It is clear that there is growing interest in effective operations of music streaming services. In this study, we examine the impact of customization and network effect on service quality and customer loyalty. We collect survey data and analyze relationships between latent variables using structural equations modeling. We find that customization and network effect of music streaming services positively affect service quality. However, the effect of customization on customer loyalty is not significant and there is a negative effect of network effect on customer loyalty. Finally, we find that service quality works as a mediator between customization and customer loyalty, and service quality also works as a mediator between network effect and customer loyalty.

  • Idol music, which began to gain huge popularity in the domestic music market in the mid-1990s, has become one of the major global contents thanks to the global popularity of K-POP. As a result, the Korean music market continues to grow, forming the world's sixth-largest music market, and domestic music agencies are focusing more on fostering idol groups and producing idol music. The global success of idol music is surprising, but this has resulted in the domestic music market being biased toward idol music. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that there are several problems with the phenomenon of being biased toward similar types of musicians and music content. First, just as trend-oriented cultural contents face the problem of life expectancy all the time, the "Korean Wave" is also forced to think in terms of identity and sustainability. Second, it was observed that only consumers of a certain age may cause cultural alienation of other age groups, and thirdly, various problems such as shrinking creative paths due to the size of the cost required for idol group production and the lifespan of idol musicians' art activities. This paper derives the reality of the domestic idol bias phenomenon through comparative analysis of the English-American music market and the domestic music market, which have had a profound influence on the global music market in popular music history, and verified the theory and results through an expert survey using the Likert scale. In addition, the problems caused by the idol bias phenomenon were considered based on the theory of cultural diversity, and improvement directions were also suggested to solve this problem.

  • The aim of this study was to examine the experiences of music therapists in using their voice clinically. The researcher conducted in-depth interviews with seven music therapists who were able to explain their experiences in using voice. Each interview was analyzed using the phenomenological method of Amedeo Giorgi. The data analysis yielded 9 sub-categories and 6 components: "promotion of various feelings due to clinical use of voice", "voice use depending on the therapist's personality", "voice use for therapy", "positive musical experiences with clients in using voice", "difficulty in using voice as a tool for music therapy", and "attempt to change unsatisfactory voice". The result showed that the music therapists had both positive and difficult experiences with their clients in using their voice. Their instances of perceived unsatisfactory voice prompted them to develop themselves personally and professionally. This study is intended to provide a general understanding of voice use by music therapists and offer a solid basis for music therapists to study voice in the future.

  • As a result of growth of digital music market in Korea, Creator's rights and interests have been at the heart of the debate in terms of legal system. In the music industry, digital music revenue has now overtaken records sales and compared to download service it is now clear that music streaming and subscription is mainstream model in the rise of the worldwide market of digital music. This trend is also indentical to the domestic and withholding regulations for music service and creator's rights and interests have become an ever growing issue. Ministry of Culture, Sports ad Tourism decided the revision of withholding regulations for the digital music service in 2013. The amendment is to change its policy of charging music service from the flat rate pricing to a usage-based system. This paper brought forward some disputable points such as fair division of profit, reasonable pricing for consumers etc. about the revision. Therefore, improvement of system and change in the perception of such copyrights are still required for both the encouragement of creator's activities and the high consumer satisfaction.

  • The present study examines whether consumers' perception of waiting time and their behavioral intentions are influenced by the presence of background music in an online shopping environment. In particular, this study aims to explain the underlying mechanism for the effects of background music on consumers' perceived wait and behavioral intentions toward the online retailer by proposing the mediating role of emotions drawing on the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) framework. A lab experiment was employed to test the hypotheses. A total of 102 college students were used for data analyses. Results show that the presence of music has a significant impact on participants' emotions, perceived waiting time, and approach behavior. Moreover, the findings show that pleasure and the perceived waiting time serve as mediators in the relationship between the presence of music and approach behavior. Implications of the model for theory, practice, and further research are discussed.

  • This study examines how Latinidad can be reclaimed as a site for exploring affinities of Latinos in Latin music industry, especially from the 90s. By looking at sites where Latinidad is constituted, such as the case of Jennifer $L{\acute{o}}pez$ becoming Selena, it intends to suggest that the concept can be deployed as a political bridge to connect latinos. And by examining Cuban-American artists' self identification in Latin Grammy Awards, it reveals that the latin music business definitions of Latinidad is coded differently for them as 'Caribbean' to erase a natural resonance of Cuba. In addition, by dealing with Shakira's somewhat contradictory representation of Colombianidad, the study argues that Latinidad serves as a social construct and newly emerges as a convenient interstitial place between the Latin American and the US Latino. Shakira's case serves to show how the transnational trends of latin music contribute to create a simultaneous sense of Latinidad and Colombianidad. Focusing on the commercial significance of understanding of what latino is or should be, this paper aims to interrogate current understandings of Latinidad in the realm of latin music and popular culture.

  • In the past, musicians followed strict patterns written by composers when playing classical music. However, since the development of postmodernism, which puts an emphasis on unique individualities and various ways of thinking, following the strict patterns of classical music unquestioningly became less significant. Classical music was thought to be difficult to follow and enjoy for most people. Thus, musicians have found ways to keep the dignity of classical music but added familiarity in order to popularize arias in operas. They created classical crossover music and this type of music enabled people to enjoy easy access to classical music. However, not many studies focus on arrangement methods of changing classical music into crossover music. The goal of this study is to research on arrangement methods of crossover music based on the findings from precedent researches on operas. This study focused on analyzing musical structure including chords, rhythms and compositions of musical instruments. According to the analysis, original classical songs and popera, which is a type of crossover music, share similarities in terms of rhythms and chords. However, there are differences when it comes to compositions of musical instruments. In case of a jazz version, it uses AfroCuban rhythm as well as Bolero rhythm which is a part of ballad and jazz acoustic instruments are mainly used. Also, in order to reduce the feeling of classical music and to differentiate the jazz version from the original version, a lot of tension is used in voicing. This study can be helpful for any researches related to arrangements of classical crossover music.

  • This study examines the development and limitations of current artificial intelligence (AI) music composition programs. AI music composition programs have progressed significantly owing to deep learning technology. However, they possess limitations pertaining to the creative aspects of music. In this study, we collect, compare, and analyze information on existing AI-based music composition programs and explore their technical orientation, musical concept, and drawbacks to delineate future directions for AI music composition programs. Furthermore, this study emphasizes the importance of developing AI music composition programs that create "personalized" music, aligning with the era of personalization. Ultimately, for AI-based composition programs, it is critical to extensively research how music, as an output, can touch the listeners and implement appropriate changes. By doing so, AI-based music composition programs are expected to form a new structure in and advance the music industry.
