Comparative molecular field analyses(CoMFA) on the growth inhibition activity of N-phenyl-3,4,5,6-tetrahydrophthalimide and N-phenyl-3,4-dimethylmaleimide Derivatives (N-치환 phenyl-3,4,5,6-tetrahydrophthalimide와 N-치환 phenyl-3,4-dimethylmaleimide 유도체의 생장 저해활성에 관한 l 분자장 분석 (CoMFA))

  • We discuss that the growth inhibition activities against root and shoot of rice plant (Oryza sativa L.) and barnyard grass (Echinochloa crus-galli) by N-phenyl-3,4,5,6-tetrahydrophthalimide (A) and N-phenyl-3,4-dimethylmaleimide (B) derivatives with changing substituents can be explained and predicted using comparative molecular field analyses (CoMPA) method. And the results show that the cross-validation value, $q^2$ at three components and Pearson correlation coefficient, $r^2$ were rice plant: shoot; $r^2=0.987$, $q^2=0.387$ & root; $r^2=0.923$, $q^2=0.307$ and barnyard grass: shoot; $r^2=0.902$, $q^2=0.535$ & root; $r^2=0.900$, $q^2=0.450$, respectively. In addition, The activities of unknown compounds were predicted by CoMFA method. From the contour map of (A) derivatives, the selective factors to remove barnyard grass takes positive charge on the benzylic carbon atom (C27), negative charged carbon atom (C29) of meta position and steric bulky groups on the cyclic imino ring (C7-C8).

  • Solution copolymerization of Styrene(St) and n-Butylmethacrylate(BMA) was carried out with Benzoylperoxide (BPO) as an initiator in toluene at $80^{\circ}C$ in a continuous stirred tank reactor. Reaction volume and residence time were 0.6 liters, 3 hours respectively. The monomer reactivity ratios, $r_1$(St) and $r_2$(BMA) were determined by both the Kelen-Tlidos method and the Fineman-Ross method ; $r_1$=0.75(0.67), $r_2$=0.61(0.56). The cross-termination factor, $\phi$ factor of the copolymer over the entire St compositions ranged from 0.44 to 0.78. The $\phi$ factors of St-BMA copolymer increased with increasing St compositions. Our present system showed that the continuous copolymerization of St with BMA followed second-order kinetic behavior. The simulated conversions and copolymerization rates were compared with the experimental results. The average time to reach dynamic steady-state was three times and half of the residence time.

  • The times of multiplication for encryption and decryption of cryptosystem is primarily determined by implementation efficiency of the modular exponentiation of $a^b$(mod m). The most frequently used among standard modular exponentiation methods is a standard binary method, of which n-ary($2{\leq}n{\leq}6$) is most popular. The n-ary($1{\leq}n{\leq}6$) is a square-and-multiply method which partitions $b=b_kb_{k-1}{\cdots}b_1b_{0(2)}$ into n fixed bits from right to left and squares n times and multiplies bit values. This paper proposes a variable-length partition algorithm that partitions $b_{k-1}{\cdots}b_1b_{0(2)}$ from left to right. The proposed algorithm has proved to reduce the multiplication frequency of the fixed-length partition n-ary method.

Ohmic Contact Properties of Nonpolar GaN Grown on r-plane Sapphire Substrate with Different Miscut Angle

  • The properties of Ni/Au Ohmic contacts formed on nonpolar a-plane GaN grown on r-plane sapphire substrate with different tilt angles are investigated using current-voltage (I-V) measurements. To investigate the effects of pattern direction and size on Ohmic contact properties of a-plane GaN, transmission line method (TLM) patterns are formed either along c-axis and m-axis on nonpolar GaN surface with different size. I-V measurement results show that the size of TLM pattern and formation direction of electrode have an effect on the electrical properties of a-plane GaN. The large sized patterns show the relatively lower sheet resistance compared to the small sized patterns. In addition, the sheet resistance of a-plane GaN along m-axis shows lower values than that along the c-axis. Finally, the effects of miscut angle of r-sapphire substrate ($0.2^{\circ}$, 0.4oand $0.6^{\circ}$) on electrical properties of a-plane GaN will be discussed.

  • The montane forests of Ulreung Island, Korea, were investigated by the ZM school method. By comparing the montane forests of this island with those of Korean Peninsula and of Japan, a new order, F a g e t a l i a m u l t i n e r v i s, a new alliance, F a l g i o n m u l t i n e r v i s, a new association, H e p a t i c o-F a g e t u m m u l t i n e r v i s and Rhododendron brachycarpum-Pinus parviflora community were recognized. The H e p a t i c o - F a g e t u m m u l t i n e r v i s was further subdivided into four subassociations; Subass. of Sasa kurilensis, Subass. of Rumohra standishii, Subass. of Rhododendron brachycarpum and Subass. of typicum. Each community was described in terms of floristic, structural and environmental features.

