$Zn(BH_4)_2$ was prepared by milling $ZnCl_2$ and $NaBH_4$ in a planetary ball mill in an Ar atmosphere, and XRD analysis, SEM observation, FT-IR analysis, DTA, and TGA were performed for synthesized $Zn(BH_4)_2$ samples. 90 wt% $MgH_2$+1.67 wt% $Zn(BH_4)_2(+NaCl)$+5 wt% Ni+1.67 wt% Ti+1.67 wt% Fe (named $90MgH_2+1.67Zn(BH_4)_2(+NaCl)$+5Ni+1.67Ti+1.67Fe) samples were also prepared by milling in a planetary ball mill in an $H_2$ atmosphere. The gas absorption and release properties of the $Zn(BH_4)_2(+NaCl)$ and $90MgH_2+1.67Zn(BH_4)_2(+NaCl)_2(+NaCl)$+5Ni+1.67Ti+1.67Fe samples were investigated. An FT-IR analysis showed that $Zn(BH_4)_2$ formed in the $Zn(BH_4)_2(+NaCl)$ samples prepared by milling $ZnCl_2$ and $NaBH_4$. At the first cycle at $320^{\circ}C$, $90MgH_2+1.67Zn(BH_4)_2(+NaCl)$+5Ni+1.67Ti+1.67Fe absorbed 2.95 wt% H for 2.5 min and 4.93 wt% H for 60 min under 12 bar $H_2$, and released 1.46 wt% H for 10 min and 4.57 wt% H for 60 min under 1.0 bar $H_2$.
The present study investigated the ageing effect on compressibility, permeability and shear strength behavior of kaolin and bentonite samples in the presence of NaCl and CaCl2 solutions. The compressibility, permeability and shear strength parameters were determined on the 60, 190, and 250 days cured samples. The results have shown that, the kaolin sample becomes more compressible in the presence Ca2+ ions with ageing. Generally, the normalized compression index values of bentonite samples increased at the end of 60 days and 250 days curing time periods. The normalized permeability value of kaolin decreased by ageing in the presence of Na+ ions almost twofold. The permeability values of bentonite increased both in NaCl and CaCl2 solutions during ageing. In the presence of Na+ ions kaolin had higher max. shear stress value than Ca2+ ions. When the max. shear stress values of 0, 60 and 190 days samples were compared, it was seen that NaCl solution had no significant effect on the shear strength of kaolin sample. However, the shear strength of kaolin increased in the CaCl2 solution during ageing. In the presence of Ca2+ ions the max. shear stress value of bentonite was higher. The results of this study have shown that ageing has significant effects on the compressibility, permeability and shear strength of kaolinitic and bentonitic clayey soils.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the color stability of composite resins used for splinting teeth by comparing a self-cure resin cement (Superbond C&B, SB), a flowable composite resin (G-aenial Universal Flo A2, GU), and a composite resin exclusively used for splinting teeth (G-Fix, GF) before and after aging in NaOCl. Methods: Resin samples were fabricated to a size of 2 mm thickness and 8.5 mm diameter and light-cured with an LED light curing unit (G-Light, n = 12). Immediately after fabrication, CIE L*a*b* values of the resin samples were measured with a spectrophotometer (CM-5) as baseline. Then, the resin samples were immersed in 5% NaOCl at $60^{\circ}C$ and the color was measured after 23 hours every day for 4 days. Data were analyzed with one-way ANOVA followed by Duncan post hoc test (p<0.05), and color differences (${\Delta}E$) of resin samples before and after NaOCl aging were also calculated. Results: For SB, there were no changes in L* and a* values but changes were observed in b* values. For GU, there were no changes in L* and b* values but in a* values. For GF, changes were observed in L*, a*, and b* values. All resin samples showed highest ${\Delta}E$ between baseline and the 1st day of NaOCl immersion. ${\Delta}E$ of SB, GU, and GF was 4.6 - 5.8, 4.9 - 7.9, and 9.9 - 16.9, respectively. GF showed highest color change during NaOCl aging. Conclusion: The results of this color quality evaluation showed that the composite resin exclusively used for splinting teeth might be more vulnerable to color change during intraoral service.

