This paper presents performance improvement in optical CDMA system under the presence of beat noise using a cancellation technique. Optical fibers and atmospheric optical communications have been proposed the connection between base stations and central station. The optical signal beat noise is due to interference between lightwave, many optical waves are simultaneously incident on each receiver photodiode. Since the photodiode acts as a square-law detector, beat noise can occur in the receiver. While A two-stage cancellation technique is analyzed and verified via simulation employed here because of its system simplicity. By using the random ingredients of all user signals are estimated, the beat noise is rebuilt and removed from the intended signal. In addition to cancellation technique cancel the inherent multiuser interference (MUI) in CDMA system and nonlinear distortion (NLD) in optical system. It is performed at the receiver of the central station where the random ingredients of all user signals are estimated and the MUI and the NLD are rebuilt and removed from the received signal. The validity of the cancellation technique is theoretically analyzed and shown by numerical results. The increasing of capacity in two stage cancellation are obtained.

This paper concentrates on developing and analyzing an advanced space-time multiuser receiver for WCDMA forward link. Through exploring the interference caused by co-channel users and delayed multipaths in CDMA, a constrained linear adaptive filter is adopted to cancel the interference. Furthermore, by utilizing the space-time diversity, an optimum diversity receiver, called a constrained adaptive space-time interference canceller (C-ASTIC), is proposed. For comparison, the statistical analysis of multiuser performance for WCDMA system with space-time diversity is described. The result of the simulation showed that C-ASTIC performs better than both the space-time diversity combining maximal ratio combiner (MRC) and the single-antenna adaptive interference canceller in a multipath fading channel. Also, the efficiency of the C-ASTIC in the multimedia communication environment is investigated under the multiuser, multi-transmit antenna, and multirate WCDMA system in a multipath fading channel. From the results, the C-ASTIC was validated to be useful for multi-rate WCDMA system through improving the performance gain by more than 3 dB at BER of 10$\^$-3/ in a half or more loaded system.

It has been known that multiuser MIMO systems have better performance than single-user MIMO systems. However, multiuser MIMO systems should eliminate inter-user interferences which are generated by allocating data to multiple users simultaneously There is zero-forcing beamforming (ZFBF) as scheme used widely among algorithms to eliminate inter-user interferences. But, it needs many feedback bits since BS knows quite exact channel state information to use this scheme in real systems. Random beamforming (RBF) was proposed to cope with a defect of ZFBF[1]. RBF is a multiuser scheme to send data to users who have optimal performance with predetermined codebook, each receiver feeds back a index of codeword which has optimal performance within the codebook and its CQI information. [1] assumes that the BS knows perfect CQI information of each receiver but CQI information should be quantized in the real systems. Therefore, in this paper, efficient CQI quantization scheme for RBF system is proposed.

In this work, a novel optimal multiuser detection (MUD) approach, which not only achieves the optimal maximum-likelihood (ML)-like performance but also has reasonably low computational complexity, for Space-time coded OFDM (ST-OFDM) systems is presented. In the proposed detection scheme, the signal model is firstly re-expressed into linearly equivalent one. Then, with the linearly equivalent signal model, a new jointly MUD algorithm is proposed to detect signals. The ML-like bit-error-rate (BER) performance and reasonably low complexity of the proposed detection are verified by computer simulations.

In order to enhance system energy efficiency, bidirectional link resource allocation strategy in GFDM-based multiuser SWIPT systems is proposed. In the downlink channel, each SWIPT user applies power splitting (PS) receiver structure in information decoding (ID) and non-linear energy harvesting (EH). In the uplink channel, information transmission power is originated from the harvested energy. An optimization problem is constructed to maximize weighted sum ID achievable rates in the downlink and uplink channels via bidirectional link power allocation as well as subcarriers and subsymbols scheduling. To solve this non-convex optimization problem, Lagrange duality method, sub-gradient-based method and greedy algorithm are adopted respectively. Simulation results show that the proposed strategy is superior to the fixed subcarrier scheme regardless of the weighting coefficients. It is superior to the heuristic algorithm in larger weighting coefficients scenario.