  • The hyperfine integrals for 4d orbitals have been evaluated adopting a general method which is applicable to a general vector, R, pointing arbitrary direction in space. The operator and the spherical harmonic part of 4d orbitals are expressed in terms of R and r$_{N}$ and the exponential part, r$^{2}$exp(-2${\beta}$r), of 4d orbitals is also translated as a function of R and r$_{N}$ and then integration is performed. The radial integrals for 4d orbitals are tabulated in analytical forms. The hyperfine integrals for 4d orbitals are also represented in analytical forms, using the specific formulas of radial series which we found.

  • We investigated the visual analysis of the far distance phoria for 83 subjects who have emmetropia or myopia eyes, using the graphic method, and determined new norms. We got the following results from these experiments. 1. The measured norm of far distance phoria is $1.12{\Delta}$, exophoria, the that of near distance phoria is $0.50{\Delta}$, exophoria, the that of negative relative convergence at far distance(N.R.C.) is ${\times}$/11/5, the that of positive relative convergence at far distance(P.R.C.) is 10/20/8, the that negative relative convergence at near distance(N.R.C.) is 11/21/5, the that of positive relative convergence at near(P.R.C.) is 10/20/8, the that of negative relative accommodation(N.R.A.) is +2.54D, and the that of positive relative accommodation(P.R.A.) is -2.60D, respectively. We know from theses results that the measured norms of far distancet phoria is higher than Morgan's norms, while those of near distance phoria are lower than Morgan's norms. 2. We also know from these experiments that Morgan's norms are closely related to A, B, and C groups and Morgan's criterion can more usefully apply to the visual analysis. 3. In Sheard's criterion and Percival's criterion, the prism prescription is occurred when the exophoria of the far-point phoria is over $7{\sim}9{\Delta}$, and the esophoria of that is over $4{\sim}6{\Delta}$.

  • The development of excellent high-energy materials has progressed in the direction of synthesizing compounds with high nitrogen content, ultimately oriented toward the form of polynitrogen. As cyclo-N5-, a type of polynitrogen, is synthesized as sodium pentazolate(NaN5) and the results of various metal and non-metal compounds have been studied, the usage of polynitrogen compounds is attracting attention. However, since the known synthesis and purification method of NaN5 are very extreme and complicated, it is essential to improve the process in order to increase the utility of the pentazolate compounds in the future. In this study, only a simple filtration method was applied to purify the NaN5, and based on this, two non-metal pentazolate salt compounds were successfully synthesized.

A Refined Method for Quantification of Myocardial Blood Flow using N-13 Ammonia and Dynamic PET (N-13 암모니아와 양전자방출단층촬영 동적영상을 이용하여 심근혈류량을 정량화하는 새로운 방법 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Regional myocardial blood flow (rMBF) can be noninvasively quantified using N-13 ammonia and dynamic positron emission tomography (PET). The quantitative accuracy of the rMBF values, however, is affected by the distortion of myocardial PET images caused by finite PET image resolution and cardiac motion. Although different methods have been developed to correct the distortion typically classified as partial volume effect and spillover, the methods are too complex to employ in a routine clinical environment. We have developed a refined method incorporating a geometric model of the volume representation of a region-of-interest (ROI) into the two-compartment N-13 ammonia model. In the refined model, partial volume effect and spillover are conveniently corrected by an additional parameter in the mathematical model. To examine the accuracy of this approach, studies were performed in 9 coronary artery disease patients. Dynamic transaxial images (16 frames) were acquired with a GE $Advance^{TM}$ PET scanner simultaneous with intravenous injection of 20 mCi N-13 ammonia. rMBF was examined at rest and during pharmacologically (dipyridamole) induced coronary hyperemia. Three sectorial myocardium (septum, anterior wall and lateral wall) and blood pool time-activity curves were generated using dynamic images from manually drawn ROIs. The accuracy of rMBF values estimated by the refined method was examined by comparing to the values estimated using the conventional two-compartment model without partial volume effect correction rMBF values obtained by the refined method linearly correlated with rMBF values obtained by the conventional method (108 myocardial segments, correlation coefficient (r)=0.88). Additionally, underestimated rMBF values by the conventional method due to partial volume effect were corrected by theoretically predicted amount in the refined method (slope(m)=1.57). Spillover fraction estimated by the two methods agreed well (r=1.00, m=0.98). In conclusion, accurate rMBF values can be efficiently quantified by the refined method incorporating myocardium geometric information into the two-compartment model using N-13 ammonia and PET.

  • Though L $a_{1+x}$S $r_{2-x}$M $n_2$ $O_{7}$ n=2 R-P phases have been well known to have CMR effect, it was generally believed that n=1 phase was insulating. But recently monolayered perovskite $Ca_{2-x}$L $n_{x}$Mn $O_4$phase has been reported to show magnetoresistance. In this study, layered perovskite $Ca_{2-x}$L $n_{x}$Mn $O_4$ (x=0, 0.5, Ln=Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd) phases were synthesized by solid state reaction and their structures were refined by Rietveld method. The space groups of $Ca_2$Mn $O_4$, N $d_{0.5}$C $a_{1.5}$Mn $O_4$phases were refined as C2cb and Fmmm, respectively.y.ely.y.y.y.y.y.y.
