  • The purpose of the present study is to develop the 3D static and noise simulator based on Galerkin Finite Element Method (GFEM) using the unstructured hexahedral elements. The 3D, 2G neutron diffusion and noise equations are discretized using the unstructured hexahedral by considering the linear approximation of the shape function in each element. The validation of the static calculation is performed via comparison between calculated results and reported data for the VVER-1000 benchmark problem. A sensitivity analysis of the calculation to the element type (unstructured hexahedral or tetrahedron elements) is done. Finally, the neutron noise calculation is performed for the neutron noise source of type of variable strength using the Green function technique. It is shown that the error reduction in the static calculation is considerable when the unstructured tetrahedron elements are replaced with the hexahedral ones. Since the neutron flux distribution and neutron multiplication factor are appeared in the neutron noise equation, the more accurate calculation of these parameters leads to obtaining the neutron noise distribution with high accuracy. The investigation of the changes of the neutron noise distribution in axial direction of the reactor core shows that the 3D neutron noise analysis is required instead of 2D.

  • One of the important parts of the in-core fuel management is loading pattern optimization (LPO). The loading pattern optimization as a reasonable design of the in-core fuel management can improve both economic and safe aspects of the nuclear reactor. This work proposes the hybrid of fuzzy logic controller with harmony search algorithm (HS) for loading pattern optimization in a pressurized water reactor. The music improvisation process to find a pleasing harmony is inspiring the harmony search algorithm. In this work, the adjustment of the harmony search algorithm parameters such as the bandwidth and the pitch adjustment rate are increasing performance of the proposed algorithm which is done through a fuzzy logic controller. Hence, membership functions and fuzzy rules are designed to improve the performance of the HS algorithm and achieve optimal results. The objective of the method is finding an optimum core arrangement according to safety and economic aspects such as reduction of power peaking factor (PPF) and increase of effective multiplication factor (Keff). The proposed approach effectiveness has been tried in two cases, Michalewicz's bivariate function problem and NEACRP LWR core. The results show that by using fuzzy harmony search algorithm the value of the fitness function is improved by 15.35%. Finally, with regard to the new solutions proposed in this research it could be used as a trustworthy method for other optimization issues of engineering field.

  • Stochastic computation employs random pulse streams to represent numbers. In this paper, we study a new method to implement the number system which uses the ratio of the numbers of ones and zeros in the pulse streams. In this number system. if P is the probability that a pulse is one in a pulse stream then the number X represented by the pulse stream is defined as P/(1-P). We propose circuits to implement the basic operations such as addition multiplication and sigmoid function with this number system and examine the error characteristics of such operations in stochastic computation. We also propose a neuron model and derive a learning algorithm based on backpropagation for the 3-layered feedforward neural networks. We apply this learning algorithm to a digit recognition problem. To analyze the results, we discuss the errors due to the variance of the random pulse streams and the quantization noise of finite length register.

  • Obtaining the accurate final importance of each customer attribute (CA) is very important in the house of quality(HOQ), because it is deployed to the quality of the final product or service through the quality function deployment(QFD). The final importance is often calculated by the multiplication of the relative importance rate and the competitive priority rate. Traditionally, the sample mean is used for estimating two rates but the dispersion is ignored. This paper proposes a new approach that incorporates statistical significance to consider the dispersion of rates in determining the final importance of CA. The approach is illustrated with a design of car door for each case of crisp and fuzzy numbers.

  • A new preconditioning method is investigated to reduce the roundoff error in computing derivatives using Chebyshev col-location methods(CCM). Using this preconditioning causes ration of roundoff error of preconditioning method and CCm becomes small when N gets large. Also for accuracy enhancement of differentiation we use a domain decomposition approach. Error analysis shows that for this domain decomposition method error reduces proportional to the length of subintervals. Numerical results show that using domain decomposition and preconditioning simultaneously gives super accu-rate approximate values for first derivative of the function and good approximate values for moderately high derivatives.

  • Verifying the treatment value(Monitor Unit) unnecessarily involves too many simple and repetitive calculation processes, that is, individual computation process using the data(PDD value, Scp Factor, SSD Factor, Tray Factor) on the data book. We intend to minimize the time required to check the Monitor Unit through computerized calculation. Using $^{\ast}(multiplication)$, /(division), +(sum), if function, among others, which are present in the Excell program, MS office program, the Monitor Unit was obtainable through A/P value, Scp Factor and PDD value, Wedge Factor. From the verification of the computations of Monitor Unit for 60 patients previously treated, we were able to obtain an error rate of ${\pm}0.028MU$. Computerized calculation of the Monitor Unit could save the burden of Technologist.

  • The study of the identities of symmetry for the Bernoulli polynomials arises from the study of Gauss's multiplication formula for the gamma function. There are many works in this direction. In the sense of p-adic analysis, the q-Bernoulli polynomials are natural extensions of the Bernoulli and Apostol-Bernoulli polynomials (see the introduction of this paper). By using the N-fold iterated Volkenborn integral, we derive serval identities of symmetry related to the q-extension power sums and the higher order q-Bernoulli polynomials. Many previous results are special cases of the results presented in this paper, including Tuenter's classical results on the symmetry relation between the power sum polynomials and the Bernoulli numbers in [A symmetry of power sum polynomials and Bernoulli numbers, Amer. Math. Monthly 108 (2001), no. 3, 258-261] and D. S. Kim's eight basic identities of symmetry in three variables related to the q-analogue power sums and the q-Bernoulli polynomials in [Identities of symmetry for q-Bernoulli polynomials, Comput. Math. Appl. 60 (2010), no. 8, 2350-2359].

  • This paper presents a method for computing the powers and inverse of an element in GF($2^m$). This method is based on the squaring algorithm $A^2=\sum\limits_{i=0}^{2m-2}P_i$, where $Pi={\alpha}_{i/2}$ if i is even, Pi=0 otherwise, derived from the multiplication algorithm for two elements in GF($2^m$). The powers and inverses in GF($2^m$) for m=2, 3, 4,5 were obtained using computer program, and used in circuit realization of Galois switching function. The squaring and inverse generating circuits are also shown.

  • A new computational algorithm is presented for the peak point detection of white light interferograms. Assuming the visibility function of white light interferograms as a quadratic polynomial, the peak point is searched so as to minimize the error sum between the measured intensity data and the analytical intensity. As compared with other existing algorithms, this new algorithm requires less computation since the peak point is simply determined with a single step matrix multiplication. In addition, a good robustness is obtained against external random disturbances on measured intensities since the algorithm is based upon least squares principles.

  • In this paper, the relationship among M-ary Sidel'nikov sequences generated by different primitive elements and decimation are studied. Their autocorrelation function and autocorrelation distribution are derived. It is proved that Sidel'nikov sequences for a given period are equivalent under the decimation, cyclic shift, and scalar multiplication of the sequence.