In this paper, we propose a joint adaptive combining and variable tap-length multiuser detector (MUD) for amplify-and-forward (AF) underwater acoustic cooperative interleave-division multiple access (IDMA) communication system. The proposed MUD jointly realizes tap-length adjustment, adaptive combining, and multiuser detection. In contrast to the existing methods, the proposed detector can adaptively combine the received signals from different nodes at destination, and does not need the assumption that full and perfect channel state information (CSI) of all the links at the receiver is known. Moreover, the proposed detector can adaptively adjust the tap coefficient vector and tap-length of each branch according to the specific channel profile of each branch. Simulation results validate the feasibility and show the advantages of the proposed detector against existing counterparts.

One of the effective ways to increase data transmission rate is to use massive antenna technique where tens or hundreds of antennas are deployed in base station and spatial diversity gain is improved by multiuser method. If multiuser method is applied, there will be inter-user interference and maximal ratio combiner (MRC) is conventionally used to reduce the complexity of the receiver and to eliminate interference. However, as the number of mobile devices increases, the performance of the conventional receiver becomes deteriorated. To solve this problem, we propose a new detector that completely eliminates the interference from the registered devices and reduces that from the unregistered devices. Then, to reduce the complexity of the proposed scheme, we propose adaptive algorithm of the proposed scheme. Through simulation, we show that the proposed scheme has better bit error rate performance than the conventional scheme.
Single carrier-frequency-division multiple access (SC-FDMA) has been adopted as the uplink transmission standard in fourth-generation cellular networks to facilitate power efficiency transmission in mobile stations. Because multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) is a promising technology employed to fully exploit the channel capacity in mobile radio networks, this study investigates the uplink transmission of MU-MIMO SC-FDMA systems with orthogonal space-frequency block codes (SFBCs). It is preferable to minimize the length of the cyclic prefix (CP). In this study, the chained turbo equalization technique with chained turbo estimation is employed in the designed receiver. Chained turbo estimation employs a short training sequence to improve the spectrum efficiency without compromising the estimation accuracy. In this paper, we propose a novel and spectrally efficient iterative joint-channel estimation, multiuser detection, and turbo equalization for an MU-MIMO SC-FDMA system without CP-insertion and with short TR. Some simulation examples are presented for the uplink scenario to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

In this paper, we propose maximum likelihood (ML) decision feedback channel estimation (DFCE) for M-ary orthogonal modulation in direct sequence/code division multiple access (DS/CDMA) systems. The proposed DFCE uses the maximum combiner output in a RAKE receiver as decision feedback information, enabling M-ary orthogonal signals to be demodulated coherently and a RAKE receiver to use a em maximal ration combining (MRC) scheme. However, the performance of the proposed DFCE in the multiuser environment is severely degraded due to multiple access interference (MAI). To overcome this problem, a multistage parallel interference cancellation (PIC) scheme is combined with the proposed DFCE for multiuser environments. Accurate knowledge of the channel coefficient estimated by the proposed DFCE is used to regenerate the signal of each user for the multistage PIC scheme. According to the results of our simulations, the performance of coherent demodulation using the proposed system is significantly improved in comparison with conventional noncoherent demodulation.

The performance of a multi-carrier CDMA system is analyzed considering frequency selective multipath fading and Near/Far effects. The number of multicarrier, multiuser, and arms of RAKE receiver, and the decay ratio of frequency selective multipath fading are used as a parameter for the performance analysis. More over, the distribution and the strength of multiuser interference are also considered. To evaluate the Near/Far effects in a multi-carrier CDMA system, three distribution models are assumed. In the first model, interference to carrier Ratio, I/C, ranges from -4 dB to 4dB, and at each 2 dB interval, 20 % of multiuser is assumed to be uniformly distributed. In the second one, I/C ranges from -2 dB to 2 dB, and 33.3% of multiuser is assumed to be equally dispersed at each 2dB interval. The third model is 0 dB of I/C, that is, with perfect power control, multiuser are assumed to be evenly located. In this paper, multi-carrier CDMA system adoption RAKE receiver is proposed to mitigate the frequency selective multipath fading. From the results, the third model(i.e. perfect power control) shows the best performance, and the narrower range of I/C causes the less effects to the desired signal, which reads to the better performance.
