The performance of multihop cognitive radio networks (CRN) can be improved significantly by using multiple channels in spectrum underlay fashion. However, interference due to the sharing of common radio channel and congestion due to the contention among those flows that share the same links become an obstacle to meet this challenge. How to control efficiently congestion and allocate power optimally to obtain a high end-to-end throughput is a key objective in this work. We reexamined the Network Utility Maximum (NUM) problem with a new primary outage constraint and proposed a novel resource allocation strategy to solve it effectively and efficiently.

Under the power-based capture model, a transmission is successfully received at the destination, even in the presence of other transmissions and background noise, if the received signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio exceeds a capture threshold. We evaluate the spectral efficiency of simple multi-user channels by combining the basic capture model with a communication-theoretic model. The result is a more refined capture model that incorporates key system design parameters (such as achievable bit rate, target bit error rate, channel bandwidth, and modulation signal constellations) that are absent from the basic capture model. The relationships among these parameters can serve as a tool for optimizing the network performance.

Multucarrier code-division multiple access(MC-CDMA) is one of the promising technique for high capacity wireless communication. Hower the carrier phase error and frequency offest cause the performance degradation of MC-CDMA due to the inter-carrier interference. In this work, downlink performance of the partially coherent MC-CDMA is analytically derived in Rayleigh fading channels. The bit error rate sensitivity by combining method, Maxiaml ratio combining (MRC)and Equal gain combining(EGC), is compared as functions of phase errors. multi-user interference, and received signal-to-noise ratio. The results show that the susceptibility for the performance degradation of EGc and MRC is negligible for loop SNR's of above 15 dB and above 10 dB, respectivtely.
This paper investigates the impacts of array weight errors (AWE) in an antenna array (AA) on a parallel interference cancellation (PIC) receiver in uplink synchronous and asynchronous direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems. The performance degradation due to an AWE, which is approximated by a Gaussian distributed random variable, is estimated as a function of the variance of the AWE. Theoretical analysis, confirmed by simulation, demonstrates the tradeoffs encountered between system parameters such as the number of antennas and the variance of the AWE in terms of the achievable average bit error rate and the user capacity. Numerical results show that the performance of the PIC with the AA in the DS-CDMA uplink is sensitive to the AWE. However, either a larger number of antennas or uplink synchronous transmissions have the potential of reducing the overall sensitivity, and thus improving its performance.

This paper considers the mutual interference problem of several users employing the same FH systems in selected multiple user environments. The environment consists of a desired transmitter-receiver pair located in an area where there are M interfering users distributed in accordance with a specified probability density function. Both coherent Phase-Shift-Keyed and incoherent Frequencey-Shift-Keyed modulations are considered. The general formulas of the average bit error probability are derived. The calculation results are summarized and analyzed. The average bit error probability is highly dependent on the relative location of interferences to the desired link, the time duty factor of the hopping and the number of available channels.

We consider the Device-to-Device (D2D) communications in cellular networks where each cellular user (CU) shares the same resource with multiple D2D users (DUs). In this paper, we aim to maximize the energy efficiency (EE) of the D2D networks, subject to an interference constraint required by the CU. Since the cellular and D2D communications belong to different networks, we consider to incentivize base station (BS) while assisting the DUs. To this end, we propose a Stackelberg game based interference pricing framework for the considered D2D communications in cellular networks. Unlike most of the existing methods, we use interference pricing framework to jointly address the EE resource allocation problem and the interference management in our networks rather than only improve the EE of the DUs or protect cellular networks. In particular, BS and all the users do not need all channel state information, which is more realistic in practice. In addition, two different pricing strategies are also proposed. Based on the two strategies, we analyze the equilibrium of the game. Moreover, in the first strategy, the upper and lower boundaries of the interference price are obtained. The closed-form expression is gained with a backward induction for the second strategy. Both offer valuable insights to the considered scenarios. Finally, compared with the existing work, the EE of the D2D communications is significantly improved. The advantageous performance of our scheme are demonstrated by the simulation results.

In this paper, we consider a two-way relay non-orthogonal multiple access (TWR-NOMA) system with residual hardware impairments (RHIs) and channel estimation errors (CEEs), where two group users exchange their information via the decode-and-forward (DF) relay by using NOMA protocol. To evaluate the performance of the considered system, exact analytical expressions for the outage probability of the two groups users are derived in closed-form. Moreover, the asymptotic outage behavior in the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime is examined and the diversity order is derived and discussed. Numerical simulation results verify the accuracy of theoretical analyses, and show that: i) RHIs and CEEs have a deleterious effects on the outage probabilities; ii) CEEs have significant effects on the performance of the near user; iii) Due to the RHIs, CEEs, inter-group interference and intra-group interference, there exists error floors for the outage probability.

In this paper, we investigate the user scheduling, transmit beamforming, and receive beamforming of uplink space division multiple access (SDMA) systems where multiple users are allowed to transmit their signal to a base station (BS) using the same frequency band simultaneously. The BS performs a receive beamforming using the predetermined pseudo-random pattern and select users with a specific criterion. Especially, in this paper, we propose the threshold-based transmit power control, in which a user decrease its transmit power according if its generating interference to other users's signal is larger than a predetermined threshold. Assuming that the TDD system is used, the channel state information (CSI) can be obtained at each user from pilot signals from the BS. Simulation results show that the proposed technique significantly outperforms the existing user scheduling algorithms.

In recent years, dense small cell network has been deployed to address the challenge that has resulted from the unprecendented growth of mobile data traffic and users. It has proven to be a cost efficeient solution to offload traffic from macro-cells. Software defined heterogeneous wireless network can decouple the control plane from the data plane. The control signal goes through the macro-cell while the data traffic can be offloaded by small cells. In this paper, we propose a framework for cell virtualization and user association in order to satisfy versatile requirements of multiple tenants. In the proposed framework, we propose an interference graph partioning based virtual-cell association and customized physical-cell association for multi-homed users in a software defined small cell network. The proposed user association scheme includes 3 steps: initialization, virtual-cell association and physical-cell association. Simulation results show that the proposed virtual-cell association outperforms the other schemes. For physical-cell association, the results on resource utilization and user fairness are examined for mobile users and infrastructure providers.

In this paper, we introduce a Parallel Interference Canceller (PIC) based sorting method to improve performance in the MC-DS/CDMA environment. A conventional PIC estimates and subtracts out all of the MAI (Multiple Access Interference) for each user in parallel. The parallel process ensures the low delay for the detection of all users. Also this scheme requires more stages for having better performance. Since the performance of PIC is strongly related to the correct MAI estimation, we introduce the IC (Interference Cancellation) scheme to estimate the accurate weaker signal group than the desired signal using conventional PIC. The principle of the proposed receiver sorts in descending order by the strength of signal and subtracts the MAI of the strong interferers from the desired signal for the accurate estimate of the weaker signals. Following this, the proposed scheme cancels out the improved weaker interference from the desired signal, using the output of the pre-step. In this result, the proposed system obtains better BER performance than the conventional PIC because the accuracy of the strong signal is improved. However, a disadvantage exists in that the processing time has slightly longer delay than the PIC owing to the power sorting and the MAI estimation process. The system performance evaluates and compares other non-liner It according to the number of sub-carriers in the limited-bandwidth.
