Study Case on the Log Cultivation of Phellinus baumii for It's High Quality and Large Quantity (고품질 다수확 원목 상황버섯 재배 경영사례 조사)

  • High temperature and natural sun light are considered as the core conditions for high quality and large quantity of Phellinus baumii production. However still now on there has been a mistake of excessively cutting off the natural light by spreading the closing nets on the mushroom cultivating house. For an example there are many houses where the closing nets under the roofs be extended to cover the sides of the houses, which way prevents the mushrooms in the houses from receiving sufficient natural sun light and getting the temperature sufficiently to grow so that the quantity and quality of the produced mushrooms are lowered even though the mushrooms can grow in those conditions. In order to avoid this mistake, the closing nets must be placed on the roofs of the houses only without dropping them to cover the sides. Further more when the closing nets are placed triply at the beginning stage of Phellinus baumii's growth in the house, the nets restrain the internal temperature of the house going up and intercept the natural bright light flowing into the house so that the growing tardiness occur to the Phellinus baumii. Therefore the roof only must have been covered by the closing net for 65% cutting off the light until May, and then covered by double folded the net for June, triple folded the net for July and August, double folded the net for September, and the single net for October. When the ventilation in the house has been maintained until the house tightly balloon out through controling lifting force of internal air, the Phellinus baumii can grow well while the bed logs themselves aren't dried out. Marketing is also very much important as well as increasing quality and quantity of Phellinus baumii production.

Studies on the Bulk Pasteurization System for Composting and Spawn Running of the Cultivated Mushroom, Agaricus bisporus (Lange) Sing (양송이 합성배지(合成培地) 제조(製造) 및 균배양(菌培養)을 위한 Bulk Pasteurization System에 관한 연구(硏究))

  • These studies were conducted to evaluate the bulk pasteurization system in comparison with the conventional mushroom growing technique of and to establish the phase II fermentation method for the system. The results obtained were as follows. 1. From the mushroom compost peak-heated in the bulk pasteurization system higher mushroom yield was obtained than that of the conventional method. 2. The compost fermented in the bulk pasteurization system showed poor mycelial growth and low crop. It was caused by the imperfect blower and its operation, not by ununiform moisture content of the compost and ununiform filling. 3. A bulk pasteurization system which modified the mushroom house was not proper for the fermentation of the mushroom compost and the sporophore yields were lower than the standard pasteurization system. 4. In the bulk pasteurization system, peak-heating time, phase II period and quality of the compost were influenced by the air temperature but its effects were not more significant than those of the conventional method. 5. During phase II in the bulk pasteurization system moisture content of the compost at filling did not affect the fermentation of the compost.

Emission of Sulphur Dioxide Gas from Soils under Plastic Film House, Condition (토양중 퇴비종류 및 처리조건별 아황산가스 발생)

  • In order to investigate the emission pattern of sulphur dioxide gas from the soils in the plastic film house, the amounts of sulphur dioxide gas emitted from soils was periodically measured either in the plastic film house condition or in the incubator where the interior temperature was controlled to 10, 20. 30 and $40^{\circ}C$. Each soil was mixed with either mushroom, poultry, pig or fish meal compost at the rate of 0, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50g/kg for individual treatment and then treated with addition of 50, 100, 150 and 200ml of water. A significant increase in the emission of sulphur dioxide gas was observed in the treatment of fish meal compost and such increase was initiated from the rate of l0g/kg, while little difference was observed in other treatments. Compared to upland soils, as control, the horticultural soils containing higher sulphur content emitted more sulphur dioxide. The emission of sulphur dioxide was favoured as temperature increased and was highest with the addition of 150ml of water.

  • Smart agriculture is a rapidly growing field that seeks to optimize crop yields and reduce risk through the use of advanced technology. A key challenge in this field is the need to create a comprehensive smart farm system that can effectively monitor and control the growth environment of crops, particularly when cultivating new varieties. This is where fuzzy theory comes in, enabling the collection and analysis of external environmental factors to generate a rule-based system that considers the specific needs of each crop variety. By doing so, the system can easily set the optimal growth environment, reducing trial and error and the user's risk burden. This is in contrast to existing systems where parameters need to be changed for each breed and various factors considered. Additionally, the type of house used affects the environmental control factors for crops, making it necessary to adapt the system accordingly. While developing such a framework requires a significant investment of labour and time, the benefits are numerous and can lead to increased productivity and profitability in the field of smart agriculture. We developed an AI platform for optimal control of facility houses by integrating data from mushroom crops and environmental factors, and analysing the correlation between optimal control conditions and yield. Our experiments demonstrated significant performance improvement compared to the existing system.

