In this paper, we propose a modular neural network based classification method for handwritten numerals utilizing rotated and translated images of an input image. The whole numeral pattern space is divided into smaller spaces which overlap each other and form multiple clusters. On these multiple clusters, multiple multilayer perceptrons (MLP) neural networks, specialized in those clusters, are constructed. Thus, each MLP acts as an expert network on the corresponding cluster. An MLP is also used as a gating network functioning as a mediator among the multiple MLPs. In the learning phase, an input numeral image is dithered by tow geometric operations of translation and rotation so that new numeral images similar to original one are generated. In the recognition phase, we utilize not only input numeral image, but also nearly generated images through the rotation and the translation of the original image. Thus, multiple output values for those generated images were combined to make class decision by various combination methods. The experimental results confirm the validity of the proposed method.
Energy efficiency is one of the most critical concerns for wireless sensor networks. By allowing sensor nodes in close proximity to cooperate in transmission to form a virtual multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) system, recent progress in wireless MIMO communications can be exploited to boost the system throughput, or equivalently reduce the energy consumption for the same throughput and BER target. However, these cooperative transmission strategies may incur additional energy cost and system overhead. In this paper, assuming that data collectors are equipped with antenna arrays and superior processing capability, energy efficiency of relevant traditional and cooperative transmission strategies: Single-input-multiple-output(SIMO), space-time block coding(STBC), and spatial multiplexing(SM) are studied. Analysis in the wideband regime reveals that, while receive diversity introduces significant improvement in both energy efficiency and spectral efficiency, further improvement due to the transmit diversity of STBC is limited, as opposed to the superiority of the SM scheme especially for non-trivial spectral efficiency. These observations are further confirmed in our analysis of more realistic systems with limited bandwidth, finite constellation sizes, and a target error rate. Based on this analysis, general guidelines are presented for optimal transmission strategy selection in system level and link level, aiming at minimum energy consumption while meeting different requirements. The proposed selection rules, especially those based on system-level metrics, are easy to implement for sensor applications. The framework provided here may also be readily extended to other scenarios or applications.
In this paper, we focus on the total transmission power minimization problem for downlink beamforming multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems while ensuring each user's QoS requirement. Although the linear integer programming (LIP) solution we formulate provides the performance upper bound of the margin adaptive (MA) optimization problem, it is hard to be implemented in practice due to its high computational complexity. By regarding each user's equivalent channel gain as approximate independent values and using iterative descent method, we present a heuristic MA resource allocation algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm efficiently converges to the local optimum, which is very close to the performance of the optimal LIP solution. Compared with existing space division multiple access (SDMA) OFDM systems with or without adaptive resource allocation, the proposed algorithm achieves significant performance improvement by exploiting the frequency diversity and multi-user diversity in downlink multiple-input single-output (MISO) OFDM systems.
본 논문은 IEEE 802.15.4 표준 기반의 Multiple Inputs Multiple Output (MIMO) 시스템에 space-time block coding (STBC) - Alamouti scheme을 적용하는 기법을 제안한다.
The input and output device requires precise color representation and CMS (Color Management System) because of the increasing number of ways to apply the digital image into electronic publishing. However, there are slight differences in the device dependent color signal among the input and output devices. Also, because of the non-linear conversion of the input signal value to the output signal value, there are color differences between the original copy and the output copy. It seems necessary for device-dependent color information values to change into device-independent color information values. When creating an original copy through electronic publishing, there should be color management with the input and output devices. From the devices' three phases of calibration, characterization and color conversion, the device-dependent color should undergo a color transformation into a device-independent color. In this paper, an experiment was done where the input device used the linear multiple regression and the sRGB color space to perform a color transformation. The output device used the GOG, GOGO and sRGB for the color transformation. After undergoing a color transformation in the input and output devices, the best results were created when the original target underwent a color transformation by the scanner and digital camera input device by the linear multiple regression, and the LCD output device underwent a color transformation by the GOG model.
A non-isolated Multiple Input Converter (MIC) with an input port, two storage ports and a load port is proposed. The synthesis of the proposed four port converter with its switch realization is presented. A steady state analysis of each operating mode with a small-signal model is derived, and a stability analysis is done. A mode selection controller is proposed to automatically choose a specific operating mode based on the voltage levels of the different source and storage units. In addition, a voltage control loop is used to regulate the output voltage. A 200W prototype is built with a TMS320F28027 DSP controller to test the feasibility of the operating modes. Simulation and experimental results show the ability of the proposed converter to handle multiple inputs either individually or simultaneously.
A distortion suppression technology for employing multiple inputs in 3n+1 type current mode Max circuit is proposed using the adjustment of transconductance. If the number of inputs in current mode Max circuit increases, the high frequency distortion in the output signal grows. In this paper, it has been disclosed that the distortion in the multiple input Max circuit is proportional to sum of parasitic capacitance in input terminals, to the derivative of the output signal and also to the inverse of transconductance of the common diode-connected transistor. The proposed idea is by employing as larger transconductance of the common diode-connected transistor as possible. The effectiveness of the proposed idea has been proved through the HSPICE simulation.
A new method for the 3D automatic registration of the multiple range images has been developed for the 3D scanners(non-contact coordinates measurement systems). In the existing methods, the user usually has to input more than 3 pairs of corresponding points for the iterative registration process. The major difficulty of the existing systems lies in that the input corresponding points must be selected very carefully because the optimal searching process and the registration results mostly depend upon the accuracy of the selected points. In the proposed method, this kind of difficulty is greatly mitigated even though it needs only 2 pairs of the corresponding input points. Several registration examples on the 3D measured data have been presented and discussed with the introduction to the proposed algorithm.
In this paper, the optimal synthesis algorithm of multiple-valued logic circuits using universal logic modules (ULM) U$_{f}$ based on 3-variable ternary reed-muller expansions is presented. We check the degree of each varable for the coefficients of reed-muller expansions and determine the order of optimal control input variables that minimize the number of ULM U$_{f}$ modules. The order of optimal control input variables is utilized the realization of multiple-valued logic circuits to be constructed by ULM U$_{f}$ modules based on reed-muller expansions using the circuit cost matrix. This algorithm is performed only unit time in order to search for the optimal control input variables. Also, this algorithm is able to be programmed by computer and the run time on programming is O(p$^{n}$ ).
In this paper, we propose an interacting multiple model (IMM) method using intelligent tracking filter with fuzzy gain to reduce tracking errors for maneuvering targets. In the proposed filter, the unknown acceleration input for each sub-model is determined by mismatches between the modelled target dynamics and the actual target dynamics. After a acceleration input is detected, the state estimates for each sub-filter are modified. To modify the accurate estimation, we propose the fuzzy gain based on the relation between the filter residual and its variation. To optimize each fuzzy system, we utilize the genetic algorithm (GA). The tracking performance of the proposed method is compared with those of the adaptive interacting multiple model(AIMM) method and input estimation (IE) method through computer simulations.
