  • This paper describes static characteristics analysis of linear pulse motor(LPM) with two permanent magnets. Linear pulse motors are finding a wide range of application for the Factory-Automation or the Office-Automation. Typically, LPM provides for a reliable and precise control of position, velocity, or acceleration without using a closed-loop system. Some of the advantages of LPMs are ease of control, step multiplication, static and dynamic positioning, and locking force. The flux density and thrust of LPM is computed by the FEM and magnetic equivalent circuits which considered the magnetic nonlinear phenomena. The result of characteristics analysis are shown as the flux, the air gap reluctance and the thrust. The velocity and position characteristics as a function of unit step input is measured. To estimate the unit step response charecteristic of LPM, the simulation results by Matlab and the experimental results is compared.

  • This paper presents rate-distortion optimization that is considered sequence statistics(complexity) to choose the best macroblock mode decision in H.264. In previous work, Lagrange multiplier is derived by the function of constant value 0.85 and QP so that is not the proper Lagrange multilplier for any image sequence. The proposed algorithm solves the problem by changing constant value 0.85 into adaptive value which is influenced by image complexity, and by reducing the encoder complexity to estimate the image statistics with the multiplication of transformed, quantized rate and distortion. Proposed algorithm is achieved the bit-rate saving up to 5% better than previous method.

  • Daunomycin, an anthracycline antibiotic, has been found to inhibit virus multiplication and shows considerable activity against tumors. Its activity may be varied by conformational changes of daunomycin. The conformational changes are come from the pucker of D-ring and variation of environments. We have carried out conformational analyses by using empirical potential function. We found that when daunomycin is hydrated or bound to $Mg^{2+}$ ion, the minimum conformer of each state is altered from ${\alpha}$ conformer to ${\beta}$ conformer through the pathway having four local minima. Our calculated results are in good agreements with those of X-ray crystallography and biological experiments, in which metal ion inhibits the binding of daunomycin to DNA.

  • Acid-catalyzed benzidine rearrangements of new unsymmetrical diazanes 1-3, prepared from the reduction of corresponding diazenes 4-6, were carried out in ethanolic solutions. The results are as follows; rearrangement of (3-carbomethoxyphenyl)(3-methoxyphenyl)diazane 1 gave 4,4'-diamino-2-carbomethoxy-2'-methoxybiphenyl 12 (p-benzidine type) in 71% and 10-amino-3-methoxyphenanthridin-6(5H)-one 13, 8-amino-3-methoxyphenanthridin-6(5H)-one 14 in 7.1% and 3.4%, respectively. Product 13 and 14 were formed by the condensation reaction of primarily formed o-benzidine and diphenyline type product, respectively. (5-Carbomethoxy-2-chlorophenyl)(4-methoxyphenyl)diazane 2 and (5-carbomethoxy-2-methylphenyl)(4-methoxyphenyl)diazane 3 underwent mainly disproportionations to give fission amines and corresponding diazenes in about 53% and 40% yields, respectively. The results obtained from the rearrangements of diazanes 1-3 indirectly indicated the importance of disproportionations to understand the benzidine rearrangements. The structures of benzidine rearrangement products were determined by usual NMR techniques such as DEPT, 2D H-H COSY, H-C COSY, 2D NOESY, and Gaussian function multiplication.

  • Let R be a commutative ring with identity 1, n ≥ 3, and let 𝒯n(R) be the linear Lie algebra of all upper triangular n × n matrices over R. A linear map 𝜑 on 𝒯n(R) is called to be strong commutativity preserving if [𝜑(x), 𝜑(y)] = [x, y] for any x, y ∈ 𝒯n(R). We show that an invertible linear map 𝜑 preserves strong commutativity on 𝒯n(R) if and only if it is a composition of an idempotent scalar multiplication, an extremal inner automorphism and a linear map induced by a linear function on 𝒯n(R).

  • In product design and manufacturing, axiomatic design provides a systematic approach for the decision-making process. Two axioms have been defined such as the Independence Axiom and the Information Axiom. The Information Axiom states that the best design among those that satisfy the independence axiom is the one with the least information content. In other words, the best design is the one that has the highest probability of success. On the other hand, the Taguchi robust design is used in the two-step process; one is "reduce variability," and the other is "adjust the mean on the target." The two-step can be interpreted as a problem that has two FRs (functional requirements). Therefore, the Taguchi method should be used based on the satisfaction of the Independence Axiom. Common aspects exist between the Taguchi method and Axiomatic Design in that a robust design is induced. However, different characteristics are found as well. The Taguchi method does not have the design range, and the probability of success may not be enough to express robustness. Our purpose is to find the one that has the highest probability of success and the smallest variation. A new index is proposed to satisfy these conditions. The index is defined by multiplication of the robustness weight function and the probability density function. The robustness weight function has the maximum at the target value and zero at the boundary of the design range. The validity of the index is proved through various examples.gh various examples.
