This study is attempted to serve the fundamental theory for ‘The reorganization of Korean coastal and adjacent water fishery.’ On the Korean coastal and adjacent water fishery where one species stock is catched by multiple fisheries, traditional analysis is not suitable, as analyzing through adjusting the heterogeneous fishing effort among the fisheries to an unit having same fishing strength. Therefore, this study presents the ‘Multi-Variable Model’, adopting fishing effort from each fishery as independent variable, respectively, in order to analyze the quantitative fluctuation of fishery resource not with fishing strength but with amount of fishing effort, measured by the unit of each fishery. For the sake of simplication, this study assumes that one species is catched by two fishery, premise two assumption. 1) Every fishery has not the selectivity in fishing 2) The promotion of fishing efficiency is accomplished in the same speed. Recently those who visit a fishing village is increasing. So the government's policymaker is interested in a tourism of fishing village. There are a lot of local governments that they turn it to good account to activate the fishing community. So they plan for the tourism facility in the fishing village and invest in it. The fishery facility can playa role in it. Nonetheless it is not playing a role in tourism facility. Though the breakwaters projecting far into the sea are good waterfront, most of them are not reflecting the function of it. And fishery facility producing seed is a good resource of eco-tourism, but it is yet a tourist potential. Although the artificial reef is going far toward promoting a fishery resource, it is seldom used as a tourism resource. The multiple functions of fishery facilities have to be improved to raise the investment effect of them. Especially the tourism function has to be added on their basic function. The multiple functions of fishery facilities is necessary to satisfy tourist's needs. In results, not only their value but also value of fishing village will be raised.
This paper presents case studies on the multi-species fisheries in Korean waters, Multi-species fisheries were divided into two types, that is, multi-species by a single fishery and single species by multiple fisheries. For the case of single species by multiple fisheries, the small yellow croaker stock caught mainly by the Korean pair trawl fishery and the Korean stow net fishery was selected. This approach uses both standardized fishing efforts for the two fisheries by a general linear model and some data for the economic analysis, and then estimates maximum sustainable yield (MSY), maximum economic yield (MEY) and fishing efforts for MSY and MEY, An analysis of interaction aspects between pair trawl and stow net fisheries was carried out to predict the optimal level of fishing effort from the economic point of view, which gives the largest benefits to the two fisheries.
In this paper, fishery economics is reviewed to extend a basic opportunity for developing new fishery economics and to evaluate the effects of the import liberalization on the fish trade structure of Korea. The principle outline of extensions emphasis to realize the modern fishery problems based on fishery economics and develop the practical methodology in order to analyze the impacts of the import liberalization on the fishery and fishermen welfare. During the process of export - oriented industrilization, the role and position of fishery in the economy is changed dynamically. When faced with the imperative of the role and position of fishery in the economy, fishery economists and domestic policy makers must decide how to organize themselves for solving fishery problems under the new regime in the import liberalization on the fish trade. Fishery problems impacted by the new regime can not be solved by fishery itself but be solved by the centralized efforts of all contributors in national views. Therefore the new systematic analytical methodology must be develop and the traditional fishery economics must be related to the regional development strategy and fishery sociology as subsidiary theories specialized. Due to the impacts of the import liberalization on the fish trade structure, fishery economists face with radical changes in the domestic fishery : a place of the resources harvest to place of the combination resource harvest and its demand, a fishing as a resource exploitation to a fishing as a resource management, a traditional small scale costal fishing to a modernized and scaled fishing, fishery using the given natural resource itself to fishery as technology intensive industry, and a food supply industry to a welfare indusry based on the regional and economic resource and social environment. As these changes, fishery and its community's regional and economic resource and social environments as multiple roles of the regional economic development are emphasized in fishery economics under the new regime in the import liberalization on the fish trade. Furthermore, domestic policy makers and administrators in a public sector must realize the above radical changing trends in fishery and understand a social and economic environment in fishery and develop a new fishery structure focusing on the fishing system and the fishery laws. As this point, they make efforts to improve and develop fishery as a food supply industry. Japan, for example, has a non - governmental organization to conflict the problem of international fishery such as a movement of a civil environmental protection. Also fishermen in Japan already realized conservation and pollution problems in fishing as fundamental issues of human being.