Biological Control of Mycophila speyeri Barnes (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) using Korean Steinernema and Heterorhabditis Isolates in Pleurotus ostreatus Cultivation House (느타리버섯 재배사에서 한국산 Steinernema와 Heterorhabditis를 이용한 버섯혹파리(Mycophila speyeri)의 생물적 방제)

  • The potential of five entomopathogenic nematodes, Steinernema carpocapsae Pocheon strain, S. logicaudum Nonsan strain, S. glaseri Dongrae strain, Heterorhabditis bacteriophora Hamnyang strain, and Heterorabditis sp. Gyeongsan strain were evaluated as biological control agents against a mushroom fly, Mycophila speyeri in the mushroom, Pleurotus ostreatus cultivation house. Control effect of M. speyeri was significantly different according to nematode species. Heterorhabditis was more effective than Steinernema. H. bacteriophora Hamnyang strain showed the highest control effect representing $49.0\%$ (7 days), $89.5\%$ (14 days) and $89.1\%$ (21 days post-treatment) at the rate of $1\times10^6$ and $46.5\%$ (7 days), $76.6\%$ (14 days) and $85.4\%$ (21 days post-treatment) at the rate of $1.0\times10^5$ Ijs/$1.5 m^2$ in Changnyoung, Gyeongnam, respectively. In Jinju, Gyeongnam, control effects of the sa me species were $54.0\%$ (7 days), $74.5\%$ (14 days), and $79.8\%$ (21 days post-treatment) at the rate of $1\times10^6$ and $49.0\%$ (7 days), $76.6\%$ (14 days), and $61.1\%$ (21 days post-treatment) at the rate of $1.0\times10^5$ Ijs/$1.5 m^2$, respectively.

Antibacterial Activities of Mushroom Liquid Culture Extracts Against Livestock Disease-Causing Bacteria and Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria (가축질병 세균 및 항생제 내성 세균에 대한 버섯 균사체 배양 추출물의 항균 활성)

  • The ethyl acetate extracts from the liquid cultures of Coriolus versicolor, Phellinus linteus, and Hericium erinaceus showed significant antibacterial activities against Escherichia coli K88, E. coli K99, E. coli 987P, and Salmonella typhimurium 14058 causing bacterial diarrhea in Korean house pigs and chicken. Of these extracts, Coriolus versicolor extract showed the highest antibacterial activity. In addition, these extracts also showed significant growth inhibition against Staphylococcus aureus CARM3230 and E. coli CARM1381 which are known as kanamycin and ampicillin-resistant strains. These results showed that the mushroom extracts could be developed as a livestock feed additives that can replace commercial antibiotics, and also could be good resources for the development of a new antibacterial agent.

Quality Characteristics of Ear Mushroom by Various UVB (Ultraviolet B) Treatment Conditions (다양한 자외선(UVB) 처리조건에 의한 목이버섯의 품질 특성)

  • To examine the possibility of ear mushroom (EM) as a source of natural vitamin D, the UVB (ultraviolet B) was treated according to sample drying status, drying methods before UVB treatment and harvest time. And then, vitamin D2 and ergosterol contents were investigated. According to the sample drying status, the vitamin D2 contents of fresh and freeze-dried EM (whole) increased to 4,634.4~4,780.9 ㎍/100 g D.W. (dry weight) under UVB dose 52.5~70.0 kJ/㎡ and above 18,693.1 ㎍/100 g D.W. under above 105 kJ/㎡, respectively. By drying methods before UVB treatment, vitamin D2 contents of EM powder (below 500 ㎛) that dried in the vinyl house and freeze-dryer increased to 4,886.2~5,132.9 ㎍/100 g D.W. under above 105 kJ/㎡ and 17,103.7 ㎍/100 g D.W. under 70 kJ/㎡, respectively. Ergosterol content decreased with increasing UVB dose in all experiments. According to the harvest time, vitamin D2 content under UVB dose 210 kJ/㎡ showed marked difference and in order of June, July, August, October and April. As for the results, the optimum harvest time, drying method before UVB treatment, sample size, UVB dose for the EM contained high vitamin D2 content were June, freeze-drying, whole, and 105 kJ/㎡, respectively.