The highest of fresh samples was Shoe Bl Rum and the lowest was J ip Sean Na Mul. The largest of cooked samples was So Ru Jaeng Yi and the lowest was a Jlp Seu Na Mul.
Even though Ti-6Al-4V has gained popularity as an implant material, the possible dissolution of Al and V ions in body fluids remains a matter of concern. Though commercially pure Ti (Cp-Ti) overcomes this problem, the mechanical strength of pure titanium remains very low. Thus, in this experiment Cp-Ti was processed by Equal channel angular processing (ECAP), in order to increase the mechanical strength. The biocompatibility of ECAP-Ti, Cp-Ti and Ti-6Al-4V was examined by the apatite formation on each sample surface, after treating the surface with 5M NaOH and soaking in Simulated body fluids (SBF). Initially, the samples were mechanically polished on silicone carbide paper (#2000). The polished samples were treated with 5M NaOH solution at $60^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours. The NaOH treated samples were washed gently with distill water and dried at $40^{\circ}C$ for 1 day. The dried samples were heat treated in air at $600^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour. The surface morphology of these samples were studied using SEM and XRD. The SEM studies showed network of pores in all samples. The XRD showed oxide layer formation on Cp-Ti and Ti-6Al-4V. samples. However the oxide layer in ECAP-Ti was not substantial. These samples were immersed in SBF, kept at $36.5^{\circ}C$ for seven days period. At the end of 7 days, the apatite formation was confirmed only on Cp-Ti and was not observed in Ti-6Al-4V and ECAP-Ti. These observations of apatite formation relate to the fact that Cp-Ti showed greater oxide layer than other samples. The apatite examined was confirmed as tricalcium phosphate (TCP) using EDS and XRD.
Zeolitic material, Z-Y3, was synthesized from coal fly ash (CFA) under low-alkaline conditions (NaOH/CFA ratio = 0.3 and NaOH solution concentrations of 0.0, 0.5, and 1.0 M) using a fusion/hydrothermal method. The adsorption capacities of the fabricated Z-Y3 samples for Cs and Sr ions and the desorption capacity of Na ions were evaluated. The XRD patterns of the Z-Y3 sample fabricated using a 1.0 M NaOH solution (Z-Y3 (1.0 M)) indicated the successful synthesis of a zeolitic material, because the diffraction peaks of Z-Y3 coincided with those of the Na-A zeolite in the 2θ range of 7.18-34.18. Moreover, the SEM images revealed that morphology of the Z-Y3 (1.0 M) sample, which presented zeolitic materials characteristics, consisted of sharp-edged cubes. The adsorption isotherms of Cs and Sr ions on all the fabricated Z-Y3 samples were described using the Langmuir model, and the maximum adsorption capacities of Cs and Sr were calculated to be 0.14-0.94 mmol/g and 0.19-0.78 mmol/g, respectively. The desorption of Na ions from the Cs and Sr ions adsorbed Z-Y3 samples followed the Langmuir desorption model. The maximum desorption capacities of Na ions from the Cs and Sr ions adsorbed Z-Y3 (1.0 M) samples were 1.28 and 1.49 mmol/g, respectively.
