This study was conducted to investigate the basic concept of multiple trait effective daughter contribution (MTEDC) for dairy cattle sires and calculate effective daughter contribution (EDC) by applying a five lactation multiple trait model using milk yield test records of daughters for the Multiple-trait Across Country Evaluation (MACE). Milk yield data and pedigree information of 301,551 cows that were the progeny of 2,046 Korean and imported dairy bulls were collected from the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation and used in this study. For MTEDC approximation, the reliability of the breeding value was separated based on parents average, own yield deviation and mate adjusted progeny contribution. EDC was then calculated by lactation using these reliabilities. The average number of recorded daughters per sire by lactations were 140.57, 94.24, 55.14, 29.20 and 14.06 from the first to fifth lactation, respectively. However, the average EDC per sire by lactation using the five lactation multiple trait model was 113.49, 89.28, 73.56, 54.02 and 35.08 from the first to fifth lactation, respectively, while the decrease of EDC in late lactations was comparably lower than the average number of recorded daughters per sire. These findings indicate that the availability of daughters without late lactation records is increased by genetic correlation using the multiple trait model. Owing to the relatedness between the EDC and reliability of the estimated breeding value for sire, understanding the MTEDC algorithm and continuous monitoring of EDC is required for correct MACE application of the five lactation multiple trait model.
The purpose of this study was to find the influences of adolescents' sex-role, attachment with parents on self-efficacy of middle school students. The subjects were 281 students. Frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression were examined for statistical analysis. The results of this study were as follows. 1) It was shown that the student have a high level attachment to their parents and especially to their fathers. The androgyny was expressed a high among the students' sex-role trait, The students' self-efficacy level was relatively high. 2) It was expressed a significant correlation among adolescents' sex-role trait, attachment with parents and self-efficacy. Especially a high correlation between adolescents' sex-role trait and self-efficacy. 3) The students' self-efficacy level was significantly different according to the sex-role trait, attachment and gender. 4) The relative influence toward the students' self-efficacy was shown in the order of impotance as follows: sex-role trait, attachment with a mother and gender.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between the young children's creative trait and personality affecting their learning readiness. The participants were 131 young children in kindergartens or nursery schools and their mothers from Seoul, Gyeonggi and Chungnam province. The instruments were the Korea Learning Readiness Test, Young Children's Creative Traits Test, and Young Children's Personality Test. The data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA, t-test, Pearson's partial correlation, stepwise multiple regression, and Scheff$\'{e}$ test by SPSS PC(version17.0) program. The results were as follows. Firstly, there were no significant differences in young children's learning readiness, creative trait and personality by children's age, location, school type, father's age, mother's educational level and mother's job type, while there were significant differences in the creative trait and the subfactor scores of personality by children's sex, father's educational level and parents' job type. Secondly, there was a positive partial correlation(r = .20~.24) between young children's learning readiness and creative trait, while there were no correlations between their learning readiness and personality and between their personality and creative trait. Thirdly, cognitive factor of creative trait and father's educational level did not effectively explain the children's learning readiness.
Purpose: This study investigates university students' SNS addiction tendency, trait-anxiety and quality of sleep. This study is going to offer basic resource that required to make the way that is able to reduce the anxiety with figuring out the relation between variable. Method: 213 people participated in this study is 20 to 30 age of university students who use SNS. Collecting resource period was April 4 to May 11, 2018. Analyses consisted of descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analysis, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. Results: The findings showed SNS addiction tendency and quality of sleep(r=.45, p<.000). Major Influence factor is predicted addiction tendency of SNS using time (F=21.21, p=.000) and trait-anxiety (F=23.55, p=.000). Of the highest trait-anxiety affects quality of sleep (F=24.82 p=.000). Conclusion: These findings indicate that it is necessary to develop and implement information programs and design appropriate SNS addiction prevention programs that can induce trait-anxiety and improve quality of sleep. Thus follow-up study should have diverse participants to investigate SNS addiction tendency, trait-anxiety and quality of sleep that influenced by overusing SNS.
Gibbs sampling algorithms were implemented to the multi-trait threshold animal models with any combinations of multiple binary, ordered categorical, and linear traits and investigate the amount of bias on these models with two kinds of parameterization and algorithms for generating underlying liabilities. Statistical models which included additive genetic and residual effects as random and contemporary group effects as fixed were considered on the models using simulated data. The fully conditional posterior means of heritabilities and genetic (residual) correlations were calculated from 1,000 samples retained every 10th samples after 15,000 samples discarded as "burn-in" period. Under the models considered, several combinations of three traits with binary, multiple ordered categories, and continuous were analyzed. Five replicates were carried out. Estimates for heritabilities and genetic (residual) correlations as the posterior means were unbiased when underlying liabilities for a categorical trait were generated given by underlying liabilities of the other traits and threshold estimates were rescaled. Otherwise, when parameterizing threshold of zero and residual variance of one for binary traits, heritability estimates were inflated 7-10% upward. Genetic correlation estimates were biased upward if positively correlated and downward if negatively correlated when underling liabilities were generated without accounting for correlated traits on prior information. Residual correlation estimates were, consequently, much biased downward if positively correlated and upward if negatively correlated in that case. The more categorical trait had categories, the better mixing rate was shown.