Exploring the quality standard of Phellinus spp through β-glucan content and sensory evaluation (β-glucan 함량과 관능검사를 통한 상황버섯 품질기준 모색)

  • Objective : Phellinus spp. mushroom is an object of interest because it has excellent anticancer effect. Owing to the similalarities in the morphology, Phellinus linteus and Phellinus baumii are often used as same Sang Hwang Mushroom in the Korean market.. The quality control for mushrooms is needed because there are many differences in the efficacy according to cultivation method and cultivation area. Therefore, a reliable authentication method of these herbal medicine is necessary to compare and measure the amount of beta-glucan which is known to have a hypoglycemic effect, from the mushrooms collected in various regions Methods : 7 samples of medicinal mushrooms supplying phellinus spp. were collected in Korea, China and Cambodia. We investigated the hardness, colors, extract ratio, ${\alpha}-amylase$ and ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ inhibitory activities, glucose transporter 4 (GLUT-4) expressions of water extracts from Phellinus spp and also MTT assay were examined for cell toxicity. Results : The results revealed that Phellinus spp.water Ext.inhibited ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ activity. glucose transporter 4 (GLUT-4), the key insulin signaling pathway transcription factor, was remarkably increased by the Phellinus baumii water extract Conclusions : These results suggest that The more yellowish the mushroom is, the lower the hardness, the more the content of ${\beta}-glucan$ is proportional. Because the more ${\beta}-glucan$, the greater the effect of hypoglycemia. compared to the hypoglycemic effect, Phellinus Baumii grown at hanging on selves for 7 month in the green house is the best.

Biological Control of Lycariella magi(Diptera: Sciaridae), a Pest of Oyster Mushroom, Pleurotus ostreatus Using Entomopathogenic Nematodes (곤충병원성 선충을 이용한 느타리버섯해충, 긴수염버섯파리 (Lycoriella mali)의 생물적방제)

  • The potential of two entomopathogenic nematodes, Sreinernema carpocapsae Pocheon strain and Heterorhabditis bacteriophora Hamyang strain as biological control agents was evaluated against mushroom ny, Lycoriella mali in laboratory and field. Mortality of L. mali was significantly different according to nematode species, concentration, temperature, and developmental stage of fly S. carpocapsae was more effective than H. bacteriophora. Mortality of L. mali was higher at $25^{\circ}C$ than at $20^{\circ}C$. In addition, the 3rd instal and the 4th instar of L. mali were more susceptible than the 2nd instar. The lowest $LC^{50}$ value was represented by S. carpocapsae, 20.0 infective juveniles (Ijs) in the 3rd instar, 27.5 Ijs in the 4th instar at $25^{\circ}C$. S. carpocapsae infected all the developmental stages of L. mali except egg stage and the 1st instar of larva. The highest mortality was shown in adult female representing 74.0% at$20^{\circ}C$ and 80.0% at $25^{\circ}C$.L. mali female adult was influenced by S. carpocapsae in oviposition. The number of eggs by L. mali female infected by nematodes was much lower than uninfected females. S. carpocapsae was dispersed by infected L. mali adult with higher numbers by females than males. When S. carpocapsae was applied at the rate of $2.25{\times}10^{5}\;and\;4.5{\times}10^{5}\;Ijs/1.5\;\textrm{m}^2$ in the mushroom house, mortalities were 42.2% and 81.6%, respectively. The infective juveniles of nematodes survived for 14 days in the mushroom medium. However, nematodes did not affect mushroom growth.

  • It is important to ensure a uniform temperature distribution in greenhouses for the mushroom cultivation. The air temperature of the mushroom cultivation greenhouse is made uniform by supplying a constant air temperature with the underground air. The mushroom cultivation array in a greenhouse in seven columns and four rows can make smooth air flows between the rows and prevent air differences between the top and bottom. The buoyancy effect in the entering air of 0.5m/s based on following density difference depending on initial internal temperature needs to be considered. The locations of the Fan Coil Unit (FCU) and fan were defined through flow analysis in a greenhouse to distribute the optimal uniform temperature. In this study, the air conditioning system of a greenhouse with a sandwich heat insulting panel shape which is composed of a FCU and fan was designed by flow analysis. A relatively uniform temperature distribution can be formed because the circulation path of air becomes longer in the different locations of the FCU (inlet) and fan (outlet) through the internal temperature and flow analysis. The cultivation and quality uniformity of the mushrooms could be promoted through these environmental improvements.