In this report, we present the results of a study on the effects of the particle size on the properties of the Prussian blue (PB) analog $Na_xMn_y[Fe(CN){_6}]$. A novel synthesis method of the $Na_xMn_y[Fe(CN){_6}]$ nano-particles using an organic solvent, formamide, is employed. The size of the PB particles is found to be 100-150 nm for the samples prepared in the formamide solvent, which is much smaller than that of the samples prepared using water only. The broadening of the X-ray diffraction peaks of the nano-sized PB samples is attributed to the lattice disorder and a dramatic reduction in the particle size. The compositions of the samples are confirmed by an energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX), and the result proves that the samples are actually $Na_xMn_y[Fe(CN){_6}]$ Prussian blue. The UV-vis spectra show a broad intervalence charge-transfer (CT) band in the visible region between 400 and 700 nm, and the absorption decreases abruptly in the green region for the nano-sized PB sample. A divergence between the field cooled (FC) and zero field cooled (ZFC) magnetization curves is observed for the nano-sized PB sample at 11 K, indicating that nanoparticles in the sample are single domain superparamagnets with a blocking temperature of 11 K. Our results reveal that the nano-sized PB samples show significantly different optical and magnetic properties than those of the bulk PB samples.
A kind of mineral water obtained from the basing of deep under the sea was reported to have a characteristic mineral composition and its effect on the quality of Kimchi was evaluated in this study. Kimchi samples were prepared with NaCl and the mineral water under rock floor as sources of salt together with fermented seafoods and fermented at 20 for 6 days. The qualities of Kimchi were evaluated by analyzing the pH, acidity, number of viable cell, lactic acid bacteria, sensory properties and texture profiles during fermentation. The pH and total acid contents were not different among Kimchi samples. The microbiological changes were not observed in the samples. The sensory scores of Kimchi containing NaCI and fermented sandlance sauce, and of Kimchi containing the mineral water under sea rock floor with fermented seafoods were significantly higher than those of the others. On the other hand, Kimchis prepared with NaCl alone or mineral water under sea rock floor alone earned the lowest sensory scores among the tested samples with an exception of firmness of the sample made with the mineral water. As the Kimchi fermentation proceeds, the hardness value of Kimchi prepared with the mineral water became higher than that of Kimchi with NaCl. This study suggests that the mineral water under sea rock floor could be useful to keep the texture of Kimchi firm during the fermentation.
We construct the empirical Bayes (EB)estimation of the parameter in two-side truncated distribution families with asymmetric Linex loss using negatively associated (NA) samples. The asymptotical optimality and convergence rate of the EB estimation is obtained. We will show that the convergence rate can be arbitrarily close to $O(n^{-q}),\;q\;=\;{\lambda}s(\delta\;-\;2)/\delta(s\;+\;2)$.
This study evaluated the effects of NaCl on heat resistance and Caco-2 cell invasion of Listeria monocytogenes in broth media and sausage. A 10-strain mixture of L. monocytogenes was inoculated in tryptic soy broth containing 0.6% yeast extract (TSBYE), and sausage formulated with 0, 2, 4, and 6% NaCl. The medium was stored at 7, 15, 20, and $25^{\circ}C$ for 3-16 d, and medium samples were withdrawn at the appropriate time and challenged to 55, 60, and $63^{\circ}C$ to evaluate the thermal resistance of the pathogen. Sausage samples were stored at 7 and $25^{\circ}C$, and they were exposed to $63^{\circ}C$ to evaluate thermal resistance. NaCl-habituated L. monocytogenes strains NCCP10811 and NCCP10943 were examined for 12 antibiotics and Caco-2 cell invasion assay (only L. monocytogenes NCCP10943). Bacterial populations of L. monocytogenes generally increased (p<0.05) during the heat challenge as NaCl concentrations increased in both TSBYE and sausage samples. The antibiotic resistance of L. monocytogenes was not observed ($p{\geq}0.05$) when it was exposed to a single concentration of NaCl in TSBYE, but the pathogen obtained resistance to some antibiotics when exposed to a sequential increase of NaCl concentration. Invasion efficiency of L. monocytogenes NCCP10943 was not increased ($p{\geq}0.05$) with NaCl concentration increase. These results indicate that NaCl may increase the resistance of L. monocytogenes to heat and to some antibiotics, but may not increase Caco-2 cell invasion of L. monocytogenes.
