamp generation method exploiting the TID (temporal ID) field of the SVC NAL unit header is proposed to accommodate the SVC video transmission.

  • In this paper, we introduce our smart phone application for hearing impaired people. Unlike previous hearing aids application, our application has both functions of self hearing tests and sound amplification. We provide user with two types of self hearing test, those are standard hearing test and detail hearing test. Each test has different advantages like short test time and accurate test result, however both tests provide reliable result. Our hearing test allows that user can measure their hearing loss level according to the frequency. Sound amplification function provide proper fitting formula by using NAL-NL1, and it guarantees high speech intelligibility. Our application can also memorize user's fitting data at specific test condition. Therefore those who using our hearing aids application can easily reset their hearing aids / earphone properties periodically. Our application is advanced at the aspect of self fitting function that no other previous application did. So we are expecting these comfortable processes about fitting lead the number of hearing aids user to be increased.

  • The purpose of this study was to design a PCSI model that can be applicable to measurement of library user satisfactions, which can be used in evaluating organizational performance. The National Assembly Library (NAL) was selected as a case to design a PCSI-based model and to test the model by conducting a self-administered survey of 341 internal and external library users. The model was validated to have a satisfactory model fit. Fitting the model, the study confirms that the service qualities of the NAL affect user satisfactions, which in turn affects organizational performances. The PCSI score of the library was 80.4, which can be used as a useful index that can compare the library's performance with other organizations in the similar public domain. Major contributions of this study are two-fold: the PCSI-based model proposed in this study provides a theoretical basis that assesses organizational performance of libraries via user satisfaction; and libraries can utilize the model as a management tool to assess the organizational performance from the user perspective.