This study seeks to improve NFRDI Serial Oceanographic observation (NSO) system which has been operated at current observation stations in the Korean Seas since 1961 and suggests the direction of NSO for practical use of Korean operational oceanographic system. For improvement, data handling by human after CTD (Conductivity-Temperature-Depth) observation on the deck, data transmission, data reception in the land station, and file storage into database need to be automated. Software development to execute QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) of real-time oceanographic observation data and to transmit the data with conversion to appropriate format automatically will help to accomplish the automation. Inmarsat satellite telecommunication systems with which have already been equipped on board the current observation vessels can realize the real-time transmission of the data. For the near real-time data transmission, CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) wireless telecommunication can provide efficient transmission in coastal area. Real-time QA/QC procedure after CTD observation will help to prevent errors which can be derived from various causes.

We injected infectious myonecrosis virus (IMNV) to pacific whiteleg shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei, and observed closely with using light microscope and transmission electron microscope (TEM) for 4-8 days post infection (dpi). As clinical signs, abdominal bodies had mild opaque muscles at 5 dpi. And the mortality was shown at 6 dpi. At 8 dpi, most injected shrimps had severe opaque muscles and humped back that cause of movement disorder. As results of histopathological examinations, local parts of abdominal body muscle had muscle fiber hyalinization, muscle fiber atrophy, rounded muscle fibers, myofibrillar hypertrophy in size, a decrease in number of myofibrils and phagocytosis from the sarcolemmas by multiple hemocytes at 4 dpi. Especially, myofibrillar hypertrophy appeared at the whole or random part of single muscle fiber not in specific locations like the center or edge of muscle fiber. At 6-7 dpi, multiple muscle necrosis, muscle fiber segmentation, myofibril lysis ap- peared and a few hemocytes were infiltrated at lesions. At 8 dpi, extensive muscle necrosis, multiple myofibril lysis and muscle fiber atrophy were shown, and very few hemocytes were infiltrated. In early stage of infection, local viral myositis with zenker's degeneration were shown. These lesions appeared multiply after the early stage. In late stage of infection, extensive coagulative muscle necrosis appeared with few of inflammatory response such as hemocytes infiltration. The lack of hemocytes infiltration response at the late stage might be disadvantage for Litopenaeus vannamei to defense against IMNV and to recover, because hematocytes (granulocyte, semi-granulocyte) eliminate pathogen and damaged tissues from infection sites and help recover. As results of the TEM observation, IMNVs that had nonenveloped icosahedral capsid which was 30-40 nm diameter were in myofibril and beside tubules of sarcoplasmic reticulum and moved to the certain direction. The micro-tears and micro-trau- mas in myofibrils caused muscle fiber necrosis. And semi-granulocytes engulfed IMNVs to eliminate virus.

This study was practiced to survey food-borne bacterial aspects of Escherichia coli and Bacilhus cereus etc. from 210 processed seasoned marine products in Garak fishery wholesale market in Seoul, 2009. Distributions of these bacterial isolates were 28 coliforms, 32 Bacillus spp., 71 Staphylococcus spp., 11 Listeria spp, and 10 Enterococcus spp. in 157 dried squids, 23 dried file fishes, and 20 dried pollacks etc. respectively. Results in 16 kinds of antibiotics susceptibility test by disc diffusion method, special multiple drugs resistance patterns were NOR + LVX + CIP + SAM + VA + S + TE + CF, SAM + C + VA, VA + S + TE, and VA + S in 9 E. coli strains, also, AMC + SAM + CF, SAM + CF, and VA + CF in 21 Bacillus cereus strains respectively. On the basis of the results above, many seasoned dried fishes had multiple drugs resistances, conclusively, we suggest limited guideline and special management on use of antibiotics in floating net cages of fishery farms.