The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for studying contemporary family violence, and to examine self-differentiation and trait-anxiety levels of urban-area housewives. The 207 subjects were married and living in urban areas. The statistical analyses used for this data were frequency, percentile, ANOVA, correlation, and multiple-regression. The main results obtained from this study were as follows: 1) Period of the family violence is 6-10 years, the main forms of violent behavior are kicking and punching, and the most violently abused wives want to divorce their husbands. 2) The self-differentiation level is 2.78, the verbal violence level is 2.06, the physical violence level is 2.06, and the trait-anxiety level is 2.49. 3) The degree of self-differentiation differed according to level of wife's education, husband's education, type of residence, income, wife's occupation, and husband's occupation. 4) The degree of violence differed according to level of wife's education, husband's education, type of residence, income, wife's occupation, and husband's occupation. 5) The degree of trait-anxiety differed according to level of husband's education, income, wife's occupation, and husband's occupation. 6) Wife's occupation, intellectual function vs. emotional function, family projection, verbal aggression behavior influenced on trait- anxiety.
Multi-modal biometric system can use another biometric trait in the case of having deficiency at a biometric trait. It also has an advantage of improving the performance of personal identification by using multiple biometric traits, so studies on new biometric traits have continuously been performed. The inner face of finger is a relatively new biometric trait. It has two major features of knuckle lines and wrinkles, which can be used as discriminative features. This paper proposes a finger identification method based on displacement vector to effectively process some variation appeared in contactless hand image. At first, the proposed method produces displacement vectors, which are made by connecting corresponding points acquired by matching each pair of local block. It then recognize finger by measuring the similarity among all the detected displacement vectors. The experimental results using pubic CASIA hand image database show that the proposed method may be effectively applied to personal identification.
This paper reviewed the relationship between job demands and safety motivation, and the moderating effect of A-type trait in Korean Air Force. Based on the responses from 722 responses, the results of multiple regression analysis appeared as follow; 1) role overload effects positively and role ambiguity effects negatively on intrinsic safety motivation. 2) role conflict effects negatively on extrinsic safety motivation. 3) role ambiguity effects negatively on intrinsic safety motivation in B-type than in A-type trait.
Objective: The main purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between marital conflict, parentification, and adolescent anxiety. Methods: The participants comprised 301 high school students from the Seoul province. They were asked to complete questionnaires that consisted of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, the Children's Perception of Interparental Conflict Scale, and the Filial Responsibility Scale-Youth. The data were analyzed by frequency analysis, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, descriptive statistical analysis, Pearson's correlation coefficients, multiple regression analysis, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. To analyze the collected data, SPSS 18.0 was used. Results: First, the content and resolution of marital conflict had an effect on both adolescent state anxiety and trait anxiety. Second, unfairness parentification had an effect on both adolescent state anxiety and trait anxiety. Third, the frequency of marital conflict had an effect on emotional parentification. Further, the intensity, content, and resolution of marital conflict had effect on unfairness parentification. Fourth, unfairness parentification played a partial mediating role in the relationship between the content of marital conflict and adolescent anxiety (state anxiety/trait anxiety). In addition, unfairness parentification played a complete mediating role in the relationship between the resolution of marital conflict and adolescent trait anxiety. Conclusion: These results indicate that parentification plays an important role in marital conflict and adolescent anxiety. In addition, this study also shows that marital conflict has an important effect on adolescent anxiety directly. Therefore, this study will be useful for developing both parental education and counseling programs for adolescents.
This study was aimed to solve the problems of current national genetic evaluation systems in Korea and its development to pass the verification processes as required by International Bull Evaluation Service (Interbull). This will enable Korea to participate in international genetic evaluation program. A total of 1,416,589 test-day milk records with calving dates used in this study were collected by National Agricultural Cooperative Federation from 2001 to 2009. Parity was limited up to fifth calving and milk production records were adjusted to cumulative 305 day lactation. The pedigree consisted of 2,279,741 animals where 2,467 bulls had 535,409 parents. A newly developed multiple trait model was used in calculation of breeding values for milk yield, milk fat, and protein yield. Data were edited with SAS (version 9.2) and R programs, and genetic parameters were estimated using VCE 6.0. Results showed a continuous increase in genetic potentials, in general, and no remarkable differences were found between performances by parity. Except fat yield, potentials in milk yield and protein yield were well calculated. We found an increased number of daughters per each top ranked 1,000 bulls in recent years of calf births compared to the cases of previous evaluations. Of the bulls ranked top 100 by our new models (multiple-trait models) we found that increased numbers of bulls were included. Of twenty eight bulls born in 2006, twenty bulls born in 2007 and eight bulls born in 2008 that were listed by new models, only 23, 12, and 2 bulls born in respective years were represented on top 100 by old single-trait models. Re-ranking of the daughters or sires by multiple-trait models suggest that this new multiple trait approach should be used for dairy cattle genetic evaluation and seed-stock selection in the future to increase the accuracy of multiple trait selection. Breeding values for these traits should also be calculated by new method for international genetic evaluation.