This study describes approaches to fisheries management that restrict access by fishers to an area in some way. When fishery closure is established as a technical conservation measure it is a form of input control as a Korea fisheries management system. There are many compelling reasons why a fisheries manager should seriously consider closed areas and/or time restrictions, either as a complement to other measures or as the primary facet of the Korean fisheries management strategy. Fishery closures have been shown to be effective in many fisheries and are an important tool in the management armoury. In many respects justifications for their use and the process of implementation are likely to be relatively straightforward compared to permanent area closures. From a Korean fisheries management perspective, the benefits that flow from fishery closures are usually less easy to predict than for other management measures. Moreover, even if one accepts that implementation of fisherg clossures will provide higher production levels in adjacent fished areas, the potential benefits may often be in danger of being largely dissipated. If, for example, the fishery remains open access, the increased production is likely to attract new entrants into the fishery, thereby driving it back towards bioeconomic equilibrium. From a Korean wider fisheries conservation perspective, however, fishery closures have important and clearly defensible roles to play and some form of zoning arrangement will often effectively serve conservation values. Given the increasing trend towards the establishment of national networks of fisherg closures, it seems likely that fisheries managers throughout the world will need to ensure that they are familiar with the issues surrounding these approaches. The importance of being explicit about the goals for fishery closures in Korea have been continually emphasised throughout this study. There may, of course, be multiple justifications for the measure, in which case it is important to try and specify them in order of priority.

This study aimed to compare differences according to categories of fishery and marine environmental policies for the (estimated) amount of fishery waste generated by fishing, and to analyze the correlation between associated independent and dependent variables. The independent variables were divided into three dif erent sectors. The first sector included precautionary policies that observed eco-friendly fishing support program, institutional prevention activities, and physical barriers installation. The second sector with the current management policies included the relevant vessel operations, establishment of fishery order, fishery restructuring, and fishery ground clean-up. Thirdly, post-response policies comprised the litter purification from river to shoreline, the collection and removal of marine, sedimentary, and floating debris, purchasing salvaged debris generated while fishing, fishery waste disposal, and repairing damage caused by marine litter. The indicator used was the settlement amount by each program. The dependent variable was the estimated amount of fishery waste and the indicator was the sum of the loss of traps and gill nets and the loss of their appendages. According to the results of Kruskal-Wallis Test, the estimated amount of fishery waste was highest in the East Sea in terms of sea area and the highest in the Si(city) according to basic local municipality. The settlement amount related to the marine environment services was largest in the Gun(county). Further, there were significant differences between Gun(county) and the other regions(Si(city) and Gu(autonomous district)) with respect to most variables. The variables related to the estimated amount of fishery debris were the project purchasing salvaged debris generated while fishing and fishery waste disposal program in the post-response policies.
This study was practiced to investigate characteristics and antibiotics susceptibility to 296 isolates of Escherichia coli isolated from 2429 fishery samples sold in Noryangjin Fishery Market from Sep. 2001 to Aug. 2002 It showed 12.2% average E. coli isolation rates for the tested samples. Isolation rates were high in summer, especially July and August, but there was no isolate in winter season. Of the fishery groups, the isolation rate showed in crustacea(15.6%), in mollusca(14.4%), in shellfish(12.0%) and in fish(11.0%). But, differences between the fishery groups was not large. In the case of shellfish, the isolation rate of shucked shellfish (16.3%) was higher than the non-shucked shellfish (6.8%). Following the provinces of origin of the fishery samples, in Gyung-Nam (14.3%) showed the highest isolation rate, whereas Je-Ju (6.9%) showed the lowest isolation rate. Results in 12 kinds of antibiotics susceptibility test, the 169 isolates(57.1%) had antibiotics resistances at least one kind of antibiotics and the 104 isolates (35.1%) had the multiple resistance at least two kinds.
